That’s great to know. Some interpreters give a literal interpretation which may sound strange to Americans because of cultural differences, but when Shota’s interpreter provides the English translation, it sounds like an American way of responding to the question. It reminds me of the interpreter for Parasite’s director Bong Joon Ho; Korean is a flowery language and a literal translation can sound a bit weird to Americans, but his interpreter did an excellent job of translating his responses in a way that sounded like an American response. Although I don’t understand Japanese, i feel the same way about Shota’s interpreter.

The interpreter's J to E translation may make more sense to Americans but his E to J tranalation is sometimes so direct that shota gets confused and asks the interpreter to repeat what he said to confirm the meaning. In this respect, Ippei was better.
