YESSSSSS. I was one of the writers on this movie, and I'm so happy you reviewed it. I can tell you a little bit about how the sausage was made. Essentially, it was originally written by the director, who has a certain...style. The producers came to me and said they could not let him film what he'd written, because it would basically be a porno. He had written a lot of sex scenes that were incredibly graphic (including one featuring an empty bottle), and the main guy was written to be sexy and sympathetic (although he always came off creepy to me anyway.) There was a whole scene where he was supposed to sing a song he'd written on his guitar and she was supposed to be impressed, and I was like, "Why would a 40 year old woman be impressed by some idiot's crappy song?" I told them I'd do a punch-up of the relationship scenes only if they let me make the guy a clear creep who did not actually practice real BDSM. I tried to show that real BDSM has rules and clear lines of respect. It was meant to be about her ignoring all of the red flags bc she didn't understand what BDSM actually was and so allowed this bad person into her life--basically a critique of 50 Shades. Some of the scenes/dialogue I couldn't touch bc they didn't want to offend the director. Still, it was enough that during the screening, he greeted me by saying, "So this is the bitch who ruined my movie." Lol! In no way am I saying this movie wasn't fast and cheap, bc it definitely was! It's an Asylum movie, the same guys who did Sharknado. It was never going to be Citizen Kane. But in the end I was proud that it at least had some kind of point of view. At the least, I hoped someone would come away understanding that that's not what the lifestyle is actually about. I have been watching your channel for like a year now and was so excited to see a movie I wrote finally pop up. I have plenty more bad b-movies where that came from! And I'd be happy to chat if you ever want to know WHY these bad movies turn out so bad. ETA: Oh! I forgot my friend Mark was in this! He played her original "boring" boyfriend and is actually an excellent actor and all around great guy.
Thank you for sharing this with us, it’s crazy how many processes a movie can go through that can change it immensely, I kinda wish they let you change the whole thing haha
lol i always thought of movies as group projects and always wondered what other people in the production thought, and this is really cool to have some insight!
I do find it interesting how "vanilla" sex has become synonymous with unsatisfactory. I feel like people find it almost embarrassing to say that they have sex that isn't kinky and women are seen as more sexually appealing if they like being choked/slapped etc. Not to say that women can't enjoy these things obviously, but if you think about it in the most extreme way I do think that there's an element of brainwashing involved to make the majority of young women find violent kinks desirable
@@cam4636 I think a lot of porn is inherently quite violent and dehumanises women. You could argue that this is where most young boys are learning about sex and so believe this is attractive and normal. Heteronormative sex is constructed for the male gaze and women are taught to appeal to this standard through social discourse rather than media. But perhaps you're right! It's interesting to think about
@@poppyiles4009 porn =/= kink and vis versa, and while the porn industry is atrocious that doesn't necessarily translate to "teaching young boys about sex"--furthermore we've got plenty of studies into media's effect on people's standards and the majority of standards for violence and misogyny come from the households they're raised in. Same old "video games cause violence" argument there. "Heteronormative sex" isn't constructed unless you've got a lot of set up involved in your bedroom, and while het porn and girl-on-girl porn are overwhelmingly created for the male gaze...that's not what's teaching women. Again, the people who raised you, household and social norms, teach those social norms. Your "brainwashing" argument is dangerously close to radfem talking points that any sort of sex involving men or kink at all is disguised abuse perpetrated on willing victims.
I wanted to watch "after" soo badly out of curiosity but the accent, the face, the "bad boys vibes"😭 i just couldn't..honestly can't belive they did our boy harry dirty like this and seriously thought he could portray fanfic harry
"he's apparently not allowed in the dungeon" Um... 🚩. doesn't that mean he broke the rules? Like, yknow, he might have stolen something, broke safety regulations... Or even SA and/or harassed someone... Tf.
@@RectPropagation yeah! And like, with everything else? The fact that he doesn't respect the girl's boundaries and tries to pressure her into plays? That he tries to establish 24/7 dom/sub relationship without any negotiations whatsoever, with little trust, and not even *thinking* about pausing the play at work? This guy is a literal nightmare horror story dom. Not to mention, an abuser.
The other info as well, about the woman who teaches about spanking and doesn't talk to our creep anymore. PS: I recommend reading the pinned comment. It explains.
This lady with the immaculate bod is Ms. Charisma Carpenter. She was a cheerleader for the 49ers snd then was one of the main stars on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. She's an amazing person as well.
I’m not “fumbling my bag for dick” but Kennie somehow made me feel like I am and for that, I’m deeply ashamed in myself. I’ll do better, thank you for holding me accountable 😭
It's heartbreaking how much Charisma Carpenter suffered at the hands of Joss Whedon and how he basically derailed her career. She deserves to be in much better movies.
Being Black honestly does shade so much of your life. I used to play DND and absolutely trolled my DM by referring to him as Dungeon Massa for months. 💀
Charisma Charpenter did not spend the 90s and early 2000s fighting vampires with Buffy and Angel, fighting in Legend of the Seeker, and doing a cameo in Lucifer and Supernatural to be in this bullshit movie.
Dear, young fellow-kinksters: If you meet someone who is pushy and does not respect your boundaries, enjoys making you miserable in real life, is making you feel guilty about not participating in smth you're uncomfortable with bc you're denying Them "pleasures", and, biggest red flag, is being outlawed from the Kink-Community in any way, shape or form, DON'T GET INVOLVED WITH HIM/HER/THEM. Respectable Doms get off by seeing their partner's pleasure by what they're doing to them, and every encounter, be it casual flings or 24/7 D/S-Relationships, are built on trust and are aimed at making BOTH parties happy. The Sub is the true holder of power, bc he/she/they are the one SETTING THE BOUNDARIES, confirming what the Dom wants to do to them is also smth that THEY like to be done to them.
I have yet to see a "sexy" movie with poor people. It's always some CEO or someone with some random ass corporate position. I wanna see the guys that heats up the fries at McDonald's, or somebody that makes 15/hr (Im Canadian)
Someone really needs to make that movie. It would be BDSM on a budget. No sex room or thousand dollar plane trips instead just lovers with kinks finding one another preferably with a romantic meetcute. The conflict instead of meaningless arguments, I'm looking at you 50 shades, and misunderstandings would be from outside forces learning about their kinks or Gift of the Magi style thinking it would help or save the other person if they left of their own accord.
“Stop accepting less just because that’s what you’re used to” really makes me think of “if you only love yourself 10% and someone loves you 20% you’re going to feel like you’ve won the lottery.” And of course “we accept the love we think we deserve.”
In case you’re curious, the Bound movie from the 90s is a lesbian mafia drama starring Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon and is actually quite good. As a fellow lesbian, imo it’s one of the few lesbian films that doesn’t fetishize or exploit the lesbian experience. I highly recommend. Oh also it was written and directed by the same people who made the matrix (who also happen to be trans women 😌✨).
Not gonna lie, when I saw "BOUND", I got excited thinking this was that. I saw it before, a long time ago, but honestly can't remember how "bad" it could've been to want it on a Bad Movies and a Beat though, 🤣.
90's Bound was EVERYTHING! Interesting plot, great cinematography, impeccable cast, and thrilling stakes. I legitimately felt empowered as a woman after watching that. I will never forgive the universe for failing to make both leading actresses Angelina Jolie level household names. As a strait woman, I really appreciated the A+ lesbian representation. Everyone should watch that Bound at least once.
Slavery didn't start a few hundred years ago...These terms are far more akin to the slavery going on as we speak affecting millions of females, and has been for thousands of years.
I'm not black but that stuff just... doesn't sit right with me lol. I get it's not THAT kind of slavery but even all that baggage aside I cannot when people say master lmfao. I'm sorry but that's impossible for me to take seriously or find sexy
Mollena Williams-Haas, a pretty prominent Black figure in the kink community, told a story on the Why Are People Into That? pod about telling an event that a "slave auction" was not a good look, and then when they ignored her, rolling up dressed as an Enslaved woman and begging the organizers not to sell her people down the river. You really have to rub some people's faces in it. She has lots of other interesting thoughts about subbing as a Black woman.
The way that Kendall goes on tangents when a perceived bag is being fumbled. The Capricorn energy is strong! I love Capricorn women, they’re so bothered by shit like this.
We really are, You think I'm gonna mess with my bag over some dick. Nah ain't no dick that good, that would make me go that stupid. Also Capricorn ♑ gang
Guess it's Scorpio energy too because, honey...no. I don't even mean it in a capitalistic way but in a security way: The bag comes FIRST, and don't waste a dime of it on a dusty.
@@bruna2588 Women in Refrigerators. Common trope; create a side character who is important to the main character, then harm them so the main character can get revenge. Usually it's a female character who gets harmed for the sake of a male main character, but a female character getting harmed for a female main character is still harming a female character for someone else's story.
You should consider revisiting Lifetime yandere movies, there are so many to choose from. Everything with "cheerleader" in the title is particularly bad.
There’s this one movie where the chick from Cory in the house is like 30 and decides she wants to be a cheerleader in high school and just like fakes her way in. It’s so weird.
@@tunafish5462 I meeeeeeannn, I've never actually read the Quran so it may as well be relevant for all I know. just in case: I'm not serious. Although I have not actually read Quran, I have an idea of the contents
Okay but at 13:18 that spoke to my soul. I’ve been in a relationship for 3 years now, in which I’ve accepted less because that’s what I’m used to. That gave me the courage to end the relationship and move on with my life. Thank you Kennie, I needed to hear that.
I directly blame fifty shades for these kind of films being made, I'm attacking the entire franchise lol. the men are always meant to come across as sexy, mysterious and they just end up looking like stalkers, possessive, a literal walking red flag if I've ever seen one
@@LadyAstarionAncunin Imagine writing such an impactful book that you completely change the romance genre of movies and paranormal YA novels. Power like that needs to be contained. 😔
With all the antagonism he seems to hold toward her job and her father, I honestly thought he was gonna turn out to be her illegitimate half-brother who got disinherited or something
Okay, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one. I honestly assumed either 1) secret half-brother who resented the father for abandoning him or 2) the son of an ex-business partner who the father got arrested for embezzlement.
That “I don’t smoke…yeah ya do.” line got me nearly in a panic attack because at the foundation of that line is being f0rce to ingest a psychoactive add!ctve substance into your body. It reminds me of “strawberry girls” or a type of “coerced s3x-sl@very” through induced chemical use disorder to keep a person near by. When we zoom out and see the wider implications and impacts, no other line from any previous BMiaB is as bone chilling. IMO even Christian Grey never did something so disturbing.
Director: This is a sexy romance! Writer: This is a terrifying thriller! The funny thing was this was the reverse of the 50 Shades film where the director pissed off EL James by trying to both tone down and acknowledge the abuse and thus got kicked out of the sequels and replaced by James' husband.
The fact that I KNOW the "I don't smoke" "yeah, you do" line (as cringy as it is) would work just fine with the right delivery from an actor that actually has charisma/sex appeal is so funny to me
You know, one thing I do genuinely like about this take on the bad/wrong pseudo BDSM movies is that the protagonist is actually a full grown, experienced woman. So many of these movies have the virginal ingenue being introduced to everything at once by the worst person possible for the job, but here we have an actress that appears to be in her 40s(?) with a daughter. That's something in the right direction. Granted, I'm 9 minutes in and maybe the disturbing content will outweigh that, but it's nice to see.
I kind of agree. On the other hand, I get why it's usually the young, what-even-IS-an-orgasm type, because it's easier to understand why they would fall for this shit lol.
I’m so grateful to have gained enough self esteem and life experience (and BDSM experience) that I now have boundaries and they are non-negotiable. If someone tried that “yes you do” bs with me, I’d just say “no, no I don’t” and walk off.
Well. She took the job. Besides, beggars can't be choosers and she probably has piling bills. No big productiion has been checking for her, so she took what came along.
Jennifer Tilly fits that role so amazingly, I can't think of anything I haven't liked her in. The chucky series is pretty funny too if you guys haven't seen it
😂😂, technically wouldn't it be because of Romeo and Juliet? Thought I heard that was her inspiration. And also the rock band/musician inspiration conspiracy....there's a lot to blame lol
Real quick, I audibly *gasped* when we threw it to ad roll Kennie and she looked somehow even more stunningly gorgeous than usual! Like???? HOW????? Excuse me ma’am but I think this level of beauty is against the all-knowing benevolent algorithm (jk, obviously 😅) ☺️😍
Out of curiosity, I looked up the movie on peacock, then looked up the actor who played Ryan (Bryce Draper) and saw he actually passed away last October. Rest up king 😔🙏 thank you for giving us this very weird movie and consequently, this video
Me: casually listening to this while drinking water and mopping my kitchen: Kennie: MY HONKER RONKER DOINKY BOINKIES- Me: Proceeds to IMMEDIATELY SPRAY WATER ALL ON MY FLOOR FROM LAUGHING. You never fail to make me smile/laugh with these videos. Thank you Kennie 😊
Love how she is still continuing with this shizz after the traumatic experience her kid went through. Like hehe, my life is great now let's just ignore the trauma my kid is going through because I dated a psycho.
You know, these kind of movies makes me wonder how many potential thriller movies I (luckily) prevented by throwing all those creepy ass men's numbers away 💀
somewhat related but also unrelated, the bound from the 90s is a lesbian thriller movie I highly recommend!! It’s one of my favourite lesbian movies of all time
I haven't seen it, but Amanda the jedi covered a movie recently that i can just tell kennie would have a good time with Here. 😂 Netflix: Brazen. Maybe we'll see a vid on that some day too 🖤
Charisma, sweetie, no 😭. I saw the thumbnail and was like “that can’t possibly be her” and it is. Get UP, girl, Cordelia Chase would never fumble that bag
So we are just supposed to be like “good for her for discovering her inner strength” when her own bad judgement led to her daughter being SAd and traumatized?!
I don't find ANY of these Dom dudes they pick even remotely attractive physically (ok maybe Massimo was kinda hot when he wasn't talking). Is this what white women are attracted to? I'm not judging, I'm just trynna understand lol.
I can’t speak for all white women, but personally, no. Not into any of them either, especially once they open their mouths. It always either comes off creepy, or in some cases it has a distinct vibe of a weak man pretending to be dominant, and is very off putting.
Wait WTF is that Charisma Carpenter?!?!?! Look, I'm not gonna lie... I don't care how bad the movie is, I kinda wanna watch it now just to see _Buffy's_ Cordelia Chase still having a body that won't stop at 45 years old 😆🤩
@@fabiennehoogewoud1180 From what I have heard Joss derailed her career by labeling her as “difficult.” Powerful men in Hollywood have put the kibosh on many a woman’s career by having her characterized as someone who is difficult to work with.
idea for a bad movie: a 90s cult classic, "Joe's Apartment". I don't know if you you find it anywhere, but the basic gist is this guy's apartment is riddled with sentient cockroaches that he befriends. it's good, but I also haven't seen it in a while
I’m thrilled with another Bad Movies and a Beat but Charisma 🤭 WHY did she sign up for this?! The underwear 😩 and fumbling the BAG for clearly generic man parts 😡 wtf
I mean, the fact that it's not a romance and that the lead character does end up in control may have been enough to make it sound like it could be a good movie.
Charisma Carpenter survived a serial killer in real life, I loved that she was hosting surviving evil. It's crazy seeing her go from that to crappy movies.
Why do all these men in these movies act closer to the creep scenarios in the first-person POV sexual harassment training videos I had to watch for work 😵💫 Same visceral rxn
Watching Kennie's Bad Movies on Saturdays is a weekly tradition to me. I go to a coffee shop, order a pot of tea, and just listen to you roast bad movies. It's honestly the best. (Also I saw Tall Girl 2 was on NETFLIX and I was like WHY DID THIS GET A SEQUEL and I'm so excited for you to review it.)
Right. Please just depict and actual, normal Dom. We're not like this. It's cringe and makes me wonder if people who write this kind of mess have actually sat down and spoken extensively with Doms so that they know what to accurately portray in films.
i don't know if i'm the only one but i'll speak from my experience kendall i'm sending you so much love, prayer and positive energy ,and that's the least i can do to repay you for saving my live ever since starting the series at my worst moments you made me laugh and taught me so many great lessons and you may or may not blossomed my love for bad movies lol. thanks babe
The movie Bound from the 90s is by the Wachowski siblings and it's a fabulous lesbian mafia romance definitely worth reviewing! Good movie and a beat for sure.
