In this video I test the top speed of my Traxxas Slash 4x4 that I have dubbed the “100mph Traxxas Slash Project”. First Testing of New Upgrades, including Alloy Battery Trays - X0-1 Splitter/Bumper Foam - HD Hardened Steel Driveshafts - Tekno Big Bone Center Driveshaft with Drive Cups - Shock Repositioning - Body Mods - Drag Wheelie Bar. Instead of trying to deal with the air after it has entered the body try to focus your efforts on not letting air inside in the first place. Try making an undertray (one of the most neglected areas and also one of the most important) out of cardboard first since it's virtually free then try coroplast (plastic signs you see on the side of the road) That body is a serious wind anchor. All the cutouts will create huge amounts of interference drag. Interference Drag is generated by the mixing of airflow streams between airframe components, such as the wing and the fuselage, or the landing gear strut and the fuselage. As air flows around different aircraft components and mixes, it needs to speed up in order to pass through the restricted area.

You also need a range booster on your controller that way you can go further out and they’re not squeeze the trigger too fast

I don’t have any plan to swap to an aluminum chassis. It might weigh a bit more but it’s not worth the cost

Split the weight on the packs and run 2 3S packs. 😁😁😁 Fantastic build man!!! Try a stronger servo and stiffen the steering up. I changed out the servo and plastic servo saver on my kids 2wd stampede for the Hot Racing aluminum ones and the steering is way tighter!! Smoother road too.

Thanks! I don’t think the Servo is the issue or the horn. Maybe the Servo saver spring. I should probably look into getting a couple 3S lipos though

I was shopping for some replacement parts for my Slash 4x4, and noticed that RPM makes a wheelie bar that's less like a drag car, and stays tucked under the rear end more. Only thing, it wont work with the stock bumper. You have to have the RPM bumper, so there's that cost associated. But, that might be a better option, and I think the wheelie bar is a must have on this car.

Yeah but I need a drag wheelie bar. Those type tuck up way too high. By the time the wheelie bar touches the ground it would be too late. I’m pretty confident the car will flip over itself

It definitely was faster. I think my GPS either is getting a weak signal or I’m not holding that top speed long enough for the GPS to record it

What motor did you run in this one? I've been considering the 1515 2200kv 6s motor as well for my monster but I'll probly just stick with the 1412 3200kv. It seems to work well in your basher.

That's a bummer man. Where you have two trays, I would try running two 3s packs in series so you have better weight distribution, may help with stability. Maybe you should also try that other area you have, it seemed to be straighter and smoother, though more traffic I guess.

Yeah more traffic. Super concerning if I crash and have pieces fly all over the road. I’d have to scramble to get everything before traffic comes. I’ll probably continue to use the 6s packs because that’s the only batteries I have with that plug. I’m not really in the market to buy new batteries right now.

Yea it sure looked like you were going faster than 60.8 mph. That wheelie bar sure didn't last long. I feel like that road is part of the problem. Too bumpy for those speeds.

Got to keep it balanced side to side and front to back and you will be able to reach 100+ and try to just make the air go around the truck instead of trying to get it through the truck

I LOVE the Underdogs...and I KNOW you guys do too. 😎👍 Anybody who truly believes in our buddy Nolan...needs ta slide over to Traxxas and Proline's RU-vid channel...and kindly let them know...that Nolan puts more energy and pure enthusiasm into one of their Flagship vehicles on a DAILY basis then anyone else out right now. The exposure of how many times he even says "Slash" shoulda earned him a body mount kit and shell by now. So I'm posting this same speech on both of those channels. I'll be waitin ta see who else does. And if Kevin or Claire and Ian or V2 wanna help...we'd appreciate it. Co.e on community!

Maybe you have too much weight on one Side so 2 tires do get more grip than the other 2. So if you try to accelerate the car tries to turn to one side Just put bigger screws in to the bulkhead

I'll ask again, have you seen what NASCAR trucks look like in the front end? This is what you need to do... You dont need a wheelie bar. Back to the drawing board. You need the body to STAY ON THE GROUND.

Instead of cutting holes in the body, TRY ADDING SOME LEAD WEIGHTS TO THE FRONT. ALSO......there's a guy who sells 3D PRINTED SLASH FRONT SPLITTERS, REAR SLITTERS, and UNDER/SIDE AERO

I appreciate the recommendation! Unfortunately the front splitter is already on the ground so I don’t want to weigh down the front anymore. I probably need stiffer front shock springs. Also after the experience I’ve had with this 3D Printed Wheelie Bar, I think I’m gonna try to avoid anything that is 3D Printed. One crash and it’ll all be broken

@@RCKnockout I have an INTEGY aluminum 2wd LCG chassis,extended aluminum front and rear control arms, extended steel cv shafts, front and rear aluminum shock towers, and gear box/motor mount along with aluminum TRAXXAS front and rear hub carriers and caster that I haven't installed yet and more to come down the line. Currently running the brushless 3S venillion motor to a 31PINION and 76 SPUR. I don't have a speed tester( plan on getting one) but I'm probably in the 70+mph area on that motor and everything else stock.

You need to be on a more smoother road and one that has no turns and it plus you need to 3S batteries to even out your car and get a body from Delta plastics

You also might want to put some weight in the front like some two sided sticky tape wheel weights

Unfortunately the thing sits too low as it is. I’d need stiffer front springs if I wanted to weigh it down more. I think weight is more critical for the rear tbh

Then put air line tubing in side the front shocks that’s what I did it prevents it from Sagging it works trust me

Those hoons are horrible they're hard they're made for burnouts and drifting. XO1 rims and tires same size hexes are awesome for speed runs

Traxxas claims 60 mph out of box stock - you did all this to try to hit 70 ..?

I haven’t seen anyone get up to the claimed 60+mph that Traxxas claims. Most I’ve gotten is 56mph. This rc is 100mph+ capable as it sits. It’s not easy to get something up to full speed and get it to stop before it goes out of range. Range is the issue not speed

I think this motor is very similar to the X0-1 motor. They’re both made by Castle. They both might be 2200kv as well?

@@dackoson27 more battery cells sometimes adds just weight if everything else is not tuned right.. there's tons of stuff all over the internet about Aero, motors, esc-s batteries etc.. there's lot's off stuff wrong with this build but creator of the videos is on the right path.. People are giving him good advices, he just needs to implement them to his build..
