I also survived the 70s 80s rock scene going up/down the east coast. I was a LEAD guitarist not some rhythm guitarist hahahaha... And when great guitarist were a dime a dozen you became a bass player. Yeah I learned every Aerosmith song I could and Brad = what every "lead" guitarist needs. A sober, consistent ground for you to dance on and around. I didn't realize just how many lead parts were played by Brad until YT videos took off.
Brad is probably better than Perry. He went to Berkeley didn't he? Obviously not the showman Perry is, but he's a crucial part of the band. Some of their coolest songs are his. Nobody's Fault. His solo on Kingsv& Queens is perfect. Not so much this version, but the album version is perfect. It has a hopeless & depresed feeling (for lack of a better description) to it that matches the music perfectly.
@@Roger8176 Guaranteed he is. Listen to the first album, the lead is played by Brad on One Way Street. Nobody's Fault on Rocks, beautiful melodic lead. So many others I could name.
@@da324 uh,,,, yes the guy from Bad Company, The Firm, Queen, yes I have heard of him. He is great, but he doesn't hit the notes Tyler can. Silver Blue and Gold is my favorite to hear him sing though
I'm 62, and Aerosmith is probably the best Rock band in my lifetime. Other good bands, but none had the music / lyrics/ overall bad boy image, full on Rock and Roll.
Chuck1960 That's a very cool and complimentary thing to say - and this most recent rendition of Rats In The Cellar is super - groovy. That being said, if you'd seen Aerosmith in the summer of '77 here in Seattle when they were touring with Jeff Beck and Rick Derringer, you'd have said the exact opposite in regards to their performance... They looked cool and that's all. I know you mean well and ... I too am so happy that this band was able to pull it together without a death or serious injury to any member.
Kevin Kiso I agree that in the LATE 70's, there live shows were rough, but in the early 70's before all the hard drugs, they owned the stage as they did in the 80's, 90's and now.
I agree... I just finished reading "Rocks," Joe's book ... Man, my friend, please believe that I'm not trying to bait you, and I don't troll for petty b-shit... But those '80's and '90's releases just do not do it for me; not like S.O.S. [Too Bad], No More No More, Combination, Nobody's Fault... Get Your Wings/Toys In The Attic and Rocks are in my opinion The Cream of the band. When Tim Collins was [mis]managing them there were so many song crafts-people like Desmond Child, fuck... I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, Amazing, Cryin', all that stuff is just such shit! I'm sorry... I hate to say that... Peace friend.
+Kevin Kiso You speak the truth brother, I grew up falling asleep to Aerosmith as a toddler, And Rocks , Draw the line, Toys in the attic were all cassettes I bought and wore out as a teenager. You gotta give Joe and Brad credit for showing up at the sessions in the late eighties and nineties with thier guitars blaring out the old tried and true heavy ass riffs, Only to have those riffs lowered in the mix. Love in an elevator was very heavy before the studio hacks toned it down.
When they step onto the stage, they own it! First seen them in 76 or so For i2 bucks. Or 10.It was the 70's... little fuzzy on that era. Last time was a bit more. But well worth it! Gotta luv these TRUE musicians. Come back to Omaha.
So glad it wasnt like it was back in the day. Security was so tight. Remember guys sneaking video cameras in there hats. Least the world has great footage like this till the end of days . My friend got caught taping in Camden 2002 and gave them blank VCR tape to leave him alone. Put real one in and kept recording. Got to find that VCR copy one day. They played Come Together in the lawn that time.
I remember listening to Spaced back in the 70s with head phones on and thinking this is so cool, had a kenwood rack system with turn table and the synthesizer in the song bouncing back and forth between head set was something i never heard before
ME AND BEST FRIEND OF 40 YEARS LISTENED TO TYLER PERRY INTERVIEW ON WLS CHICAGO IN THE 70S JUST WOW ..THATS WHEN WE HEARD STEVEN SAY" EXUSEMWA.." NOT SPELLIN IT RIGHT LOL WE WERE JUST ENTHRALLED!!!
At 10:22 Brad get pissed off on Steven... At 12:09 Approaches Steven to tell him, Dont you go fucking touch my guitar!, At 12:27 Steven glances over and with a look that says What the hell are you talking about? and the band played on! Drama, action and rock'n'roll!
Always a tough choice but Kings and Queens has always been my favorite Aerosmith song. I wish Brad would get more attention and credit for this one, if nothing else. Pretty sure he also wrote it.
Listen closely . They have an amazing backup vocalist singing all the high harmonies. Steven still sings the high falsetto he's known for . No disrespect though. It's a common practice for major touring bands to have ghost back up singers that nobody sees on stage .
Brad Whitford has to be one of the most underrated axemen in the business. Is he up to Joe Perry standards?....nah. But his talent is there nonetheless.
@@aschule5684 Joe himself has said many times that Brad is a better player than him. However, Joe is the king of riffs. And one of the main songwriters on the band, along with Steven. Undeniable.
you are not dead Tengo. We are not dead. Define life and then we can define death or the reverse. but existing isn't what we mean.I know what you meant. I agree it is what it is and it is what it was. let it be whatever and see what the offsprings is
