Dubai received an unusual amount of rainfall this week. The rain broke records for the last 75 years in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is one of the hottest and driest regions of the world. Heavy rains are unusual in the UAE. Then, the question arises what caused torrential rains & flash floods? Many reports attributed the floods to cloud seeding, a process that refers to implanting chemicals into clouds to increase rainfall. After receiving like 260 mm of rainfall in just a day, everything is routinely back to normal the next day! Everyone are in their offices, the roads, malls & metros are operational in just a day’s time!! They cleared everything overnight!! Plus they already have a system….how often do you get a year’s worth of rain in 24 hours! The quantity of water in just a short period is overwhelming for the sewage system they already have in place! The reason for the floods according to New York Times is : extreme low pressure was created in the Arabian Gulf, which lead to torrential floods in the UAE and other GCC countries as well!! Cloud seeding has nothing to do with the low pressure being created in the oceans surrounding the Arabian Gulf, according to NY times!

Seeding alright, but greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. It's not rocket surgery, and you've seen but the teeniest, tiniest, tip of the iceberg. Hell, eventually 'we' (meaning subsequent generations) will see icebergs in places they haven't been seen in 10,000 years, as just one totally absurd sounding, at this point, to most people anyway, example. It's not fixable folks, the damage is done. You could end CO2 and other greenhouse gas production 100% today, and still things even leading edge scientists of today have not envisioned will occur. All we can do now is limit it, and we won't even do that. And I am guilty, just like 99.99% of the planet. I don't walk and bike everywhere that I could as an alternative to driving (at least I could have at one time). But most of it, and BY FAR the worst of it, won't happen to people alive today, so who cares, right?

The record is 254 mm recorded in 1949, although UAE originated in 1971, but still the historical record for the region. Along with the myriad infrastructure, ineffective engineering, & other encroachment issues involving Dubai as other excessive overpopulated metropolitan areas must regard that elevate risk, impose hazards, & enhance flooding, ... beside the geoengineering actvities.

It was a real storm as in hawaii or Europe … when they cloud seed you can feel it I believe by now. before it’s heavier to breathe - then it ,rains’ it’s a very muggy air and also after it never feels really clear but just wet and heavy to breathe again. Which is sad. But this air NOW was so purified in between when the clouds disappeared. Thunder and lightning came back between four and six times. But the air was refreshing like in a real storm lots of movement in the air. Same as in Europe. You could feel the difference. Also The air was much much more cool. Cloud seeding just brings rain down.

Come on first post. For every degree increase in atmospheric temperature 7% more water is held in the atmosphere. Thats trillions of gallons of additional water. Afghanistan Pakistan Pittsburgh in US and many other areas are experiencing rainfall above mormal levels.

I find it interesting that people are alleging cloud seeding when many cities around the world have been using cloud seeding/weather modification for many years. Some of you are buying crops from farmland that has benefited from cloud seeding. I just learned in my state that cloud seeding operations have been going on since the ‘70s! I’ve never heard of cloud seeding being tied to floods in any other part of the world.

Impact of Climate change is the only reasonable explanation for this rajn. Cloud seeding can not produce so much of rain, they can seed the clouds,but if the clouds are not present, then where from you get the rain? In my opinion, any rain is a blessing in place like UAE, they just need to have proper drainage systems to direct the rain water.

The technology involved in modifying the land and atmosphere available, not only to organisations within Dubai, but across the whole world are mind-boggling. Cloud seeding is but a small part of the whole climate/weather engineering equation. Remember, in this case we are talking about a region of the world whose advanced economy and engineering feats that are being utilised have gotten them to where they currently are. One can't help but wonder that considering their seemingly sophisticated technologies involving cloud seeding etc, how were they not able to plan forward for 'unusual' or catastrophic weather events...
