Mr Trump lost the 2020 election. He is not the Commander in Chief. The border needs addressing but not to snatch away babies and children. There are still 1,000 children unaccounted for when they were taken from their families. Some of those babies were still nursing. Please sign the bill for resources needed for securing the border. More border agents, more processing agents, more judges to move cases more quickly, more devices and technology to tackle the illegal drugs. These are better solutions to razor wire, or saying they could shoot but won't because that is high crimes and misdemeanors. Republicans could help stop the hysteria of some folks.

Custom and Border Patrol data on in-between border point apprehension numbers by year show otherwise. Lowest numbers were during Obama years that Trump inherited. 2017 it was 304,000. That increased to 397,000 in 2018 and doubled to 852,000 (close to a million) in 2019. Yes, it went down to 401,000 in 2020 due to Covid caused travel restriction. Yes, in 2021 and 2022 it jumped to record 1.7 and 2.2 million but they are by par with the trend of increase during Trump years when you discount the Covid effect in 2020. Due to huge inflation in third world countries (over 1000% in Venezuela in 2022) caused by supply reductions due to 2-years of Covid is the primary reason so many people from those countries are trying to come to developed countries. This trend is not limited to US only. Look at what is happening over the Mediterranean Sea. You are exploiting the fading long-term memory many Americans. Also, when some crisis getting worse for many years the later the worse. No president can solve illegal immigration by executive orders only. Trump couldn’t do that, Biden can’t either. It needs an overhaul of our outdated refugee laws.
