Watched this yesterday on 4K Blu-Ray... Video: Definitely agree. There is ALOT of grain, so be ready for it. But the detail and HDR is fantastic. Audio: Also agree. This is where it shines. It has a gigantic sound stage and will put your system to work. In my opinion the Atmos audio is reference level.
So I upgraded today & got the LG C9 77 inch & this was the first movie I took for a spin & man I was blown away. Now I see what you have been seeing on yours. This OLED is a game changer 🙌
Awesome review! Although I can’t comment my thoughts on it since when I received mine on October 5th (I pre-ordered in August), I popped in my 4K version and it was just defective as hell. 10minutes in, its ok then the stuttering starts. Audio doesn’t match the picture, I get horizontal glitched boxes appearing on the screen (kinda like when a tiger claws at something and leaves claw marks), it starts skipping but audio stays intact. I was so disappointed cuz I really love this movie as well. Can’t get an exchange and don’t want to give it up cuz it’s a rare steelbook. Long story short, dealt with my local best buy store, couldn’t do nothing, same with virtual agent and nothing but thankfully I went in person and this dude knows me well for collecting stuff and was able to talk to her manager and they hooked me up. I kept the steelbook and turned just the discs in and got a gift card for my purchase total. Now I just ordered the regular 4K+Blu-ray pack with the sleeve and I’ll just transfer those to the steelbook! I’ll be back to update this with my thoughts!! Lol
Hi Adam! I think that I am going to try to pick up the steelbook. I got pumped up just hearing you talk about the picture, and sound quality. Cannot wait to watch this in 4K. I have a 4K digital version of Sucker Punch, I love the picture on that. Have the rest of the Snyder stuff on 4K disc.
The 4k transfer is only average, but the Dolby atmos soundtrack and dialogue saves the day. The 4k Ultra HD has too much grain and contrast, its only slightly better than the Bluray version.
I’m in Canada, we didn’t get the steel book on Best Buy or Zavvi :/ but I got the regular slip cover edition, and I thought the atmos track was fantastic!
I don’t have a room tour yet, but my equipment is listed in the description of my videos. My wife and I are planning to move soon and I’ll have a room tour when the new place is setup.
Just being honest. This 4k sucked. It was not just the grain. The HDR was almost nonexistent. I think the annoying hue/tint snyder uses makes it difficult to improve the coloring. The audio does rock!
The style of the film as I mentioned in the review made the picture quality difficult to judge, but I went back and forth between the Blu-ray and the 4K and the HDR does make the movie look much better.
I agree, the heavy noise, background blur and extremely strong sepia tint was disappointing for me. I'm not keen on the look of the film, I think films like Sin City achieve the stylised comic book look in a much more pleasing way.
300 tells the story of the 300 Spartans who defended their homes against the Persian army. The movie is a phenomenal action packed story that sticks pretty close to the actual events. The movie is done in a style similar to a graphic novel which adds high contrast and beautiful slow motion scenes. Overall, the movie is incredibly entertaining and tells a fascinating story. 4kmovies co
