If you are hooked on the promise of the BMW 3 Series' fine handling and sporty road manners, but need a practical luggage area, this is the car for you. The 3 Series Touring has the same 460-litre capacity as the saloon with the rear seats in place, yet the large tailgate makes access easier, and the rear seats fold to provide 1,385 litres of space. A huge range of engines is available, but any of the diesels will cope well with a car full of people and their belongings, while still returning good fuel economy.

Finally a reviewer who drives the luxury line which shows why the 3 series is a premium car. Not like 70% of people who just knows the cheapo base model... HUD, Automatic, Parking-Cams, Harman Kardon, Big Screen and you are good to go

I'm not a big fan of the boot lift technology. First it's an extremely simple technology: a proximity sensor under the boot lip that activates the automatic door opening when the key faub is within range of the car. The thing is, that the car needs to be unlocked for it to work... so you've already reached into your pocket and unlocked the car so why not hit the button that opens the door on the keys too! If they allowed this to work with a locked car it wouldn't be as safe... so it's just silly

Had an old B6 for a while, but that was the 1.9 PD. Haven't heard a CR in a while, but they're pretty nice if I remember rightly. Still, to me Beemer's sound pretty refined.

the only thing i dislike about the new 3-series (and most BMW`s nowadays) Is the lack of straight six engines. In the old 3-series the entry level straight six was the 325i and 325d. But now the entry level straight six so far is the 330d. And that`s sad...

Ultimate Driving Machine... BMW still spends more on their rear drive platforms than other premium brands and it shows. They don't use gimmicks like a turning a small popular front drive hatchback into a sedan and manipulate the driving dynamics/feel by the using AWD and software

Nicely equipped.. Mine costs 32 000 eu and you need to add like 20 000 more,to get the leather,the big LCD sat nav,the power seats,and few more gadgets,after which your 3 series with go into 5 series territory. Before you buy it though,take a close look where the windshield sprayers are located.. owners to expect serious issues during long parks under trees and also during the winter... Not impressed.

Damn, as much of a fan I have been of BMW for more than 20 years (and driven quite a lot of them), I can´t fall in love with that damn front end and that humpback whale protuberance on the hood. Honestly, I have tried to make the F30 grow on me, but I give up, I can´t. Loved my E90´s appearance, though...

Kick open boot is a good idea in theory but without any noise to warn you, if your not paying attention next stop will be the hospital,

I really want a European import BMW, The gas mileage is awesome! I think that the US government has negotiations with prime oil companies and made a mpg limit to 50 mpg, it really pisses me off, damn those oil companies!

The passat has this technology for over a year and it works with a locked car. I must admit though that I don't use it that much, it's a nice gadget but I feel silly when I'm waving my foot under my car :)

I like this but then the rear middle seats isn't really comfy to sit in and maintenance costs...kinda put off a little. :/

Surely it'sonly bigger on the inside because it's bigger on the outside. It looks massive now, especially remembering the E30 Touring. "Soft touch & decent materials". Yeah, the E39 5 Series had that, then it went all cheap with the E60. I've owned three BMWs & not one has steering feel anywhere near as good as my old Saab 900 T16's !!

Last gen 3 series had very high quality interior materials. There was almost no hard plastic, even in places where your hands would rarely go to. It just didn't 'look' premium.

I hate those boots that open by waving your foot under it. I tried it once but was too close to the car and it hit me in the head. One week later I still get headaches.

yeah THE "DOWNSIDES" whitch does not exist in our opion, only in jurnalist opinion, well without some invented downsides would 't be a review right ? So the engine sounds great, you can hear the good bmw engine rather the other cars like Audi or Merc disel, this is not a disavantage.. and start stop you can choose with out star stop so you contradic yourself Ms Rebeca

Geez, if you're going to lie, at least be a little more convincing! The official Bmw data says the best you can do in a bmw 320ed (saloon) while riding at a slow speed of 56mph (90kph) is 65mpg (3.6L/100Km). At 95mph (155Kph) doing 58mpg (4L/100Km)?!? It's not even funny how ridiculous it is...
