Diabetes has tripled globally since 1975 according to WHO. Overweight or obesity is the prime cause of diabetes. Obesity lays stress on your immune system, and your heart and it leads to diabetes. Excess weight especially obesity diminishes almost every aspect of health from reproductive and respiratory function to memory and mood. Obesity raises the risk of multiple diseases like stroke, asthma Alzheimer’s and many types of cancer. The main reason for obesity is sugar, high fructose corn syrup, ultra processed foods and sedentary life.
Type 2 diabetes is characterized by insulin resistance, high blood sugar and a relative lack of insulin. It’s also defined by a decline in the function of beta cells in the pancreas, whose primary role is to keep blood glucose levels in check by producing and releasing insulin into the bloodstream. The daily caloric intake reduction of 12 percent - just 300 calories - allows individuals to lose weight and body fat. The cholesterol levels and triglycerides will fall. The blood pressure will is reduced. Blood sugar will be in better control and less inflammation. There will be improvements as increased energy, better sleep and enhanced mood. Weight loss of as little as 3 to 5 percent of body weight begins to improve insulin action and glycaemic control.
