Yes unfortunately a lot of pure Aerospace jobs are funded by the US government. However, as mentioned in the video, an aerospace engineering degree is more versatile than you may think. Also, we had hired international graduates for our drone startup, and we ran into no issues because we were an Aerospace company that was completely independent of the US government
I will admit that there’s a lot of security-related restrictions with Aerospace companies and labs because a lot are funded by the US government. But there are definitely companies and labs that are not defense-focused that could utilize an aerospace engineering degree
