VW/ Skoda Business model is different for India. India is the 3rd largest market for India. Secondly, the crossovers like kushaq and Taigun are not selling only because of dimensions. They look smaller than the competition. But the sedans virtus and slavia has shaken up the competition.
Lets compare India with rest of the world. If we are obsessed with safety we wouldn't be traveling in Bike, autorickshaw. Our concerns are Mileage, Insurance cost and service cost, Resale cost. Looking at these these VW is not good only from cost aspect. Riding a car is associated to cost in India not for fun. No one want to spend money for fun ride. If they want fun ride they can go to amusement park and have fun.
Lion doesn’t eats grass. It hunts and eat animals bigger than itself. So, people who can’t afford german cars and the bills they make. Should use the cheapest maruti suzuki cars, compromising with their life in the matter of build quality and will not also affect their pockets financially.
Hi guys, I have been watching your videos for some time. You are suggesting people not to buy 1ltr TSI engine all the time. Some of your points are valid, such as, it has some initial lag & also not very fuel efficient. It has some brake noise initially, but it reduces substantially after some use. AC may be an issue in a hot climate. I own Taigun 1 ltr TSI-Automatic, as well as 1.6 ltr NA 2012 Polo, which I bought brand new at that time. Polo doesn't have any lag since it's an NA engine. However, I find 1ltr TSI Taigun much more fun to drive even in hilly areas here in Kathmandu, Nepal. You just need to learn to manage the Turbo lag. I usually use the Paddle Shifters or put the car in Sports mode if I encounter some lag in heavy traffic or an incline. You learn to adapt to the caraterstic of the engine after a while. BTY I also own 1.3 ltr NA Mazda-3 & we pay 280% excise duty on imported vehicles. You can give your opinion & suggestions, but it's quite irritating frankly if you repeatedly tell people what to buy and not to buy. That's my own opinion regarding your videos. Ps. People also buy more Electric cars such as Hyundai Kona, Ionic -5, Teslas etc., here, even though there is much poorer DC Fast charging infrastructure than in India. The government also gives Import Tariff rebates on EVs. Hence, all depends on the buyer's preference & choice.

As a proud owner of a Škoda Octavia, I can attest to the excellent quality of Škoda cars. However, the reason for their low sales in India is due to the fact that Indian buyers prioritize road presence and affordability in terms of sales and service. Additionally, the new Kushaq model may seem smaller in comparison to its competitors. While the car itself is excellent, the poor service provided by Škoda can be frustrating for customers, and personally, I feel anxious when the service period comes around.
I don’t agree with you on one point: 1. 1 l engine is powerful one especially when driving with AT gear box. I own kushaq 1l AT and i dont feel it is a very powerful car. Haan if you compare it with 1.5 it is less powerful. Just like if you compare 1.5 tsi with 2.0 tsi, then you will not buy 1.5 tsi 2. If you compare with powerful cars like harrier (D), scorpio n, kushaq 1 l can beat those in drag races. 3. Price for 1.5tsi is too much, products are really good but it clashes with the price of upper segments cars like harrier, xuv. So people can go up there as car is still considered as status symbol in India
But I still think they are improving. Even 1 year back I hardly use to see any skoda/vw cars in my city (Kolkata). But now I can at least see 2 skoda/vw if I go out for a 30 mins to 1 hr drive in the city.
I purchased Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG on 30th March last week and got 18.6 KMPL on 31st for a 120KM trip end to end. I feel proud and happy while driving it. All other car owners look at me like enemy and try to overtake... but its Slavia 1.5, overtaking is mission impossible. hahahaha.
What do you think about Škoda Kodiaq? I am actually loving it. I think it comes with wet clutch with DSG. I don’t think it has reliability issues like DQ200.
I used Polo TDI for 7 years and now using Taigun 1.0 TSI for 3 months. I agree with your comments. Also plastic and build quality have been heavily compromised in Taigun compared to Polo/Vento. I wanted 1.5 TSI but the Manual version (GT) had ZERO features and was not VFM. However I don’t feel 1.0 TSI to be underpowered in City.
bilkul sahi bola uncleji and Daksh. Reason mujhe lagta hai inki pricing strategy and marketing Indian sentiments ko samajh nhi paa rhi. Agar inko sales badhani hain ya to features dene padenge ya price kam karna pdega kyunki indian mentality yhi dekhti hai bas. Mere paas khud Kushaq 1.5 MT hai kyunki mujhe driving ka shaunk hain, par mere aur apke jaise gine chune hi log hain

Bro sales kam hai due to the fact that the Chakan plant could only produce around 1,60,000 cars annually, out of which around 30% company is focussing on exports.moreover, VW’s ans Skoda’s touch points are just 150 each as compared to hyundai’s 900. So, these cars are selling in good numbers if we compare it to the total allowed production and the total available touchpoints. Rest all the issues highlighted by you are necessarily needed to be improved in these cars.

I own taigun 1.0 tsi from 10 months , 10k kmtrs...till now no issues...Not felt underpowered ...i always got a mileage of 18+ ...It's all depends on our driving dynamics...
(coming from a VW owner, vento tsi 1.0 + ameo 1.5 tdi) I disagree with a lot of things in this video. - The company in its 2.0 avatar is trying best to position it's brand as a premium mass market brand. That can only happen if they price it slightly above the competition and justify it with the good built, less faults, German engineering, safety and sheer driving pleasure. They need to work more on it definitely, but that strategy is actually right otherwise people will start to see vw as equals with the competition which they definitely don't want and they should not as well considering the built to last parts and engineering that goes. - VW India has somewhat made blunders definitely when it comes to meeting basic expectations of the mass market consumer, the non enthusiasts. The mass market segment (agreeing to what is said in this video) doesn't care about built, drive pleasure and all they care about is mileage and peace of mind. And that is exactly where they made blunder while launching the new cars and shaming themselves with EPC errors, worse CEAT tyres in them, AC issues, rattling noises etc. They should not have launched without checking these. BUT THE LATEST LOT OF CARS ARE VOID OF THESE ISSUES. NOTE IT! - I own a vento 1.0 and an ameo 1.5 TDI. Ameo's engine feel and torque rush is unmatched and I even got 24.5 kmpl on highways and average of 15 kmpl in the city. But is 1.0 a bad engine? NOT AT ALL. Turbo lag is there till initial 1800 rpm considering it's small capacity but after that its a rocket. Just check out drag race videos too where 1.0 has been seen defeating other higher capacity engines. Drivability in the city is not bad at all. BE IN LOWER GEARS in city and you won't feel any underpowered emotion. - Agree on the perceived size of the Kushaq and Taigun. What people in mass market segment think wrong is the bigger the car looks, the more the space inside. That's wrong. These two duos even with their smaller looks, have acres of space inside for a family of 4. Not 5. And trust me no car in the segment is a 5 seater truly. VW is not advertising this and that's another mistake that they are making. The major reason for less sales? Consumers in the mass market segment have been seeing Maruti, Hyundai while growing up. They have emotions attached with these brands no matter how unsafe these cars are. They still go to their showrooms first before even thinking of stepping inside a VW showroom. It's a branding game and VW will take time to build that brand image in the minds of people. Are they doing enough? Not at all.. Their advertising game not strong yet. Their ads online and offline marketing campaigns should be focused more on educating the consumer on how great their product is and how their product offers a better experience with lowered upkeep cost in 2.0 strategy. Features? Well yes its less than the competition and matching this with the competition would positively affect their sales. But, with that, the price will also go up and thst doesn't make the business sense because cost of making these cars as compared to other Korean rivals is much more even after localisation. (cost cutting is evident but i am talking about the mechanical parts used, not the interior, which also is NOT Bad AT ALL. ---------------- I think we lost really great brands from Indian market because of these videos exaggerating the bad about the brand and not talking about the good efforts that the brand is making to improve them and change their imagine with really good quality cars.
I have a question- in one video you mentioned that 1.0 is not suitable for city drives and in other video you mentioned that 1.5 is not suitable for city drives. Which one shall be considered if city drive is majority?

Drove in the new Amaze CVT from Bombay to Goa and back last week. Got a mileage of 20+. Saw maximum numbers of VW cars en route from Kolhapur to Goa. Was thinking of VW or Skoda. After this video idea dropped.
Bhai 1000cc ki baat nahi, yahi 1000 cc venue sonet mei bikta hai with same power torque. This engine comes in sub compact suv so why spend so much to have the same power. Also instead of three they should have given four cylinders with more power to make sales up.
Only features is the cause. Nothing else. I travel with 1.0 with 4 people and full load but never felt under power even in dalhousie or any other terrain. Need 360 degree, ADAS etc for more sales. That's it. All engines are good. Other brands also sells 1.0 engine near to this price range
Well I like the conversation and I can see the love towards vw nd soda. But reality is after sale services and peace of mind for customers maters especially India type of country. Brand is good no doubt but company need to improve service experience and showrooms are looting money from customers charging very high amount of money. Simply says it’s German brand u need to spend and need to maintain, what the fish even if Germany or other country what’s matter if u over charge money bcz of brand? Soon these brands run out like ford… Even if u do n number of videos like that thing’s never change. See Tata strategy how they boost the customer base in last 5 years it’s tremendous… Just imagine with love and drive enthusiast brought a car and just got heartbroken after seeing first service bill of vw polo for 15k… is it fare? Vw and soda wake up change the strategy and ways of working for after sales and service. Bring down the service charges and build a plan that service by showroom has to be transparent and customer friendly then only middle class segments people can choose these brands

i still have 2 issues in my car LOL after 1.5 years of ownership airbag error showed up - due to service center carelessness clutch started failing - they are replacing some part for it I have been to service center so many time, they are my friends now. after all this, I love the car. but these things should not happen, not sure for how long I'll be able to bear this
You people please see the present situation. There is problem with skoda kudhaq and Slavia. There is no problem with Slavia. You are against the skoda ok. Only Rs.25000 for four years service and service oil and extra ok maintenance. You will know while overtaking any car on highway with Skoda car of 1.0. i am getting 20 kmpl on highway ok. In city i am getting 13 kmpl ok.
It has reached. VW doesn’t see India as a market to survive. They sell in over 150 countries and for them, as long as their 1.50 lac Chakan plant is selling all cars per year, they are happy. They made 295 Billion USD last year globally as revenues, num 1 and more than Toyota. My heart pains to say this but they don’t see India as a mature & profitable market.

Whatever it is I refuse to agree to the claim this project of vw wasn’t successful. The taigun was in top 20 most selling cars for 4 months straight and the virtus gt has the biggest cult following in drag races. The Tiguan and kodiaq have managed to be claimed better and more sporty than luxury cars like x1 or q3 And they yet have countless cars to be made on that platform so how can this be said. Yes cost cutting and quality downgrade has occurred but isn’t the success or new potential the brand has earned not overshadowed it??

You should wait till they launch 1.5 Ltr in Highline as Skoda are doing now. And Honda might come up with a new Compact SUV this year, so its going to be worth a wait.
Polo, vento rapid pehle se hi 4 seater thi ab slavia virtus taigun size badha ke bhi inhone backseat hi aisi banai hai narrow shoulder room abhi bhi vaha 4 jane hi baith parahe hai. VW ko under 4m me car banani chahye india me tax benefit bhi milega ache space ke saath chahe 1 litre hi ho usme.Polo,rapid vento band karke galti kardi. Aur toh aur skoda rapid vo toh 4m se above thi length uska bhi top model 10-12 tak ajata tha band hone se oehle aur quality of materials dashboard ya kuch bhi upmarket lagta tha lekin ab base model hi 13.50-14 shuru hotahai.

Most of important thing is no marketing from company on tv and other channels in India for affordable service ,safety etc we hardly see any adds from them
मैने 1 सप्ताह पहले पोलो की सर्विस कराई, जिसमें नॉर्मल सर्विस हुई जिसका लेबर कॉस्ट केवल 1500 के आस पास आया, कुल 7255 का बिल आया जिसमें आगे पीछे का वाइपर ब्लेड बदला गया ₹2400 का, वाइपर का लिक्विड लिया ₹300, 2 काम नही कराया , कार वाश नही कराई जिसका कॉस्ट 550 था क्योंकि मुझे जल्दी थी और AC disinfectant नहीं कराया जिसका कॉस्ट 950 था। अगर इसको भी जोड़ लेते तो 3200 लेबर कॉस्ट आता। Service में एक चीज जरूर ध्यान देना है कि काम क्या हो रहा है वो देखना है कि क्या गैर जरूरी काम हो रहा है, उसको नही कराओ, अपने आप बिल कम आएगा। अभी इसके पार्ट्स के दाम भी कम हुए जैसे मोबिल ( ( पहले 2900 था ,अब 1950 )और एसी फिल्टर का भी ( पहले 650 अब 400)। बाकी कुछ सर्विस सेंटर वाले चुना लगाने के लिए बैठे हुए ही, हर ब्रांड की कार में।खुद सावधानी रखना है। कई जगह तो ऑल्टो और वैगन आर का भी बिल 10000 का बिल बना देते है।
