The upcoming M12 Fuel 3" cutoff tool was a huge surprise at NPS 2018 but it was one of my favorites. Fantastic ergonomics, excellent blade brake, and optional dust collection make this a remodelers dream tool.
Tile & stone installers, electricians, plumbers take note. This will be a fantastic addition to the arsenal.
Dust collection tuck point shroud included. The dust collection in cement board and drywall was excellent in the demonstrations.
One hand, inline design provides exceptional control and line of sight.
3 cutoff wheels included in the kit
20,000 RPMs
Super bright LED light
No-mar Rubber bumper on motor head
Reversible blade direction
On board battery gauge
Available: August 2018
Price: not yet available

The problem is it doesn't have enough torque and cuts out very quickly to save itself. I like it for small odd jobs, cutting toilet flange bolts for the beauty covers, resizing a few small tiles for taller baseboard, very small stuff like that, it's not a huge great tool and while I would buy it again, it would probably be after a few other tools. It doesn't cut through drywall or hardie backerboard well at all and unless you dealing with thin sheet metal it doesn't work for long cuts. (tried on 1/16 aluminum window flanges and it still didn't work)

To the people crying why not use you 4/½ in angle grinder has no clue what the purpose of this tool is/was made for! Try getting into a tight spot with your big ass grinder,try laying under your car trying to cut something or anything for that matter & last but not least how many times has your cut look like you started & stopped 5 or 6X cause it walked or was to heavy to keep a constant cutting due to the angle & position theres a reason it's called a grinder & this tool is a cut off tool,just look at the blades it comes with!! Hands down a great tool to have.

Make sure you use only XC batteries on this. The CP batteries choke it down when cutting steel. The 6 cell XC batteries let it cut at full power without shutting down. If you get carried away it will still shut down though.

I bought one and love it. Mine doesn't bog at all and if you use a 4.0 or better battery it last surprisingly long while cutting metal. Obviously this isn't made to cut 1/4 inch plate. Its like a glorified dremal tool. But its compact and plenty of juice when used properly.

This I can see as a good tool. I just got the m12 fuel drill and think it's pointless. No weight savings vs my Hitachi, and the handle is too fat. This would be nice tool to keep in my truck though to cut off locks when they lock me in at the state park areas. They lock me in alot, when it rains they put locks on the gates and you're trapped in hundreds of thousands of acres with no way to get out or to get food or water. This is why I started getting cordless tools. Safety in west Texas.

I bought this tool two years ago specifically for cutting clear laminate. The speed isn’t adjustable, so I ended up partly melting the work, due to the higher than necessary rotational speed. Also be aware, like any tool, cutting efficiency and power depends entirely on the type of battery you use.

@ThisTall
@ThisTall 6 лет назад
TOOLS by Design have you got to actually try it to compare the torque vs this mili? I compared the brushless drills Bosch vs mili and the Bosch impact was just as good and drill 80% as good as the M12’s while being 30% smaller and lighter. Was thoroughly impressed with the Bosch.
@TOOLSbyDesign
@TOOLSbyDesign 6 лет назад
Kermit You must not have compared the Bosch brushless 12v to the latest Gen 2 Milwaukee M12 brushless drill or impact. There is no comparison, Milwaukee is much stronger. The gen 2 M12 impact is Bosch sized but much stronger. The gen 2 M12 drill is still larger than Bosch but much stronger and still 1/2" chuck.
@ThisTall
@ThisTall 6 лет назад
TOOLS by Design that’s exactly what I compared, new and brushless in both brands, I use the M12 fuel drills installing cabinets everyday. I did a fully charged test on both drills driving 6” screws into lumber and 3” screws into solid white oak. Neither could drive more then an inch or so into the oak without stalling or snapping the screw, but it was perfectly clear the M12 drill was about 20% maybe 30% more powerful then the Bosch, while being almost 2x the size and weight, but there was next to no difference in the impacts. Even if I’m wrong and I just didn’t pay close enough attention somehow even though they both drove the whole 3” in the same time and speed, there’s no way it’s more then 10%. To be honest, imo Milwaukee doesn’t actually make a 12v driver, they just moulded a 12v battery onto the m18, hold them side by side and the battery is the only difference.
