Only people never to play the game at a professional level underrate Scholes. He was the favourite player of every great player from that era. Properly world class no fuss no flashy shite just pure football.
I can't get my head around those that put Gerrard and Lampard above Scholes as a centre midfielder. All three are very different to each other but Scholes was the one that controlled games and set the tempo. That's not to say that Gerrard and Lampard were anything less than top notch though.
@bestfc100 The Aston Villa and the Bradford goals are my favourites, the perfection of the volleys pffft. I'm glad I met Scholesy, so humble 💯👍🏾 #mufctillidie
I’m a Liverpool fan but this guy was a footballers footballer . My favourite player of all time and in my mind the greatest ever midfielder Britain has ever produced .
Bruno needs to learn from Scholes. He always blasts the ball into the heavens whereas whenever you saw Scholsey running onto the ball you were expecting a rocket into the back of the net. I miss those days! ❤
Once in an interview after the Ballon d'Or awards in early 2000s Zinedine Zidane was asked what it felt like to be the greatest midfielder in the world. He replied, 'I dont know, ask Paul Scholes.'
Scholes is one of those players that his shots look like he's just booting it at full pelt. But in fact he has a rare talent in that he can deliver a lot of power to a very accurately placed shot. What a lethal shooter. You can't stop a ball moving that fast, and in that amount of time he gives you to react.
Define world cup class if a person with 150+ Manchester united goals, 2 UCL, 11 premiers 5 FA cups, and he was a starter even Ferguson called him from retirement to win another premier league, explain how he isn't world class@@user-jl1ry7qp1y
One of my favourite players growing up. Never understood why there wasn't a bigger fuss made about just how ridiculously good he was. Pure footballer. No fuss, no scandals, no bullshit. A proper footballer's footballer.
29/4/08 I was there for that beauty of a goal. Semi Final 2nd leg against Barcelona. I was so lucky to get that ticket 🎟 last minute. It is 1 of 2 games I was blessed to have watched at Old Trafford. I am 38 years old now and wish so much that I could go to Old Trafford again to watch them a 3rd time in my lifetime, but it is almost Impossible to get tickets 🎟 these days. Fantastic memories that nobody can ever take away from me. Paul Scholes was an absolute genius on the pitch and nobody could hit the ball sweeter than him at that time and regularly in big games. 👏🏻 ⚽️ I love Manchester United ♥️
@bestfc100 Sorry, but is this a trick question? 🤔 Getting tickets 🎟 to watch United at Old Trafford these days is difficult they are like gold dust. Maybe it is easy for yourself and if so I'm pleased for you lol
@bestfc100 I wouldn't claim to know the answer to your question. The Premier League games(nowadays)are not for the average working man anymore but more for the elite. I live next to Leicester City stadium 🏟 and I can't even get tickets to see them because of waiting lists, etc. The only chance I would have to watch them would be a cup game in midweek against low opposition, and that is if I were lucky. I hope life in Kenya 🇰🇪 is going well for you 👍🏻
@brendandarkside1207 Are you sure you're not getting Pele's praise of NickyButt during WorldCup 2002 mixed up with Scholes? I'm sure he also said positive things about Scholes too because of his obvious talant but publicly I know Pele praised Butt I can't say I recall a specific time Pele praised Scholes but Pele wasn't an idiot and would've no doubt known how good Scholes was. Butt did a good job and I wasn't surprised by his WC2002 performances but I do also think Pele chose to pick him out because many other players are more obvious choices & expected more to perform.
The greatest midfielder to ever grace the grass. Forget Stevie G. Paul Scholes was head and shoulders above him. If Kobbie Mainoo turns out to be anywhere near as good, we'll have a new legend on our hands 👍
I'm making a statement. There is no competition. I'm not a Liverpool supporter. Been a Utd fan since I was eight and I'm now 62. I do however appreciate good football and Liverpool certainly provide a good amount of that (along with a smattering of diving from Jota) 👍
@@daviddeida Thanks for your input. I can see you're very knowledgeable on the subject, seeing as you've failed to explain exactly what is "bollocks" Am I to assume you're agreeing with me or are you a Liverpool/Man City fan...?
This is like watching a tour player shaping mid irons into a green and knocking them stiff. we've been blessed to have had talents like, Hoddle, Cunningham, Le Tissier, Waddle, Gascoigne, and Scholes but have never built teams around them. It's no coincidence that we've not won a major tournament since 66. Paul Scholes was generational talent who was criminally misused for his country.
Successive england managers disrespected this guy who was winning premier leagues consistently. You build teams around him. Not stick him out on the wing to please chelsea supporters!
That is the best striker of a ball of all time A Norwich fan I am, but I always loved watching United over the years when I was younger and growing up under sir Alex Ferguson in the league, champions League What a player there's nobody who can strike a ball and score goals consistently week in and out
Can somebody please show this video to the current Man Utd team to show them how the game should be played. No big time charlie's in this side , just hard working , skillful and amazing footballers who simply loved playing the game. They entertained us and never ever gave up. Different times for Man Utd fans.
the volley against Aston Villa at around 6:22 is one of my all-time fav goals. To hit a ball that far out on the volley, with such power, precision and technique is crazy amazing. A timeless goal that every decade passing will never age
My favourite player after Robson, Scholes. But I have to disagree, we have Bellingham and Foden. Unfortunately Scholes will always underestimated because he didn't have BS like Beckham and Ronaldo. As great as they are, they could not dictate a game like Scholes, Iniesta, Pirlo or Zidane
How many teammates served up balls to Scholes on purpose, just to watch the kid nail the sht out of them??? Foden is as likeable today, as Scholes was for the great career. It's part of what makes the EPL amazing.
I wish i could see PS, Gerrard and Lampard play togerther in their prime UNDER few different world-class Managers. That would rise up a lot of attentions around the world.
I remember seeing him hit an absolute diamond pearler on the edge of the box against Norwich and hit a Norwich player in the ribs (Grant Handley?), I can only imagine the pain, he was down for a fair while as well
Somehow Utd occasionally managed to get away with playing with three of the worst tackling midfielders ever at the same time ... Seba Veron, Becks and Scholesy ... useless in the challenge, all of 'em 😂
