Shieeeeet.....it's a kid ffs, there is only one time in ur life when u can be a kid.Otherwise what's the point of being born even? It's strange and tragic that he understood and accepted his fate, and his goal and reason and justification for the meaning of his life,to accept such a reality is not easy,he must love his parents alot..how many people even grasp that in their lives or think about it,the fate of their lives like that,I mean sure people think about and contemplate the meaning of their lives and existence alot but not in such a manner

I worked as a kid to help my parents out and I feel that I'm better off because of it. I learned how important having money is but at the same time I'm not greedy because I learned that you just need the basic necessities and can be happy without "keeping up" with others who show off their money. I don't need brand names, jewelry, or luxury items. And like him, I wanted to be a doctor and eventually became one.

Yup, there are different kinds of "work for money", yes the kid is working for money, but the money is used to support the family. And there is a different kind of work for money, which is a kid working for a long time to get money to buy branded items because his peers have that. (Nike shoes, branded overprice phones etc). The latter is getting pulled around by unnecessary items designed by capitalists to siphon money from those that have disposable funds. This kind of "lifestyle" based expenses can overwhelm young people, if they get trapped in that they will have a hard time to wake up and understand that these items are not the things that define them hence their hard earn money shouldn't be wasted on those first.

It is definitely sad. You have so much privilege that you never have to deal with being in this situation, that's why you can look at it and romanticise it instead of realising that this is just what poverty looks like. There is nothing wonderful about this. Children can bond with their parents in other ways, way better than through having to work long hours doing tedious work.

@@mr.stickguy6841 Actually he is forced to work. He is not forced by his parents but he is forced to by his circumstances. And the fact that he does this on weekends doesn't make it better. A bitter scene to watch, but we can do nothing but to watch. Instead, we should just look at the bright side at this, and forget for a moment the obvious the reason why they have to do this job. I started working when I was 8yrs old at my family restaurant and that was 7 days a week almost 365 days a year until I went off to college when I was 16. I learned how working was a means to survival and is required to achieve anything in life but not to my only path to my success. I learned responsibility, flexibility, survival, confidence, grit, resillience, value of money, and determination. The experience equiped me to be an adult at an early age but in the same time I lost most of my childhood but I don't regret it. I do wish I had some of the experiences other children had but I wouldn't be as successful as I am without going through the journey I had. I empathize with these children and the burden they have on their young strong shoulders. I hope they learn that this is not the only path and don't get trapped in that tough life. I know many kids that had this life and got stuck in it and there are others like me that feared living like that forever and fought to get out of it. I wish them a brighter future.

When I watch these stories of Chinese children I feel we American’s have let our children down. Ofc I’m not saying all but a large majority of our children now a days are not taught the importance of hard work and the importance of a family unit as they grow up. As a child the south we were made to work in the garden and on the farm. It really does instill a sense of pride.

People saying these kind of people will probably become sucessful dont know that poor hard working people will stay poor hard working people. With no education and no money they wont be able to earn much money. They will also be chained by their feelings of responsibilitiy for their parents and siblings. As long as they dont find methods to make the production easier and more efficient, it will be a really hard life. Maybe they will be lucky enough to find partners who share their life. But thats it. I also grew up helping my parents with household and their restaurant business since elementary school, no wage, no free time, not enough time for studies and bearly enough earnings from the business because parents dont like changes to the working system they build up. So one cant improve the business itself much. And as long as one cant break free from the chains due to obligation and responsibility to their familym it will become an eternal chain. The problem is as one is still young, one wont think of the future enough and as soon as they grow older they will start to accept this kind of life as their fate... its a sad and harsh life, not an aspiring one to be honest. I pray for those young people to find a smoother road for themself and their family so they wont have to live like this in the future.
