Baby, you could jump a hundred times There's just no way that you'll ever fall out of my graces, out of my graces Let's say for a second that you ever do And it gets hard to look at you Time will erase it, time will erase it You can use me up, kick me down As much as you like, we're good on time Cause, guess who desperately wants you, over and over Over and over Guess who desperately wants you, over and over Over and over You can cut your hair just to grow it back Or dye it till the sink turns black I'll recognize you, I'll recognize you When you lose your way and I'm doing fine I'll even lose my place in line I'll help you find it, I'll help you find it Cause, guess who desperately wants you, over and over Over and over Guess who desperately wants you, over and over Over and over Fadeout Cry at the hands of you before I laughed at something new Cause over and over, I'm breaking my heart just to save your own
This sounds like a song you would request on the radio and call your love to listen to the radio because you want to apologize for being a jerk and you really love them and just want to hold them in your arms again.
This is a song I would play to myself to remind myself that I will keep loving and trying to be the best version of myself that I can be, in this amazing yet brief life that I have.
This has the feel of Continuum. Definitely fits. I can see me singing this, poorly, in the car to a memory from that time period that never happened. Good tune.
How about that doctor last night having candlelight dinner with John 🤯 . The fact that John’s work is literally helping people who help people. His music reaches you, it transcends time and place. I won’t call the station because I don’t have a remarkable question to ask him but John if you are reading I love this song & I love you more today “old John “ than ever before. Thank you for sharing yourself and your music with us . The sacrifice doesn’t go unnoticed. Cheers to you and continued success, however you define it.
It was great for sure but the lyric "Kick me down" fits so much better in this version because the sudden modulation to a nondiatonic chord seemed to me that it needed what this has. Plus this solo rocks
The demo sounds so different than his acoustic version. JM’s voice has evolved so much since the continuum days. My favorite album of all time. ❤ so blessed to have JM as one of the greatest artist.
Good slow dance kind of song… the kind where it’s not in a burning room, but perhaps after the fires, and it’s just burning embers and debris, and they’re still dancing. This song is truly an excavation of a hidden gem.
That's a perfect description for this gem!! I am no spring chicken, & young passionate love evolves to something even more warm & lovely IF you can hang in & get thru the tough times - very grateful - just LUV this song ❤❤
damn. Imagine a song as beautiful as this that did not make the album... you can just really appreciate how great Continuum is. but this one is so beautiful too; pretty sure if he makes an album of songs that did not 'quite' make it, it will still sell.
You are very, very talented. You need to polish this song up and drop it as a single on behalf of all your bands we would really like to see this as a single.
@@bikashtangha7904 Yes, you are correct. I just went back to listen to it again. I guess my memory remembered it acoustic because it is so simple and beautiful. Thanks for the clarification. It is probably my most favorite song I have ever heard John sing, and funny that it was just an impromptu “performance.” John, if you ever see this, please record that simple version. It’s gorgeous. 💕
My dad grew up in the 70s listening to the likes of Jackson Browne and the Eagles: one of the first songs he learned on guitar was Take it Easy. I grew up on that kind of music as a result. As a guitar player now myself, I spent my high school years learning songs from Continuum, and the rest of John Mayer’s catalogue, and he’s my guitar hero now. My Silver Sky is my baby. To see a collaboration between these two feels like seeing my dad and myself playing together the way we do. Big thanks to John and Jackson for this beautiful performance. It meant a lot to see it. And to Bob Saget for giving us Full House that I also grew up on :)
I would love it if he would FINALLY release this, it's a gem. I think this suits his more mature vocals that he has now and would do great for single before his next album. Can't wait to see whats in store for John and all us fans.
Why is this beautiful track not on the record, it's such a GREAT SOUNDING BEAUTIFUL TRACK Johnny. You've got to release this as a Single EP. This Version and Acoustic Version. Thanks Johnny
Anyone else imagining a screaming guitar solo being played to the live version of this that didn't make WTLI, with that Belief lead tone ? I can actually hear the crowd in my head and see girls making gooey eyes at him. The second solo picks up from the drop.
John Mayer, I truly believe that every sound that flows from your lips and springs from your guitar 🎸 is magic. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I know you may have good and bad days and I pray that whatever you may need at this very moment, Jesus is providing. You have blessed my life with your music. Thank you so much!
Continuum came out in a very interesting time of my life. It was tumultuous, I thought I knew what was up, but I didn't. Now, "stop this train" and "heart of life" really speak to me. Thank you, John.
I miss this kind of music. Sob Rock is so good, I think you ought to work your way backward, and do a 70’s, a 60’s, and a 50’s album. I bet it would be a really fun challenge and a lot of us would love it!
This would have been a massive hit if John released it back in the aughts. Still could be a big hit today, but boy it would’ve been MASSIVE back in the day.
I loved this song when I first heard a few notes a few years back & just now I'm transported to A very amazing first slow dance in a school gym, somewhere in time, thank you for this magic you inspire 🎸💫z
He has been my inspiration since I was probably in my 8th standard, now it's time....2 months more to go I will embrace music for good...thanks SIR JOHN MAYER....❤❤
@HelsGreaterThan 😂😅 This is the Greatest comment! 👏 Lol. It's something I'd be willing to do as well ha ha.. This comment is Completely me lol 😅. Take care :) 🎶
I love this song, it's so fragably beautiful, passionately sung, beautiful words, musical topper John Mayer. The best musical guitar killer, sounds matching lyrical O so good, wonderman a package packed in its entirety, how can I better articulate this man.❤❤❤
So on another podcast He explained that it was Going to be too popular and didn’t want his career to be over shadowed by a love song again like daughters did. So he just used the “it’s not finished yet” excuse to not release it😂really wish he did tho.
Long time John Mayer fan and I must say it was refreshing to hear this track. It was nice hearing one of the most familiar and treasured voices that help write the soundtrack to my life, has had this song in his collection of great music for me to listen and hear a song for the first time and feel like a young fan again, hearing something new to you for the first time. Terrific work as always Mr. Mayer and thank you for brightening my day as you often do.

Hi This song is so amazing!! Lovely to hear it now. John Mayer is by far the best artist to come out of the 90s. His incredible voice & guitar playing melts me day in & day out. His musical genius & sexy elequance memorize me. He is the most handsome man in the world 🌍 I'm very much in love with John Mayer ❤
@JohnMayerUSA, you have such an awesomely unique style of writing not just fabulous music but your lyrics never sound like lines we’ve heard in other songs! Your talent is immeasurable and, combined with your commitment to your art, is guaranteed to ensure a very long, creative and successful career for as long as you desire!
'guess who, never forgets you' is just such a perfect lyric. Well done John. I know it's a demo, but the mix seems a little out of whack, still amazing that these demos are seeing the light of day, thanks for posting it up :)
Been waiting for this for a while. Sounds great. Can tell its an old demo though. I think with a bit of polishing from 2024 John it could be a really great song to add to the catalogue.
one of his best songs, has the continuum sound that i absolutely LOVE, everything is very simple, yet so beautiful, thats why i will always love john mayer, he knows that less is more even tho he can be a beast on guitar, but on continuum everything was just plain and simple ( i know i said that already 😁). Thanks for sharing!
I like the version he played with acoustics before, where he uses 1645 instead of 1625 for chorus, think 4maj7 got that even sadder vibe😭 But still soooo great to hear the entire song finally
