Agreed! Truly an exception short film - the initial videos, editing, narration, a great cast of characters whom we've grown very fond of, an exquisite location, a great story line, and all capturing the best of humanity. Thank you to Seth, Elizabeth, and the Archer crew, for sharing this experience with us.

@@TheSailingFamily This is truly first class content. I was smiling, jigging, and welling up, exactly when the story told me to. For a family hoping to ride the waters as you have, this video epitomises why. Thanks for putting the hours in behind the screen, it inspires more than you'll ever know.

My father, Robert Kuhlken, was a scholar and specialized in studies of the Fiji islands... he made many trips and likely visited with this village. Unfortunately he left when I was an infant to pursue his interests, and I only learned of his life and work through the internet and websites associated with his work. It would have been amazing to, in some way, be a part of it - kudos to you for involving your kids.

That is probably the single best story told on RU-vid! It was a transcendent experience not only for you guys but all who watch. It was not about politics, race, color, or rich and poor. It was about the love that humanity can have, just for each other. Everyone needs more of this in our lives! Maybe everyone should be required to spend in time Fulage!

Super Video, Fiji is the best! Also saw a few Dinghy accidents, mostly when people started the 40hp in gear and pitched them off the stern with engine running! Of course the Dinghy then circles and lucky that the driver was able to swim clear, the only way to stop the dinghy was to run in front with another dinghy towing a line to get caught in the driverless boat and stop the Prop! Another indecent of Astrolabe reef where a local boat took tourists diving but fled the scene when a violent squall rolled through, the dive boat returned to village without the divers! A sleepless night in the harbor for us but amazing the 5 divers found drifting at sea 24 hours later!! Good Luck is Fiji!!

Whoa! Probably your best video yet. I’m a tough guy but was tearing up at the end-as if I was leaving Hehe. What I like most about your videos is the realness, sailing is not all about tropical sunsets and leisure. There is a real inherent danger, as you continually show us. Anyone of the misfortunes you have shown, might send the average person back to land. But you guys persevere, and overcome each obstacle only to find something more beautiful after. I wish you and your family all the best! Thanks for sharing your life!

Bula, Wow!! Amazing video and yes the pure life in Fiji is all about the beautiful people.. I am not a sailor but a traveler and surfer and have been visiting Fiji for over 20 years. I was watching the Fulaga video(which is fabulous) and noticed someone I have known for many years Karen and Kurt. Karen was the owner of the Scuba Shop on Malolo Island, she helped our Foundation tremendously by donating all of our air tanks, and is a beautiful person. Can you please do me a favor if you can and pass this on? I last spoke to Karen while she was on her way from Malolo to Fulaga. Please tell her Mark, Greg, Greg and Russ from Fiji Dental and Medical Foundation all want to wish her the all the best and we miss her. Hopefully when Fiji re-opens we will return to Solveu Village on Malolo Island to continue our yearly Dental Clinic. Please tell Kurt hello as well. I can't tell you what joy your videos bring to my wife and I. What you are doing and showing to your children is absolutely awesome, keep up the good work. Amazing. Outstanding. Heartwarming. Shall I go on? You put together a video that I am sure is one of your longest to date but I still didn't want it to end. It could have gone on Longa' ! This, to me, is what travelling and exploring is all about. Meeting and experiencing life in new places. Not tourist traps. Make new friends and "live" the life for a while. Share experiences. Enrich each other, like you were able to do with the books for the schools and, I believe to a greater degree- also in return your host family was enriched by spending time with your boys. I think they truly enjoyed teaching them about "Island Life". Your boys now have an extra auntie and uncle too.

What an experience for your family. I really enjoyed that you focused so much on the people and island life. You can obviously do hours and hours of video on the utterly stunning ocean and bay there. The focus on the island's life is a reminder that we all have too much. How happy the islanders are with hardly anything. Incredible. Thank you for reminding me. They export love and smiles there. I was able to visit Figi many years ago and I did not want to leave as well. Safe Travels.

Seth, Elizabeth & boys, Wow, simply WOW! I started following you 10 odd years ago when you set out from the US. Seen every episode as they drop and must admit I was stoked when you posted that introduction video standing in front of the White House announcing your new tour. When you pulled up at the dock and panned to the travel hoist bay I knew that the red boat was Archer, I was buzzing. Your editing has come a long way and passed a lot of more experienced vloggers with ease. But mate, this one gave me goose bumps. I mean, this video had so much passion. Keep them coming. don't stop. You captured the essence of humanity, the spirit of cruisers and most of all your story stopped the world spinning out of control for a brief 30 minutes. keep living the Dream, and I hope our paths cross at some point Thankyou Jamie MV Carmen - Gold Coast to the Philippines 06/21

Hi from Huntington L.I. NY. Love ur channel. So sorry to hear about what happened to Danny. Two years ago we had a terrible similar situation at a local Yacht Club where the kids were learning to sail small Sunfish. One tipped over and the instructor brought the dinghy to pick up the kids in the water. One was struck by the prop. An 11 year old boy lost his life. One minute he's having the time of his life and the next he fighting for his life. Since then, shrouds have been installed over ALL the propellers that service the Yacht Club. Essentially they are cages that protect anyone near the propeller. They do effect the performance but its hardly noticeable. Your check list was excellent and the "leash" is so important to have in case you do fall over. (Also very dangerous to try and mount a run away tender.) Thanks for your PSA and people should look into the prop cages for ALL ages! MB

The storyboard of the video and the editing is just top of the line ... And you as a couple, as parents, together with your boys almost feel like family. Thanks for sharing your life-style. By watching this video, a whole lot of people have enjoyed the island 'by proxy' without making it more touristy :-)

You didn’t have to tell the boys to embrace your hosts, they wanted them to know that they had grown to care for them as family. It was very touching. Great storytelling, thanks for sharing.

Wow, what an incredible video - what an experience! Unbelievable about Danny, though, what a tragedy. This village is exactly what I'd hope to find on a cruise of the South Pacific. Years ago, Dave and Linda Dashew began publishing the "Cruising Encyclopedia" and in that book Linda told stories of the people they met on their voyage through the islands of the Pacific. The people they met often had almost no possession, they barely had clothing, and what did they want from cruisers? Friendship. The only thing they really valued was friendship. After staying on an island for ten days or so and Weighing anchor, the islanders would cry. You could never be the same after a visit with such people.

Thank you. We have had some incredible experiences in many places but honestly nothing quite like in Fulaga. The host family tradition really allows for an authentic experience. And we feel really lucky to have gotten Alfretti and Bali as our host. We will never forget them. :) Elizabeth

@@TheSailingFamily Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the reply. Thinking further on this, the movie "The Bounty" with Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins comes to min. When the men left the island (before the mutiny) their women took a shell and cut their faces as an outer expression of what they were feeling. Not sure if that ever happened, but it's a great way to show how important human interaction is. BTW, the kids seemed to absolutely love Alfretti and Bali! Do they still talk about them?

It was amazing to here a tune being played by the guitarists. A tune I have known since the yearly 60's written & performed by Peter Poser of New Zealand. He became a world famous guitarist. Amazing to me. Enjoy Fiji for as long as you can. Stay away from the main land as Covid has hit hard.

Agreed, Great video. But that's the way you guys roll (errrr sail). Great photos and great story telling. Love it when you go into the history and the back ground of the area you are in. It makes it much more interesting. As I said before, it's great when you stabilize the the video to the horizon when the camera is attached to Archer. You realize we are interested in seeing the harbor when going into an anchorage, rather than the boat.
