We do benchmark WODs. They’re the workouts you test and re-test, the workouts you do to memorialize heroes and celebrate events. Benchmark WODs are the WODs you give names to, so they become part of the common language of CrossFitters around the world.
Our mission is to curate, and organize benchmark WODs and create videos that help improve your performance on those workouts - and increase your fitness.
We film athletes doing benchmark WODs and talk to them about their strategies or thoughts about the workouts. Most of the athletes in our videos aren't professionals. They're not promising to demonstrate perfect form or flawless strategy. They're just giving a workout a go and telling you what they thought about it, so you can hear it from their point of view.
You don't need to start with Burpees. In the original video he did not start with burpees. It was explained as "You need to do 100 Clean Hang thrusters and then every minute that PASSES, do 5 burpees" the key word is, a minute passed since starting. You can also clearly see Jason starting with the Hangs, but then Chris writes start with Burpees. So it's kinda bad, because 12 years ago it was not written up on fancy websites, we just had that video to go by. People are doing two different versions of this Wod.
That was a highly commendable effort Lisa. Have to say that among the many 24.1 offerings I have seen on RU-vid - including among the pros-there was absolutely no doubt about any of your dumb bell snatches. Both heads touched the ground and there was a solid lock out. 🎉
John is a beast obviously Being 9 ft. Tall and all, but Steve on the 225lb fight was gnarly grind and the 495 deadlift was awesome. He might have been able to even get 500+
They aren't doing STRICT pull-ups during a WOD, that would be silly. If you did , you wouldn't gotten through it fast. WODs is all about speed. Butterfly pull-ups is the most efficient pullups you can do in CrossFit. That stuff ain't easier either. If the workout needed strict pullups that would be specified in the WOD, which is not, you just need to get up there.
Jeremy it's me again! Iam SO loving these pristine moments of Crossfit posterity. Just had an idea that you probably will think is daft/impossible but how about linking up with some of the guys in these vids for a reunion - new times , same workout?
@@wodwell great to hear. Could be great way to introduce your new @wodwell product offer, eh? Life and circumstances change and maybe these guys and gals have had kids, changed jobs or locations to now where heading to the box for a sweat ain't that easy anymore..
suffering, striving , thriving, its what you love to hate in a WOD and what you brings you right back to the box to do it all over again. God bless pain and sufferfing and the cosmic suck of it all!
Jeremy, I've been gorging your content like a glutton with bad relationship with food. Your content along with being the equivalent of having a ringside seat in a testing facility are also a rich depository of a culture and moment in time. Man, I love you and your opus!! How is WODwell doing these, still thriving I hope? How, if at all have you adapted over time? You know I'm looking into writing a book on crossfit and it would be great to compare notes sometime soon.
So cool thanks for the shout out. I agree, these old videos are like time capsules! Yes WODwell is still alive and well…even though we don’t put as many videos out as we used to. We have shifted focus to our own platform wodwell.com And yes, happy to compare notes sometime! If you’re interested in knowing more about our origins and what we’re working on now, we made this 4-video series to explain: ru-vid.com/group/PL-OyGWMwiHD9C683v4FCEqF2K12ka6azQ&si=WBtkB_tiu_m5KsV6
