To mount the Makita charger to a wall I 3d printed some brackets with keymods that fit where the rubber feet go, so much better than double sided tape. Also one time in the late evening I was working on my car in the garage sitting on the ground when all of a sudden the electric heater tripped the fuse and everything went pitch black. I sat on the ground with no light, no phone, no flashlight, lots of stuff to trip over and an open pit, so I couldnt really find a safe way out... The only thing I could see was my little Makita impact wrench glowing in the dark sitting next to me, so I was able to grab it and make it out safely using its light. Seems like a useless feature but this one time it was a life saver...
I’m trying to decide on an 18v lineup, currently I have the Milwaukee 12v compact impact, my old hammer drill is at its end. Looks like the winner is MAKITA!
I just realized that in 4 months it will be 10 years since i bought my Maketa 1/2" LCT drill and 1/4" driver (they are actually LXT product line that comes with smaller battery, so they call them LCT for compact). Still going strong and even glows in the dark...
Loved my Makita XDT16 impact driver so much that I just ordered a TD001GZ from Japan (new 40v impact driver) for the extra power + made in Japan quality. Also got it in red lol.
unfortunately construction people are not the most delicate or dextrous, however im sure he knows the level of durability of that tool and that it wont break from that
Wow that glow is a neat feature! Here is a neat fact about the Makita for you. The rubber guard around Makita logo on the side of the drill and impacts, was my idea. Many years ago I spoke to a Makita representative at my local Home Depot(Canada).I told them that some contractor put down his beaten up Makita drill and slightly scratched my engineered flooring. I said it would be better if it had a rubber guard to keep the drill body off the floor. The rep said "I will address it with my research and development." Then they came out with that guard a year later.
Hey Vince, the makita chargers are mountable! Take off those rubber feet and look inside, they are actually rubber anchors! you just have to be able to screw in from the other side. Thanks for all you do!
I have one the older chargers that play music when done. I love it because it always gets your attention. Anyone around when it plays always stops and looks around and starts asking wth is that noise?lol any other charger you just have to go look and see if it’s done.
I'm pretty positive the new ones do as well, You have to take the battery out and put it in rapidly three times and it will make a tune saying you turned on the music.
Eli Wheeler I’ll have to check on that cause I recently bought a new 3.0 kit. I haven’t heard any music but I didn’t bothered looking at the manual yet. I actually prefer the music.
I don’t mess with those app stuff. I had no idea about it glowing in the dark until I was in a crawl space and my light went out! Wtf I was surprised by it glowing right next to me. Awesome stuff Makita makes Good shit Vince
I love how you can just touch the trigger and the led lights for a few seconds. I don't know if other brands have caught up to this, but I hated Dewalt where you had to hold the trigger down for light - made a big difference installing electrical under a bartop.
I have a Japanese made Makita impact driver "TD172D", with that driver you can choose to have the lights stay on indefinitely if you wanted to do that. :)
For some impact drivers, like the sub compat you can even turn the light on permanently by pressing the button for like 5 seconds or so or turn it of permanently... It's handy
I don't care what your disposition. Makita is a very old company. They have the longest line of tools at the presidents of battery operated tools. They were the forefront. Before DeWalt. And before Milwaukee
@@LemonySnicket-EUC Interesting, I wonder who had them first, Makita introduced their first cordless drill in 1978, and it really did not change much until like 1990 as I recall. It was the late 80's when the first one came into our house.
@@michaelbronson7410you might want to check yourself about me being wrong about something. Get the facts straight about who said what. 🤙 And he said they made the first "commercially usable" versions. How commercially usable were the Black and Decker junk ?
It’s a bit annoying that the charger has no easy way to be wall mounted, BUT...I use self adhesive Velcro tape. Holds it secure and you can still remove it when you need to.
Where does the xdt 14 fit in to this line up? A CO worker got one recently and from what I could find the 16 isn't available in kit form with hammer drill. I could be completely wrong.
Old post I know but can you still get the cases and do they cost more or less than an arm and/or leg? I like that better than the took bag I got with mine...
@@AntonioClaudioMichael Alright thanks man. I can probably fit the 1/2" drill and battery in my old case but not the charger. Oh well I will just make due with what I got!
Awesome video brotha keep rollin those cameras and doing what you do I just picked up the Makita drill+impact combo and no I didn't know the impact glows in the dark
Press the white release button in then press it in an out of the charger about 6 times then thensong will start keep pressing until u hear the song u like..
@@ericsalidbar1693 nope just slide it in an out about 5 or 6 times then the music starts. Keep going in an out till ya find the one I want. I go with the MLB wind up song i think that's the name there's a lil maybe Mozart that classical famous one usually play by violens. Not a lot of selection but the first time 🤯
@@codustv1465 I was wrong. I was mistaking the off-white bumper for a glow ring on my 550-in-lb. 90-degree impact and my 1200 in.-lb. impact (TD111D or DT04).
I didn't know about the Makita case, but that's only because I don't own one. If I did, I would have immediately seen how the lid was strangely molded, and I would have explored further. :) And as soon as I bought my Makita drivers, I took them into the dark to see if they were glow in the dark, because the color of the ring looked suspicious.
Wow you are sooo so smart! I bet your iq is like.. at least 180 or something! I have never seen such a smart comment on RU-vid that left me speechless! :O
What I have done with Makita chargers to hang on the wall. I take the charger apart and find some empty spots to drill holes and put screws away from anything that will arc in the bottom plastic. I cover the screw heads with electrical tape. I use half inch plywood smaller than the charger and use a forstner bit to cut out some on one side. I mount the side I cut on the plastic with the holes facing the plastic. On the other side I use a smaller forstner bit just under the other holes on the back. I use a drill bit to make the slot for the screw to slide up and lock in place. Works just like the real thing. 👍🏻👍🏻
VCG Construction it definitely is pain and Makita should do something about it! I think the cooling fans in the Makita Chargers are the reason why Makita wants them to sit flat so the fans don’t fail prematurely. You can also replace the chargers case fasteners with longer fasteners and screw on a 1/4” piece of plywood that is 2” longer on the left and right then mount it to the wall with that extra plywood sticking out. Industrial strength Velcro works very well and you can still take it off the wall easily if you wanted to take it with you! But you still have to grind the plastic down to make it flat. No matter what you do, there is some type of no turning back modification. 👍🏻👍🏻
Well I am just getting into the platform. ...have the router kit ...sliding miter...and CXT drill and impact driver. ..so far...just recently picked up the Sub Compact Recip...(Vince Reminder)..loving it
@@VCGConstruction I'm sure you will. ..just breaking your shoes a bit ... watching the vids you put out is seriously an education for me so it's appreciated
As an avid user of Makita tools that is old news to most of us. The 18volt right angle impact driver has it as well. Welcome to added Makita knowledge. Just bustin your chops a bit Vince. I Enjoy your channel.
Not hidden very well all the features ... my first 14.4 v Nimh makita impact driver had a glow ring.... but, hey, you make everything exciting! Nice video, I like makita tools , too. ( even over festool)
I saw a guy who used screws in the middle of those pads who keeps the charger from moving this expanded enough to grip so it could be mounted to some plywood and then mounted to the wall, just a tip there. Didnt look for the video but it is here on youtube:))
Im getting the impression that makita tools are relatively new in the us? Here in the uk ive been using makita for over 20 years. Great tools in the process of replacing all mine to the newer brushless models....... awesome
Is that it? I knew that the day I got mine years ago, I was hoping you found a secret way of making trigger less aggressive and go from stop to full blast 99% of the time, or some secret creep or pulse mode for very slow rpm
Hey Vince, love the videos. Would I suggest the next video would be of off brand batteries for impacts. I've bought some for my dewalt tools, 6.0 20amp battery. they work quite well w/5 year warranty. And saved a bit of cash of the side keep in mind they do look off with the tools but oh well 😂
