Beautiful Film, Beautiful Music!! If you haven't watched this...it's an absolute must!! One of the most romantic films I've ever watched! The scene were she can't decide to get out of the car to go to Robert or stay with her husband...😪😪😪
@@brodi0351lol...yeah she commited adultry and I feel so bad for her nice husband😢But she made the right choice not to leave her family even though she wasnt too happy.
I love this movie, now I'll have to watch again tomorrow! My husband took me there to see it in 2010 and he wrote on the wall of the bridge a love note to me! I just cried cause it was so special a movie and he is the love of my life! Music is wonderful, I cry everytime I hear it!
These images provoke a deep recollection in me, this film became a personal experience for many people around the world. I can't help but feel the anguish of thinking that in reality, a love story can happen this way, the nature of this film is a supernatural expression of what one human being can feel for another. I lived in Winterset in 1982-1984. Loved the town and it's people. Moved to Clive, Ia. after commuting to Des Moines daily to job. Had friends in town that had farmer friends with good fishing ponds. Miss that too.
The musical score is every bit as important to the success of this film as the story itself. In fact I believe it is the music in the film that allows your heart to be deeply entrenched and invested in what the story represents.
I have never heard of this movie until I by accident saw it in the Walmart 5$ bin. It puts me back in time, into the good old USA and I have watched it maybe a dozen of times by now. Makes me cry, because I understand Francesca so much.
Like the book on which the film was based, written by he late Robert James Waller, and the film itself, this video is a tearjerker. Thank you for sharing and introducing a fantastic piece of supporting music that is perfect. Fans might like to know there was a book sequel to this named A Thousand Country Roads. Paper handkerchiefs a prerequisite.
[Spoiler Alert] I saw and liked this movie in 1995, at the movie theater. I had a strange synchronicity with it. Shortly before seeing it, I went through almost the same events with my mother's passing. It was even also throwing out the ashes next to a bridge, even with the bridge looking similar. It was my mother's happiest time at the cottage, in childhood, with fishing. (The bridge was the old Mackay Bridge at Sundays River, by Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I was staying in Johannesburg at the time.) When the movie came out, I thought that I must go see it. I had such a lump in my throat afterward. At the end of the movie, when it was said 'Go well my children', it seemed like it was my mother saying that, to me and my brother, only sibling. I then got the DVD, in memory of my mother.
I will cross all the occasions in between here and there to see these locations because the not only movie made me cry when I first watched it but every time I listen to the theme and it wets my eyes. So, it is deepest desire to go and see these locations where once pure love existed.
Such a lovely location for this fabulous movie ~ so touching, with fantastic music. A must-see film with fabulous actors. Enjoy the theme music that makes it so deep and loving.
Went there in 2014 - A sort of a cleansing of the soul . Beautiful town Winterset with wonderful people . Will always remember this trip and most importantly the friend that was not with me
I recently visited Winterset and these locations. I love the way you have put this video together. Truly wonderful.I have posted one also of my walk through the Roseman Bridge. It is an experience I will never forget. Thank you again.
Well done! Great work! Obviously a labour of love for you. In fact you've done everyone who likes this movie a favour by posting these beautiful photos on here.
A movie with photos of something that someone took photos of in a movie. Beautiful. I especially appreciate the emptiness and the grey weather. Much appreciated. Thank you.
If you watched this beautiful movie. We don't have to be told any of these fabulous locations. We already know. And thank you for playing that beautiful sound track of the movie (Doe Eyes). One of the best movies ever made.
Been there with my wife. Landed in Chicago, Greyound coach to Iowa City then driving to Kalona stayed there and finally to Winterset in a B&B (prev. a church). Saw the covered bridges driven around in a white Cadillac by a chap who’d been an extra in the film. A lovely trip from the French Riviera. 😎
Also it was Lust Lust Lust and she committed adultry😂😂i felt so bad for her nice husband but also can understand her love to Robert which she never felt before in her life. She got married to her husband mainly to get away from Italy.
Thank you for sharing this video,i was working in hongkong when this film released, wasn't able to watch this movie so i did buy the book and covered it,how i loved francesca and robert, thank you very much robert james waller (rip) i'm 59 yrs old from philippines
Yes, I was there this past June. All of those images were ones I took while there. I mapped out the locations I wanted to see and spent the day finding and visiting them.
Nice video, my wife and I went there by chance , found all but 2 of those places and more, they must have 16 bridges around there, and John Wayne's birth place, We didn't find the house, or the park where the kids where, we had a great day discovering places, your right it makes the movie so real by seeing all these places.
Beautiful video of a beautiful state! My roots go back to Montgomery County, not that far from Madison Co. Thanks for posting the filming scenes from one of my favorite movies of all time.
This is a great memory went through all of the places and bridges it was a dream.. loved the movie so much..the town a lot of people remembered the filming..❤️
I will never, ever forget this film, the theme music is just beautiful also. It has a very special place in my heart. It is possible to meet your soulmate in this lifetime.... 🤔
Right. People would look at it as if you're not supposed to do things behind your husband's back, but. Sometimes life isn't quite so black and white. It was A moment in time that she just kept with her. I like the ending where she said. I gave my life to my husband And I give my death to Robert.
I’m pretty sure lots and lots of vehicles would of driven threw the bridges, damaging them. I’m glad they’re closed. When I’m in the mood of crying I watch this movie.
I'm glad you liked it. I really liked the bridges they used and the natural locations shown back when I first saw the movie. I told myself if I was ever in that area someday that I would track them down. It was a lot of fun mapping out all the locations they used and searching for them. I never expected to find so many beautiful areas in a little town and rural part of Iowa.
BGSU33 Woow! Amazing! I would love to do that one day! and this rural place, i don't know, but there's something special about it! I'm always looking for this in the movies I see. =)
Thank you for posting this lovely video it's amazing how things change the scenery at the bridges the road doesent look to be there any more at roseman bridge Francesca's house so overgrown what a shame maby someday they will restore it back to its glory
awesome movie ! my wife and I made the trip from Brownsburg In and were both so impressed with the Roseman bridge, the Cafe and really just about everything... would love to revisit soon .. BTW, the music positively sets the tone for the entire movie, which is Our favorite of all time! thanks for the beautiful tour and the memories ... so reminiscent of our time there!!!
I drove to Winterset to see the Roseman bridge. The place was quite and peaceful, very touching and beautiful. I walked then drove those dirt road up and down thinking about the love I left behind that came only once in my lifetime. Sad but I will remember her even in grave
I have visited Winterset in the past, and visited the sites here, including Francesca's house. With the exception of the spot in the park with the stone bridge. I will need to find that someday. Today, I drove past Winterset, but did not have time to see the spots again. I will need to plan a return trip. It is a shame Francesca's house has fallen into disrepair.
+Jim Brown Don't know if in the 2 years since you posted this comment you've found it, but wanted to give some info. My wife and I went down there this last summer cuz it's only about an hour's drive from where we live. Beautiful place. Couldn't find her house, but the park is in the middle of Winterset. Though they've removed the stone bridge as in the movie and replaced it with another covered bridge.
I would love to visit. Do they mow the grass around the bridge or do they leave it like that ? How do they keep people from posting notes on the bridge ?
