dude his theory literally has some truths to it. if uve seen the video ud know toby sort of premiered the idea in this rom hack and was hugly inspired by the game thus the similiarities and connections he made in the video but ofcourse. they are just refrences and similiarities which is why his theory is sorta false but still has valid points
Ironic that the sans is ness theory brought attention to Toby Fox's old rom hack he was embarrassed of so it would never leave him, only to end up following matpat around for the rest of his existence.
It is insane how much hate MatPat got for it initially. Then again, most of that undertale community was probably younger in age, and Toby was new to the huge spotlight he attained. I remember it being more silly and cool than anything, not really making fun of Toby or anything, but I can see why he’d be self-conscious at the time
i dont know why people were so hostile to it at the time. it clearly had some merit considering the sans room, and even then it was just a fun little theory that affected literally nothing.
Sans is Ness has been referenced in smash brothers Ultimate, the most ambitious crossover ever, an insanely successful theatrical film, and in official art by the games creator, sniffles it's just so beautiful 😢.
I’ve not yet seen the fnaf movie. But that’s such a weird reference to make in that movie. How and why does it relate to sans or undertale. I get the name ness is the joke. It just feels too forced for the fnaf movie. Name him Jeremy, have a co worker named Jeremy. And you’ve still got a silly name joke related to the series. It’s a silly joke. It’s just always confused me to have a “sans is ness” reference in the fnaf movie.

It’s just weird to me when the movie the reference is in has nothing to do with the reference itself. Just the actor. It would make more sense in an undertale movie. Or name him sans in an earthbound movie. It’s just a weird movie to make the joke in.
It’s not that weird. Matpat shows up in the movie because he’s famous for making FNAF theories and it’s a bit of fanservice. He literally says ‘hey, it’s just a theory’ in the scene. The small nametag isn’t called attention to, but it jokes about a particularly controversial theory he made: apparently Scott did it deliberately to kind of rib him.
@@GymnopedieTornado which is why it would make sense if he made a fnaf reference in the fnaf movie. And not an earthbound/undertale reference in the fnaf movie. It’s the sans is ness reference in the fnaf movie that’s strange to me. Not matpat. I know he’s made tons of fnaf theory’s. So why reference the one undertale theory? (I’m not counting the pope and this is pre deltarune theory) It’s just a weird movie to put the reference in IMO If it’s a jab from Scott that’s fine. It’s still just a strange reference choice to me.
