Nice!! I love this festival. I know how/why Lakhey came to Kathmandu and that he is the saviour of the children but whats the relation of Lakhey with Indra Jatra?
as per the stories told to me as kid. Magipa Lakhey is not a common Lakhey but he is the king of Lakheys. story says he attacked Kathmandu with intension to enslave people and eat them. during that time Kumari was the ruler of kathmandu and they had a huge war and finally Kumari defeated him. after his loss seeing his bravery and high potential kumari forgave him with the condition he will now be a protector of the people of kathmandu instead of destroyer. And he became like a guard of kumari. thats why he always comes in front of kumari during rath yatra.
Story sabai banawoti ho...reality maa indra ko aama birami vayera chahe parijaat ko phool lina chahe kathmandu aauxa ra indralok bata aru devta aayera lina aauxa...tyesh karan le indrajatra manaune gareko ho.
