England should have won 2 world cups with that generation and never saw and European finals. Same thing this last World Cup. It was in the bag and they never saw a final. Sentiments and media blindly backing a coach learning on the job and not using his best formations and players so long as he wins it’s fine until he runs into a brick wall. It’s a shame and waste of talents and England was a great disappointment for the global premier league fans who were desperate to see England lift the World Cup with their favourite super stars.
First ever Utd Game I watched was Blackburn away as a kid, I saw him in the middle of the field and I instantly became a believer, watching him live in person made you realise how he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.
Paul Scholes is your favourite player's favourite player. Even Pelé once said he wished he was playing when Paul Scholes was playing. Immensely talented player and such a no nonsense guy. Turns up, does his job, goes home. End of. Class act!
@@raycroal really?? You disagree? I think all those world class players past and present would disagree with you. Let me guess, just another know nothing blinded by his hatred for Utd?? You people are all the same
@@agentsmith6492 Beckham was a better passer than him , better set piece taker .Paul Scholes is mega talented no doubt as he was a forward with no pace turned center midfield his ball delivery be and vision is top tier , but off the ball he offered nothing . Carrick had great vision and delivery too , why doesn't he get these shouts too ?
@@joshuakithyoma9575 off the ball he offered nothing? Getting into space was one of his Forte's. He was renowned for filling in spaces that needed to be. His passing was exemplary and he dictated the pace of the game. He released a ball and instinctively knew exactly where it was going to be delivered next and would be there. Did you even watch him at all?
@joshuakithyoma9575 because Carrick as good as he was wasn't as good as Paul Scholes. Scholes is one of the greatest to ever live. He's underappreciated by rival fans.
I’ve never seen a midfielder with a silky touch and turn like him. He could stop n turn on a 6 pence and then ping a world class pass out of no where. A freak of nature!
Best midfielder I've ever seen live. And ive seen a lot, granted im biased but honestly watching him shift the tempo of the game with one twos up the pitch when hes being closed down and then bombing howitzers out to the wings if they give him room. Always in space, always 3 moves ahead. Unbelievable technique and awreness. Find out later he wasn't sleeping and dealing with his sons disability. Never moaned, hardly ever did interviews, no agent, never wanted to leave United. Can understand others having their own opinions. But for me he embodies what I love about football.
It's not just on the pitch but how he conducts himself off it that is also part of his greatness. One of the few to whom the word great and world class apply in truest sense of the words. When Zidane and Henry call you untouchable not much else needs to be said.
Gazza best English player since Bobby Charleton. Its well known Hordle liked to be the best player on the training pitch, even when he was England manager and he always was with England - apart from when Gazza was there- that's why Hordle didn't like him.
Can’t believe I overlooked gazza I managed see him play during the end of his career when he was at Everton they played stoke n most of us stoke booed him and my old man was shouting at everyone because he’s a huge fan of his 😂
I was there for that goal against Blackbury, my first trip over to Old Trafford from Dublin. What a game that was, 3-1 if i remember correctly. Great experience. Brought my son over for a tour of the stadium in August from Canada. We were supposed to be attending the Liverpool game but they moved the fixture. Ah well, we'll get over again some time.
England wasted him on the wings, ignored Carrick to pander to Lampard and Gerrard. Nothing’s changed, kept Rashford on the bench after he scored a hattrick…they never learn.
He was my and still is my idol scholes is. Cant believe they disrespected him and tried get him left mid. He was greater than both gerrard and lampard by a mile. Even tho stevie g was a great player himself
Forget Slippy G & Lampard…the ginger ninja is by far the best English midfielder of that era & only 2nd to captain marvel (Bryan Robson) as the best English midfielder of all time right now & as for the red mist…has anyone EVER!!! Meet a ginger without it?? Fuck NO!!! You ain’t!!! There’s so much fire in their heart that it comes through in their hair 😂
@@qwerty12476 no he isn't! Fake quotes and fabricated stories with literally zero sources doesn't make fairy tales to become truth! Thats not how the world worlds!
Keane and scholes as a midfield partnership,,it's no wonder we dominated football for years,,and now casemiro and Fred along with Bruno are starting to make a believer out of me again
His positioning was unbelievable. How often did he get himself in space at the edge of the box? My favourite goal was the shot from a Becks corner against Bradford
Paul is a Legend and a Royal person to England and gis Club Man U even Sir alex once said no any Club really approached him to sell him coz they knew he was going nowhere.
Gerrard tackle succes rate is 73% Paul Scholes tackle succes rate is 70% Are we going to say Gerrard cant tackle either because there's only a 3% difference? 🤔.
Quite surreal to sit next to Glenn Hoddle and have him say that about you. Paul is my favourite player ever, and even then it’s crazy to have a man like Hoddle say that he was his best ever player.
People don't remember but he was at least as dirty as Keane. Difference was Scholes bad tackles were always excused as "poorly timed". He knew exactly what he was doing.
Shocking mismanagement of that England side, to not utilise a player like that. As good as this generation is, we still haven't seen a player like Scholes
Not a Man U man but think he was better than Beckham who had all the hype but Scholes was the English equivalent of Inesta, Xavi, Pirlo think he he had more to offer England. Class player, intelligence skill, 🧠 ⚽️🇵🇪🏴
If it wasn’t for all that weird shit, imagine what Hoddle could have done transitioning his ‘98 team with the next-gen players in something like a 3-4-1-2
And played him left wing! Shame we never played with a 4-3-3. Lampard, Gerard, Scholes, Beckham, Parker, Jennas. Any combination of them in a 3 would have been world beaters.
Two. Magnificent players who other countries would of built their national side’s around .. Gerald v lampard needed deciding and sticking with(and I believe hoddle would of done if not for the papers) .. if your car comes with a spare wheel and it’s a lovely full size alloy wheel as the four it comes with… you don’t try and bolt it on to accommodate it…. You keep it as a perfect substitution….. that debate/argument over them both probably was the deciding factor of that generation not winning anything…. You look at the players we had
@@Dugiesrevenge so what's your point? Hoddle had nothing to do with any of that debate? Nobody ever provides any viable alternative to the Gerrard Vs Lampard problem either.
@@Dugiesrevenge "he would've sorted it" is not much of a point? How would he have sorted it? That group of players wasn't going to win anything with any manager, they were not that good.
Glenn was an absolute Clown as a coach if Scholes was Spanish or Italian or if he was Brazilian or Argentinian the national team that he played in would have been built around him and he would have won numerous trophies is Legend would also be twice as large as it is right now.
@Hayder Al-Mohammad Gazza had one good world cup. He was good for a top half Spurs side. Then he flopped in Italy. Then he slowly faded away after joining Rangers. A decent player but he wasn't world class
Did Scholes ever play a game where he didn't try an injure an opponent? Every game there was that moment where he went for someones knee, but being a Man U. player he always got away with it. Maybe his managers should have done a better job and prevented him from behaving like that.
It makes me laugh when people compare him to Gerrard and Lampard, he was on a different level. Beckham was even better then gerrard and lampard especially Lampard
Zidane was sent off a ton of times in his career, mainly for trying to head butt, punch and stamp on players, no one talks about that.. Scholes was something else, 11 league titles, ran shit, Zidane won 3 league titles ffs.. No one is close
Funny enough none of them said anything about Paul Scholes, they only said it in the dreams of famous UK propagandists like Daily Mail... you literally can't find anything linked to those ridiculous quotes lol
Gerrard is definitely better ! People started to take note of Scholes when other pros did and that’s facts and now use this as a measuring stick to judge him… “Zidane even said” if Scholes is so good can people not back him without back up no, obviously not ! 💩💩
@@leebonnick7052 I think Gerrard was better too. Gerrard had more goals and assists that Scholes, playing less games than Scholes, in a far poorer team than Scholes
