just you wait until the next FE game, it will be atleast 50% retreat from the same character, and after that game it will be 60% and then 70% until FE Retreat gets released.
Alternate ending: Alear: "Listen, I obviously can't kill you. How about you join us instead?" Mauvier: "Huh, sure I guess" [12 seconds later] Mauvier: *stabbed* "Damn... remember me, my comrades..." Alear: "Wait wait wait what happened to "I can't fall here?" It's just one guy, walk it off" Mauvier: *dies* Alear: *tableflip*
Don't forget that in Maddening he spontaneously remembers that he's supposed to be broken when hit by an axe and take effective damage from Ridersbanes and Poleaxes
@@DeltaTried it wasn't so dumb as this is when they were in the building in which had "trap doors" and is the only reasonable explanation at the time. The problem is how they fling an excuse and move on like how in chapter 10 they are forced to fight due to the entrance being locked but they also retreat out of said door after chapter 11. THAT'S what confuses me. Also how Ivy literally walks away.
The Four Hounds constantly retreating after every encounter isn't what bothered me in and of itself. It's more so that they kept talking shit every single time they showed up like I didn't whoop their asses in 99% of the times we fought. They really let chapter 11 get to their heads.
@@supervolcanobladerharris131 Mauvier with Micaiah is a constant threat (way less than once retreated), Zephia is always quite challenging, Griss, mostly on that one chapter. And Marni has been already defeated by the time you finished this comment. In Hard Mode, I never found them too easy (except maybe Marni, who's mostly annoying as part of the group)
Pick your poison: 1. Modern FE: boss keeps retreating, so you fight the same guy over and over. 2. Old FE: boss dies forever, but you fight 3 of his palette swaps in the following chapters.
its like IS doesn't know how to work with different "villain of the day" type bosses without reusing a major character for that or having like a third party intertwine the journey
@@WildFireGaming7 the story I understand but I really don't think the characters are bland, they aren't trauma dumping their lives on you like the ones in 3H but they have their own personality and desires that are deeper than people think. They do stand out imo. I guess I'm more forgiving of the story cause I enjoy cheese shows like power rangers and stuff like that a lot and the final scene is pretty cool so it doesn't bother me
When marnie/murrin literally said "I can't fall here, I have to retreat" in chapter 16, I just started laughin my ass off. They brought it to a new level.
Uh, I remember doing wacky stuff with classes without doing this. I thought reclassing was only about weapon proefficiency. I never ran into the trouble of not being able to reclass in another path. And I’ve made Lapis into a sword general.
I love how the literal diety dies with an axe swing, but the hounds will get multiple meteors dropped on them with multiple stab wounds and just decide to leave.
See everyone? This here is a life lesson, if things aren't going your way, don't give up, you can't fall here so make your retreat and try again when you're recovered. Truly a lesson we all should take to heart
New villain archetype just dropped The Hubert: An antagonist who, upon being defeated, can't fall here, only to fight them again in a few chapters, where they'll also be defeated, but can't fall there either.
Don't forget what keeps happening in cutscenes, too. Alear and their entire army: *[literally surrounding the enemy generals]* Enemy general: Hehe... until next time, Divine one! *[slowly walks off-screen]* Alear: Oh no!! They escaped!! how did we let this happen?? :(
Just treat the cutscenes as thought your watching "Theater" that should make them make more sense! I mean in the old cutscenes with the 2DS cutouts, you had them in that same close range and doing the same! The 3D just makes it JARRING because your expected to see it the same as the old "2D" I mentioned. They kind of shot themselves in the foot as well as 3H at least kept characters who are suppose to be far from each other in "different angles with the camera swiping between both to give an IMAGE of distance. Engage fucked itself by not doing that! So of course you get EXACTLY WHAT YOU JUST DESCRIBED!
At least it's nice that they return the courtesy when they have your party surrounded in the Cathedral. (Although it would be nice if we could chase them for a follow up chapter too.)
I will say out of the Four Hounds, Griss makes the absolute most sense being *defeated but can't fall here* given how much of a masochistic freak he is. Either he kills us or he gets turned on then runs aways to get another round, *there's no winning with that man.*
At least Takumi was an archer and driven by hatred and Slime Garon so it would make sense for Takumi to not be defeated until the very end. Out of all the villains “that can’t fall here” he has a lot of justification and I can’t believe I am praising Fates about something.
Chapter 11: Defeats all four Hounds (Optional), they run away Chapter 14: Defeats the Hounds present again, they run away Chapter 16: Defeats Mauvier and Marni, they run away again Chapter 17: Defeats the Four Hounds and Veyle, they all run away while Corrupted Hyacinth dies Chapter 20: Defeats Griss trying to warpskip everyone, he runs away Chapter 21: Marni is killed for plot reasons, Mauvier switches teams, and the others are defeated (and run away AGAIN) while Veyle stays behind and switches teams Chapter 23: Defeat the last two Hounds. They FINALLY die. Never have I ever seen more persistent antagonists as these bosses in Fire Emblem
Hubert at least instantly warped away and has a few months to recover, and has relatively few mandatory battles, and implied battle chaos and battallion goons to cover for him in the big plot battles you do fight him. The hounds you smack around for multiple lifebars, and when you defeat them them pull things such as literally sailing into the sunset while Alear watches, or laugh manically at Alear, then escape.
After 7 months of no Fire Emblem content, he finally comes out of retirement for this call back to Hubie. This time the dlc line from that vid fits here. Lol
Not only did they pull this an unholy amount of times, but they had the audacity to think I would give a shit when that 5 minute cutscene of Griss and Zephia came up saying “we could’ve been good guys all along if we wanted to be😢” Man WE DON’T CARE
This, AND Marni stole Mauvier's redemption arc out of nowhere. Mauvier should've been the one to sacrifice himself saving good Veyle. Marni could've been killed off in the previous chapter and that could've even been used as Mauvier's inspration to flip sides.
Marnie is at least funny, because when she's been stabbed, and everyone stands around, watching her bleed out, not really that put off by it, or really trying to help, I felt that. I really felt that.
Still, shout out to Nelucce who had to retreat, and couldn't fall here ...Just so he could fall at the hand of Zephia. If only this happened more often in this game (the Elusian Royals playing on Casual Mode while facing you were a signs of things to come) Also shout out to Abyme who died early on, came back reclassed 15 chapter afterwards, refuse to elaborate, dies again
Literally showed someone the first version of this video like: "this is basically the Four Hounds" So glad you made this. It's deserved for how often they show up as bosses.
I dunno why, every times he starts with the line, I get the urge to push A agressively then remember I'm watching a skit from someone who loves the game and has become an expert at interpreting "Hubert" and his Warp staff over the years. Love it.
Okay, but can we give a quick shoutout to my boy Kagetsu, who gives this quote almost word for word in chapter 8? I genuinely laughed when I heard him say it.
It wouldn't be as bad if they saved them as bosses for Chapter 17 instead of first appearing in Chapters 14 and 16. Generic bosses could have easily worked for those two chapters. Then it would have "only" been 17, 19, 20, 21, 23.
And if you wanna be EXTRA technical, the boss Corrupted appear the most (albeit in different forms under the same name) > Ch 1 - Sword Fighter Corrupted Boss > Jean Paralogue - Archer Corrupted Boss > Ch 12 - Wolf Knight Corrupted Boss > Ch 15 - Warrior? Corrupted Boss (Forgot if it was a Warrior or Berserker tbh) > Pact Ring Paralogue - Berserker Corrupted Boss + Hero Corrupted Boss (2 for 1 special) > Ch 22 - Halberdier Corrupted Boss A Corrupted Boss Appears in Every non-Castle Skirmish as well (aka not at Firene Castle, Brodia Keep, Elusia Castle, or Solm Palace), regardless of when you initiate the Skirmish or if the Skirmish is a Gold Skirmish or not And there are Corrupted Versions of Named Characters as well fought as bosses throughout the story (Spoilers Below) > Ch 10 - Corrupted Morion > Ch 17 - Corrupted Hyacinth > Ch 25 - Corrupted Lumera Thats a minimum of *at least* 10 Corrupted Bosses; 7 of which are unnamed and another 7 are mandatory
The only unique one-time bosses are: > Rodine - Ch 4 Boss > Nelucce - Ch 5 Boss (Who is killed off screen in a cutscene 🗿) > Teronda - Ch 6 Boss > Mitan - Anna Paralogue Boss > Tetchie & Totchie - Ch 13 Bosses (edited in; brought up by @Missgnoleader) Each of the Emblems in their respective Paralogues: > Lyn > Lucina > Ike > Byleth > Corrin > Eirika > Sigurd > Leif > Roy > Micaiah > Celica > Marth And most of the DLC Emblems: > Tiki > Hector > Soren > Camilla > Veronica > Chrom & Robin Once you hit Ch 7, get used to seeing the same 15 faces + Corrupted over and over again...
At least one of them have the brain to join you instead of running away….. *Meanwhile in 3 hopes* Byleth: Dang I have been defeat but i can’t fall here, I must make my retreat. Shez: why does that feel familiar?
You forgot when alear and his crew got their rings stolen and were caught between the 4 hounds and sombron. They were defeated but they couldn't fall there and somehow... Retreated 😂
I wish you had included Kagetsu’s lines from Chapters 8 and 9. Also, imagine the zenith of all this is a rival to the MC that fights you EVERY single map (barring some paralogues and the first few chapters) until the fated showdown before the final map.
Bismix: "WE'VE BEEN FARMING YOU FOR EXP!" Shoutout to Mauvier for having Nosferatu to make SP grinding easier as well. This part was so freaking relatable.
Having to voice them I'd say. A lot more difficult to have a bunch of palette swaps when you also need to hire voice actors for them. In theory it means you get to characterise a villain in greater depth because of repeat appearances. In practice they just lose all appearances of threatening you since they you beat them a dozen times.
@@GPhipps can't wait for the FE4 remake where it actually is better balanced in terms of main bad guys retreating or getting defeated once and for all!
I just finished Engage, and have been waiting for something SPECIFICALLY from this channel covering that game. I was not disappointed by the result. Though, I'm still waiting to see your "tried to play" based on it, when it comes out.
