The only one smart thing that she did not do was steal Mariah Carey vocals. That would be a huge lawsuit if she did that.

Sound tech time! People should've been on reddit after that NYE fiasco. The sound techs were going off on how royally screwed over she was. First off, the second she had ear monitors issues, they would've known in seconds if it was fixable. It wasn't, they should've gone on to phase 2 - which is turn on the monitors. Those would be speakers around the stage to blast music directly at the artist. If those don't work phase 3 is go to a commercial. Fix the problems and have her start from the top. They literally did nothing. However, the medley was supposed to be lipped, yet vocals were missing from her second song Emotions. The prompter didn't work and her mic was set to the wrong setting which wasn't the case during her rehearsal which was also covered live by Ryan Seacrest right down to the sound check. I find it more interesting that nobody mentions Dick Clark died in 2012, his company was sold off, and they couldn't round up the talent like he could. They were trying to sell the show again and had a firm offer to sell for 1 billion, but still had to show numbers when they were struggling to get current talent on the show. Mariah had to cut her vacation with her kids short to do this for them when they couldn't find a headliner.
