CNN’s Danny Freeman has new details about the two people who survived the Baltimore bridge collapse and an Uber driver who narrowly missed being caught up in the tragic event. #CNN #News
That's because he didn't fall 185 feet straight down unimpeded. He rode a massive object into the water. That object didn't free fall, either. Some parts swung down, more than they fell.
likely the debris hit the water before he did causing the water to ripple and break the solid barrier water creates which i think saved his life as well
With all these stories out there, let’s keep in mind it’s about these 6 men who lost their lives and their families and the first responders who risked their lives each day to save others. I am here In Baltimore and have driven on that bridge hundreds of times, I have been a firefighter for over 20 years and can’t imagine running that call. There still work to be done to recover the other 4 men, this will be dangerous for the recovery team let’s pray for them.
Thank you for this ...d everyone forgets the hero first responders who, like you, risk their lives daily. Blessings & gratitude to you all, prayers for safety 🙏🏻
Not a firefighter......but a 41 year maryland guy here. And yes I was on that bridge to pass to upper Marlboro for at least a month( doing concrete) These "news" outlets need to find some humbling to there oath. For sure. There is alot more than ports being delayed going on
@@martyguy8185 brother, thank you for all your hard work I know that’s not an easy job. The funny thing is these events become all about the politicians and money, not the real people doing the work.
*Gee, anyone know how many major bridges were destroyed, planes falling apart, train derailments, chemical explosion catastrophes, food processing plants burned down, etc. under Trump's watch? -Oh, yeah, and how many more 100s of 1000s of Ukrainians were alive then compared to now?* *I forgot already.*
After Satan snatched that poor individual that fell 185ft into the fridge darkness of hell. As he cried out in the name of Almighty Father God. Our father in heaven sent angels to guide him to safety. Of course I would be stressed out after a near death experience. Just give that man his space and turn over to our Almighty Creator. He got this!😊
@paulhegwood5062 so every time a child dies the Angels must have that day off. He survived because he was lucky that the debris did not fall on top of him that's it.
Praying he can come to grips with what they call I think Survivor remorse. I pray for them, their families, a 2:30, and everyone on the ship, their lives are changed forever also. God bless them all with the rescue team and volunteers.

Maybe the guy doesn't want to be pestered by the media after surviving such an ordeal a little space and time is exactly what these people need in order to process what happened
One interview from a surviving victim with the press would pay for all expenses of all the victims and some. They should know that? So why don't they come forward? hmmm

If you watch the bridge video there's two cars that just make it across before it collapses, imagine being one of those people, and probably heard and saw it in their rearview mirrors.
@@bearb1asting I guess the people would have to get a hold of NTSB if they felt they had anything of value to add, if it were me, but I sure wouldn't want to talk to the media.
@@MG-ot2yr I'm sure the bridge has license plate cameras. I'd be shocked if it didn't have cameras of some kind. Media does suck, but the NTSB is pretty good about just talking to people, then leaving them alone.
@@bearb1asting That is a nice thought, but those folks would contribute nothing to the investigation being undertaken by the NTSB. The focus of the NTSB investigation is to uncover what transpired on board the container ship Dali prior to and during the collision with the Key Bridge.
Salute to the construction workers that lost their lives in this disaster! I cannot stop thinking about them. Please know that you have my sincerest condolences!
The construction worker who lived will probably have PTSD and Survivors Guilt for the rest of his life. Still, better to suffer and be alive than dead. He is still in shock and also grieving the loss of family members and co-workers now.
I have PTSD. Its gotten better for for a very long time I believed it was not worth living through. I feel awful for that poor man, it changes you when something like this happens. No amount of therapy or drugs can change it back to being untraumatized. You have to go through it. I pray for him.
Immigrants from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico doing the physical labor to keep American infrastructure intact died on that bridge. In any population there are mostly good people just trying to live and take care of families... and a few bad apples. Polls indicate that Americans can't distinguish good from bad apples.
I bet Feminists who demonize all men are among those polls. THIS is the kind of work that men does to keep our civilization intact. This is the reason of the income wage gap between men and women.
@@JJ-kl5yj…..You have to get to know an individual well in order to assess their character. Saying that Americans are poor at knowing good apples from bad is a ridiculously blanket statement which fails to take into account the diverse character and humanity of tens of millions of individual Americans. You comment’s intonation is that Americans are just naturally prejudice.
Who cares where they’re from? Fact is people died in a tragedy. Up playing where they’re from is just as bad as downplaying it in other circumstances. Get your woke agenda out of here!
"If my passenger wouldn't have been late...." How often are we saying we shouldn't be upset about delays for exactly this reason? If only the construction workers wouldn't have been working that day 😢
Exactly I really do hate some people they just need to shut the f**k up and quit making crap up in there heads that didn't really happen it was just a accident
It's just like the Marines in Iraq. My brother was KIA & the people who served with him all have survivor's guilt. The 2 people who survived the bridge collapse will likely need a good amount of therapy to be able to work past this horrific accident they have been through. I am sad for those who didn't make it. I live 20 min from this bridge & will remember them every time I drive over the new one that's constructed.
I would like to hear from the driver of the semi truck that you can see driving over. That semi had to of been the last vehicle over. It looks like he/she made it over within seconds of the bridge collapsing.
From "The Hill" published 03-27-2024 On Wednesday evening, Maryland State Police announced a red pickup truck was found among the underwater wreckage. Inside were two of the trapped victims: 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, from Mexico, and 26-year-old Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, from Guatemala. Four others were still missing and presumed dead. Two of the victims were Mexican nationals, two were from Guatemala, one was from El Salvador and one was from Honduras. All were employed by Brawner Builders.
@@isabelleg9118Agreed. The cargo ship is nearly as long as the Eiffel Tower is tall…..I can’t imagine it wouldn’t dwarf anything less than an aircraft carrier next to it.
Reporter: Do you know what items are affected by this collapse? CEO: Yea lots of inventories, automobiles, and quite frankly major inventories and a slew of inventories…
@@robertpalmer3166 Did you look at the video? That crane is the size of an ant. This might be clear in 100 years if that's all they got. I'm sure there is more on the way though.
Honestly, every interview I hear from that construction company sounds like they are all in shock. I can’t imagine being remotely coherent trying to be this company’s spokesperson to the media, especially if I knew any of the victims.
This is gonna be tricky I think, because a lot of those marine heavy lift cranes if you look at them are for lifting things up from underwater, and they straddle the load because it's usually underwater. Lifting heavy, from one side, in the water is much harder to do because it causes the crane boat to flip. They need a crane/oil derrick that can sink to the bottom for more support.
@@user-zh3ow4nh3prespectfully, it could be interpreted both ways. “Just wasn’t his day” usually implies they had a stroke of bad luck. Obviously op meant just wasn’t his day (to go, to meet his maker, etc).
Is so sad to know that there is more coverage and praise about the ones that survived and yes they are blessed to have survived, but the ones that are dead that had families that they were providing for in their countries that will not have that support anymore, my question is if there is anything that will be done for those families ? Or is it going to be overlooked like 9/11 was overlooked with all the ones that were working there that the families never got anything from anyone as those that lost their lives that day never existed and never were there. Is so wrong.
They were busting their butts to provide for their families. Now, the wives are suddenly single mothers with mouths to feed, scrambling to figure out a way to pay the bills while in a state of shock and grief. Yes, I know that around the world, accidents or illness robs families of their breadwinners every day. That doesn't mean this is any less tragic 💔
@@kevinpreston5590 It's not supposed to be a show. But since it doesn't do anything, I guess people have to say they're doing it or no one would ever know.
@@randmiller88 Its not. Those that say they are but are not doing it are not real Christians. Those that do it for show are not real Christians. Didn't answer the question of why keep prayer in private
I pray to God for all the families of the Lost Souls and Survivors . I also beg that attention is brought to MAGA that these are HARD WORKING Men who migrated to our extraordinary country for a better life for their families. These men are the embodiment of the truth about Immigration. 🙏
No bridge dolphin protection They would of saved the bridge. According to the AASHTO bridge design specifications, a dolphin is a protective object that may have its own fender system and that is usually circular in plan and structurally independent from the bridge. Their main function is to protect adjacent structures from the impact of a vessel.
These are not stories of human survival. They are stories of chronological coincidence. If someone avoids an accident by sheer coincidence, that isn't a testament to their survival instincts. It's just dumb luck.
I cannot understand how cruise liners and in this case, this massive cargo ship loaded with 10,000, 200ft long containers are allowed to maneuver into and out of the port without the help of tugboats??? How come no thoughts about this from journalism and people managing the Baltimore ports.
That port and many others have specialist pilots who drive boats in and out of the harbor. The problem here doesn’t appear to be that particular local pilot, it’s that the ship lost power, possibly twice, at a critical steering moment. From what has been released from the investigation, they called out for tugboat help once steering was compromised but it all happened in a few minutes time.
As far as I know about ships, the answer to that is a *sort of* yes. They have backup power for smaller systems, like communications, lights, reduced steering, etc - but if the cathedral engines that power the propellers go out, there's not usually backup engines to keep them turning.
@@goobernoodles Yeah, that's true, too. I'm just a hobbyist who takes a lot of interest in ships, so don't quote me, of course, but my guess as to what happened her was that the ship's engines failed somehow, and because there was a converging channel to the starboard side, the ship started to veer to the right and wasn't able to course-correct. Given how small the margin of error that was allowed by the bridge for passing ships, just a few degrees of uncontrolled turn would have been more than enough.
Preparedness is the key to everything. The most important back up is people following regulations. Apparently, regulators have been looking the other way when it comes to fuel. ⛽ That is kind of an ongoing systemic problem with the entire petroleum industry.
This is so horrible. I never like crossing bridges because you hear of these horrible stories. I do know one thing i would find out why that ship lost power and how it was maintained before traveling on water where bridges are. These men that died and their famlies need answers to how this happened. That poor man that lost his relatives. It's just a miracle many more didn't die.
From all the stuff I've watched and read, it's because they threw it in reverse when they realized they couldn't stop the direction is was going, in an attempt to stop the ship. Now I'm now expert by no means but that's what all the things I've seen and read say
when you give mash your foot to floor in a semi they used to call it rolling coal. that diesel is giving you everything it can and the diesel fuel it can't burn turns to black soot. some of us guys dig it.
This is caused by 'wet stacking'. Look it up for more information. Essentially there is more fuel injected into the engine than it can reasonably burn under the given circumstance. Someone pinned the throttle in an attempt to provide reverse thrust.
Please refrain from saying God must've been looking out for the survivors or for the ones who were nearly on the bridge because then God was not looking out for the victims?
In the mid 1960s, we lived in Northern N Jersey and one of our dear friends / neighbors was a family whose father was a manager at Sea Land who helped invent the container shipping cargo system in the 1950s / 60s. His son (my bestie friend from those days) also ended up in a similar capacity in the shipping biz, prior to retiring a few yrs. ago. I bet the elder dad probably didn't envision how big these loads would become; I haven't been in touch w/ his son for years, so I have no way to get his "take" on all these issues.
The force that hit that bridge was strong, I leave in Dundalk about 8 minutes from this bridge driving, and I felt like this was a big storm or tornato the windows of the house felt like shutters like they were going to break for the force of the wind and some of my neighbors felt like an earthquake magnitud four, the houses shaked.. I imagine the harbor tunnel at 95 probably has been demage but nobody talk about it. This was like an earthquake magnitud around our neighborhood also 895 tunnel structure probably has beeen demage by the force of the impact. I hope transport Administration can inspect this tunnels.
Coincidence, Mountain Dew comes out with a drink right before Maui fire called "Maui Burst." Then before the bridge collapse they come out with "Starspangle Splash!" They even have one yet to come, "Summer Freeze!"
It's sad to think that these men chose to work in the US far away from their home country to live and realize that American Dream but ended up paying the ultimate price. RIP to their souls, I hope they get the justice they deserve and people held accountable if negligence is proven.
Amazing! The will to live sometimes defies our imaginations. Happy for the two who survive and saddened about those who perished leaving behind so many broken hearts 💔 The family that lost 2/3😔
The will to live of the survivor who ended up in the water must have been very strong indeed. He does not know how to swim but he managed to surface and get himself to shore despite enduring darkness, cold water and river currents. Must have done that on pure adrenaline.
UNDER WATER DRONES ? ... in a seaport? ... eg. Deep Trekker, ROV ...handheld controller and intuitive piloting system, ...underwater inspections in harsh environments.
Why the USA don't get one of the world's largest ship cranes equipped to lift the broken pieces of the bridge rather than the tedious task of cutting it into pieces. This job would have been completed days ago. The USA could use Heavy duty Lifting Vessels like the HLV Svanen(8700 tonnes, the SSCV Thialf Dutch Vessel with a lifting capacity of 14,200 metric tons, or the Chinese Zhen Hua 30 with a lifting capacity of 7,700 metric tons. There are cranes that can fit the scope of this job and complete the job in a short time.
THEY PROBABLY WERE SITTING IN THE TRUCK ON THEIR BREAK JUST CHILLING AND TALKING AND THEN DAM THE SHIP HIT THE BRIDGE...MAY THEY REST IN PEACE...THIS IS SCARY AND CRAZY...I NEVER LIKE DRIVING OVER BRIDGE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CAN SEE BELOW YOU AND THERE IS NOTHING BUT WATER...I'M SURE THIS MAKE ALOT OF FOLKS THINK MORE ABOUT CROSSING BRIDGES...SAD!
Not one mention of the public transport bus that just barely made it past the pier that was slammed into? What about those "lucky survivors"? I'm sure some of them want to have their 5 minutes too.
