her family is from Asia Minor refugees, these songs are from there and for us it is the most precious thing we have from the land of our grandparents, we kept them as a talisman and sing them as a prayer..

It is really sad and embarrassing that two people who are so similar to each other look at each other as enemies because of the politicians. I compare your culture very much to ours and I admire your culture. I wish we had not been so hostile towards you and forced you into exile. At least our cultural mosaic would not crumble as it used to be.
It was Greece/Venizelos who asked for an exchange. Turks as herding peoples have always been looked upon with disdain and contempt by farming peoples. I think it’s a disease farming peoples have, due to their way of amassing calories in granaries. Xenophobia may even be innate in farming cultures due to them being immobile, and passive to any change coming from the “outside”. While herding peoples have to be open and be on the move all the time in order to gather calories stored in animals due to the seasonal cycles. The thermodynamics of two different ways of gathering calories to produce offsprings have evolved two different ways of seeing and perceiving the world. Herding societies thus have flat hierarchies and their language is creative in order to better adapt to the ever changing environment they are going through. Most farming societies have articles in their language because their operating system is about storing and distributing calories, and this creates categories and hierarchies. If you have articles, categoritazion is an a priori in your mind. I ❤ Haris.
We have big bad history between us but now is just politics. They need to keep all this violence alive so we can buy billions of euros on weapons. Everyone is winning, Americans Europeans, our poliricians. But we the normal poor people like us suffer and is difficult just to live in our own countries.
@@pag93 So true… It’s usually Britain that plays us against each other so they can keep a foothold on Cyprus, which is like a huge aircraft carrier. Actually the rumour that (Greeks burned Atatürk’s house in Thessalonika) caused the 6-7 Istanbul pogrom against the Rums of Istanbul was deliberately purpotrated by an English spy, Ian Flemming, the writer of the James Bond series. All nationalist parties, be it in India, Africa, Turkey, Middle East have ties with Imperial, Neo-Capitalist powers. I think we should just listen to good music, share stories, drink rakı/ouzo and just “love thy neighbour.”
Warmly greeting from Iran. I can't picture even one word. But music is the universal language of affection, kindness & love amongst all nations. I wish we had such programs in Iran. Unfortunately we all in iran are living under the despicable ideology of Mullahs killing & suffocating any love, dance & happiness
Thanks dear sir/ lady. I hope that some day I can see love & friendship among all nations irrespective of any diversities & differences, I may not be alive that day, though.
I think this is a Greece traditional music... incredibly beautiful and harmonic... very similar to Turkish or Persian music.. and Easter music in general.. Greetings from KSA All the love to All
Turkish verse in the song: Ah Yannaki bir okka; al da gel yarım okka (Oh my little Gianni one kilogram bring me a half kilogram of it (appetizer-meal) :)
When you lived in Anatolia You were constantly watched by the Turks police force If there is some Turkish it’s b cause the three enough in to get the police off their back
Do not understand a single word what they sing....but the musicality the harmony the feeling are universal as a humans independent of the spoken language
