This pyramid (ascending then descending) rep scheme can help with the mental game: just get through the round of 30’s, then each round is shorter than the last. Break early and often. Don’t go to failure. Keep rests short and get back to work as quickly as possible.

“My approach today was slow and unbroken, which I was able to hold throughout the effort.
Deadlifts take it out of me, even at this light weight. I started each deadlift with my eyes closed so I could focus more on feel and form and be internal with the movement. For some reason, I find that really helps reduce the suck, too.
I do love box jump overs, but they seriously spike my heart rate!”

Hi Lisa…quick question: I’ve seen your previous videos on “Big Red”, Is that a 14lb. Slam ball you were using for the wall balls ? Thanks to you & Jeremy for the inspiration!

Good eye! Yep, for years we didn’t have Med Balls so we used D-Balls (aka Slam Balls) for Wall Ball Shots. The ladies D-Ball was actually 15 lb. We JUST bought Med Balls this week :) the ladies Med Ball is 14 lb - which is standard Rx for Wall Balls.

Hi Lisa: The deadlift technique is new to me. I started just over a month ago. Your starting back position seems to be a horizontal to the ground. I typically have my back more inclined (like a forward slash) if you get what I mean. Are there variations of the technique.
