The best work of Ludwig van Beethoven. The sonata has a subtitle "in the spirit of fantasy" (ital quasi una fantasia), because in it the traditional sequence of parts "fast-slow [fast] -fast" is broken. Instead, the sonata has a linear development trajectory - from the slow first part to the stormy finale.
In the sonata there are 3 parts: 1. Adagio sostenuto, 2. Allegretto, 3. Presto agitato.
The first part of the sonata is cis-moll tragic from the first to the last note (this is also hinted at in a minor way). The small second part allows for a momentary romantic mood. The last part of the stormy, passionate and even somewhere angry. The name "lunar" to this sonata does not fit. Beethoven wrote it as a requiem for an unrealized love for the young 17-year-old Countess Juliette Guicciardi, who preferred the other.
