The newly appointed Attorney General previously advised Labour to permit public bodies to boycott Israel.
Richard Hermer KC offered legal counsel last July regarding Tory plans to prohibit public bodies from launching their own divestment campaigns against foreign nations and territories.
Michael Gove, then Communities Secretary, introduced this legislation, fulfilling a 2019 manifesto promise, after several councils supported the BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanctions) movement against Israel.
Mr. Hermer advised Labour that the Economic Activity of Public Bodies (Overseas Matters) Bill would "stifle free speech at home."
He criticised the Bill as "poorly drafted," asserting it would negatively impact the UK's ability to protect and promote human rights abroad.
The legislation was eventually abandoned.

It's gonna happen soon or later if white people are having less babies 🤷🏻‍♂️ the less babies we have the more the population ages, so we increase population by allowing more people into the country.. it's really not complicated. Since Brexit we have less white Europeans coming to the country.. and I wonder who's fault that was 😅

This is exactly why I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Labour - 2 days in and Starmer is already looking to pass the responsibility for decisions related to foreign affairs to local authorities. He is a weak leader who has proven he lacks the courage of his own convictions. I’m sure he’s a lovely bloke but the UK needs someone to come in and make the tough decisions.

true. but then again, in every country there's pretty much the same issue: ppl lost hope in their gvmt. they think no matter who they vote for it's gonna be more of the same. Nigel did an absolute mess with the Brexit deal(unless you are a pro-brexit, i'm not), and now gives good selling points to the voters. but said voters knew him from Brexit, and many blame him for it. so the voters were not in his favor by a lot. then the tories, who have some fans but otherwise lost lots of voters who split, many going to Labour because they see them as competent. ALSO, many that did vote for Labour have the mindset of "oh, those poor souls suffering from civil war, famine and risk so much coming here, we should help them. those racists want to sink their boats instead and let them drown 😭". how do you talk with them? i can't. the reality will not hit these ppl until they actively suffer from it.
