Wow this is crazy! Two weeks ago I drove from Florida to Washington to start touring the US. Yesterday, I walked into my first REI store in Tukwila to buy my first pair of hiking boots and saw Mt. Rainer from outside the store. I thought to myself, "how do I start climbing mountains?" Naturally. I binged a bunch of REI trailhead videos on YT. I wake up today and now I see Collin is trying to do the same thing and is asking the same questions I have. Glad I'm not the only noob around lol
@@rei The realism combined with humor and a family that work so well with each other. And seeing someone else with the look my wife had when I said I wanted to start hiking. This gentleman is someone his students must love.
I feel you! At the age of 50, I am in training for a twelve day backpacking trip to Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico. I’m looking forward to following your physical and geographical journeys!
Good for you man! At the age of 38 I took up kayaking and, this summer, at the age of 47 I took a leave of absence from my real life and spent the summer working with people half my age as a sea kayak guide off the coast of British Columbia. You're never too old, you can do anything you set your mind to!
This is great and inspirational! I’ve also been intimidated by getting outdoors alongside the hardcore mountaineers. Thanks for sharing your journey. Excited to keep watching!
Good content. Why Colin though? What makes him special in order to get the backing of REI? Is it because he knows or someone knows him in the industry or related? Was there a contest? If so, which one?
He was on REI's Trailhead series last year. Charismatic and funny. Not sure if he works for REI or is friends with someone high up the chain in Seattle. Definitely a strategy for the Co-Op to be inclusive in the outdoors and I approve. The Mirnivator is another great example.
