இந்து மதம் என்பது ஒரே அடிப்படைகளை வேராகவும் பல்வேறு பிரிவுகளை கிளைகளாகவும் கொண்ட ஒரு பெரிய மரம் போன்றது. சைவம், வைணவம் என்பதெல்லாம் அதன் கிளைகள்தான். அவை தனித்தனி மதங்கள் அல்ல. இந்து மதத்தில் உள்ள வழிபாட்டுவகைப் பிரிவுகள்தான் அவை. அதனால்தான் வெளிநாட்டு மதங்களைப் பின்பற்றாத இந்தியர் எவரும் இந்துதான் என்று சட்டம்‌ அமைத்துள்ளனர். வெள்ளைக்காரன் சரியாகப் புரிந்தே சட்டம் இயற்றினான். நமக்குத்தான் அது புரியவில்லை! சட்டம் என்பது துல்லியமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அந்த நோக்கத்துக்காக சட்டத்திலும் அரசாங்க விதிகளிலும் இவ்வாறு எதிர்மறையாக வரையறுப்பதை நிறைய காணமுடியும். 'இந்து அல்ல', 'இந்து அல்ல' என்று கதறுபவர்களின் நோக்கம் உண்மையில் மதமாற்றக்கார்கள் போடும் எலும்புத்துண்டுக்காக அவர்களுக்கு உதவுவதுதான்!

மதம் என்ற சமஸ்கிருதச் சொல்லுக்குப் அடிப்படைப் பொருள் 'கொள்கை' என்பது. ஒரு விஷயத்தைப் பற்றி இருவர் வெவ்வேறு கருத்தைக் கொண்டிருந்தால் 'இது இவர் மதம்', 'இது அவர் மதம்' என்று கூறுவது வழக்கம். உதாரணமாக பகவத் கீதையில் கிருஷ்ணர் பல இடங்களில் கருத்துக்களைக் கூறும் போது, "இது என் மதம் (கருத்து)" என்று கூறுகிறார் ( கீதை 3.31, 3.32, 6.47,13.3). தற்காலத்தில் 'மதம்' என்ற சொல்லை Religion என்ற விரிந்த பொருளில் பயன்படுத்துகிறோம். இதைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளாததால்தான் இன்று இந்து மதம் பற்றி இவ்வளவு குழப்பம்! ஆதிசங்கரர் தொகுத்ததாகக் கூறப்படும் ஷண்மதம் என்பது ஆறு religionகள் அல்ல. முற்காலத்தில் 400க்கு மேற்பட்ட மதங்கள் இருந்ததாகக் கூறுவர். அவை யாவும் தனித்தனி religion அல்ல. இந்து மதம் என்ற ஒரே religionல் ஒவ்வொரு விஷயத்தில் சற்று வெவ்வேறு கருத்து கொண்டவைதான் இத்தனை பிரிவுகளும். வெவ்வேறு மதங்களாக இருந்த ஆறு மதங்களை இணைத்து ஆதிசங்கரர் ஒரே இந்து மதமாக ஆக்கியதாக சிலர் கூறுவது முற்றிலும் தவறானது. இவை அனைத்தும் ஒரே இந்து மதத்தில் ஏற்பட்ட வழிபாட்டுப் பிரிவுகள்தான். சிவன், சக்தி, திருமால், கணபதி, முருகன் எல்லாம் இந்து மதக் கடவுள்கள்தான். ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் இஷ்ட தெய்வம் வெவ்வேறாக இருக்கும். தங்கள் இஷ்ட தெய்வத்தை பரம்பொருளாக் கருதி வழிபடும் வழிபாட்டுவகைப் பிரிவுகள்தான் இவை. இவற்றை மதம் என்று குறிப்பிட்டது religion என்ற பொருளில் அல்ல. 'கொள்கை' என்ற பொருளில்தான். இந்தப் பிரிவுகள் அனைத்துமே வேத, ஆகமங்களையே அடிப்படையாய்க் கொண்டவை. வெவ்வேறு அடிப்படை கொண்டவை அல்ல.

Rama did nit see Ravana as a BRAHMIN, but as a womaniser, a rapist, a murderer. And hence punished. Exactly what Raja Raja Chozhan did. He killed as what thise brahmin did was wrong, did not excuse them for their caste, religion, language.. That is what a true leader should do
