This line buried the man unquestionably. "Your penmanship has the fingerprints of a gimmick And affection and the intimacy of impressions of that nigga you friends with I ain't gotta say it to say it I can't even blame you, the nigga's one of my favorites"
It was a complex way of what Eminem told MGK " Cause he knows long as I'm Shady, he's gon' have to live in my shadow" that's royce everytime he's in an interview they ask about Eminem more
@@ThanosTheTitan93 idk if it was "more complex". Complexity isn't comparable here as they have 2 different contexts offering similar meanings In response to MGK saying he'll have intercourse with Kim, Em' says "How the fuck can Him and I battle? He'll have to fuck Kim in my flannel And I'll give him my sandals, cos he knows as long as i'm Shady he's gon' have to live in my shadow" This is more for wordplay on Eminem's own nickname and complete rebuttal, even pointing out the similarities or desperate measures MGK went through in his career and 'Rap Devil' to copy Eminem as a wannabe, even wanting to fuck his own ex-wife. In response to Royce mentioning the love of skin colour difference Lupe apparently has whilst also mentioning himself as an untouchable lyricist, Lupe says (it's already quoted above, just gonna simplify here) "Your lyricism is superficial, even though you come across as personable and likeable like Eminem, he's real, i don't need to point out the difference, you know it" This is more for rebuttal and commentary on Royce's twisted perspective and perhaps contradictory statements. Royce calling Lupe out for loving "white people more than blacks" but is closest of friends with **the** white guy in rap, always defends him and has great love for him, yet even though Eminem as a character is a gimmick, his pen isn't. But Royce's pen is, despite being so close to 1 of the greatest rappers ever
He is the master of double, triple and at times the quadruple entendres. He is quite simply the greatest lyricist. I'd put him bar for bar with anyone. And yes, I am dick riding. But prove me wrong.
That was the line that ended it, the if it wasn't for/four BODIED him and the rest was overkill don't bring yo ass back.. ETHER level, can't stop playing this shit!!!

Lupe literally displayed all ways to attack someone in a battle. He just told a story, humiliated, and joked on Royce....while catering to both the advanced listeners and the instant gratification listeners.
@@dutchea be objective, dude. Lupe just tore Royce a new one! I fuck with Royce too but dont come on here acting ignorant, talking that 10x shit. You must not really know who Lupe is....🤦♂️

Lupe bodied Royce (who is considered as good as Eminem) without even trying to go hard and do all that rhyming with words like Royce did to fool people into thinking that his lyrics was harder. Lmao. Imagine what Lupe would do to Eminem. He bodied "eminem equivalent rapper aka Royce da 5'9". Lupe is levels above Eminem and Royce. There's not a single song by Eminem and Royce that can fuck with MURAL. They aint got it. @@alsimmons9975 Dude I am one of lupes biggest fans his mixtapes and content changed my life and impacted me greatly but yall are hyping up some bars that are super simple and average for lu’s standards. That bar was dope but not crazy at all. This is coming from someone who thinks Lu is definetly superior to Royce lyrically.
My homie REFUSES to believe Lu did this off the top of his head, but I've been trying to tell him Lu is an alien amongst aliens. Easily one of the best writers ever period and I'm not restricting this to rap. Dude is a legend 12 times over.
Jay Z does this where the essence of the verse we hear is freestyled/improvised but then improved upon afterward. What we hear is not a freestyle but it is derived from one. Some of these bars could have been word for word, flow for flow how Lu freestyled them. Based on the bars of this track it's likely that most of them were improved upon with slight touches and additions after the original freestyle which definitely consisted of more ideas, some of which are left out of the final product. This technique always produces a beautiful paradox; a polished yet rough around the edges composition that is always original and unique.
@@santana8924 have you seen what he does when it's obviously completely off the top? There's freestyles on RU-vid he's done that aren't 5 percent as good as this. Most of these lines aren't off the top . I mean it's easy to tell , you don't come up with multi layer punchlines in the middle of multi syllable schemes over and over in an actual improvised freestyle. That's not how rapping works , for anyone
This track is the equivalent to Freeza playing around with Vegeta & them in his 2nd form on Namek. This is pure fire and this ain’t even his final form.
Been said it, I’ll say it again, LUPE IS THE GREATEST LYRICIST ALIVE. You ain’t gotta like his music, it’s not for everyone but this dude is an absolute MASTER of the craft and ALL of his music requires more than one listen before you can even begin to fathom what he’s saying. Dude is a GENIUS.
@@warrendchild this was during a time where they had a show together. But during the pandem and after they was always on insta live. Royce paces ALOT. It was just a funny af bar imo.
@TheBunBun54321 I feel you, my core Hip Hop personal artists are like Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Krs-One, Immortal Technique, Public Enemy and of course Jay-Z. So Lupe’s stronger political bars hit for me. But the Mixtape I suggested I think is a better illustration of raw skill on the Mic since it is full of conceptual artistry and show off rapping.
The most annoying thing ever is when you mention Lupe to someone and they call him "the 'Kick, Push' dude". Y'all better respect this man pen. There are very, very few even in close proximity of his caliber.
Just because he's more than his song, don't mean he's NOT the "kick, push" dude. What if I was like, "who did that Kick, Push masterpiece?" You gonna NOT say Lupe cause you think it's disrespectful???? It's not like it was someone else.
@@yamonyosun813 Rephrasing the inquiry the way you did immediately changes the narrative. I was referring to the ones who say it diminishingly. I'm sure you know what I mean.
@@yamonyosun813 It's all good. I appreciate you revealing the fallacy. I definitely could've specified in the post, lol. Just a couple of Fiasco fans that want him to be recognized for the bulk of his work, not just whatever made it to the radio or mainstream.
its like royce did 20 back flips and put on some crazy acrobatic display of kicks and punches and then Lupe slowly walked up and knocked him on his ass with one punch.
Makes me think of the scene in Indiana Jones where the guy does all the moves and stuff with his weapon then Indy just pulls out his gun and shoots him

@@Chedbenno The greatness of it is that Lupe is known for being one of the best lyricist of all time, both Jay-z and Nas have confirmed that, which says alot, but he showed how effortlessly he could disarm Royce by waking up in the middle of the night and putting out a response in 2-3 hours by recording his song doing a punch-in-freestyle, toying with Royce...while Royce spent 1 week making a song just rhyming random words together, throwing subtle shots, while Lupe was rapping while talking directly to him...there is a reason why Royce never responded and got all emotional on ig live, talking about how he would kill lupe with a response, but it was all talk and no rapping, you must be in the 10% who feel Royce won 😂

All I can say is that he is waaaay ahead of his time when it comes to Rap, way ahead of even the greats in Rap's pool. He too genius with it. He too intellectual, too Cool. He will be hailed and taught about in schools. So underrated it Hurts Me Soul.
Royce ruined his rapper mystique fckin around what Instagram lives and poking lyrical monsters... He can try to play victim but the internet has receipts...
I hoping Kendrick does to drake what Lupe did to Royce. Them bars to make your soul burn slow. The type of bars that have you looking in the mirror and reconsider your life. Attacking all your insecurities ones you didn’t even know about till they were laid out on a track for all to hear. To be honest Royce pushed himself into a corner with all the live’s the podcast he left himself over exposed. All Lupe said was why are the rappers talking instead of rapping. when the rapping finally started Lupe came back with surgical strikes. Don’t know if Kendrick has enough stuff on drake that drake hasn’t already exposed or embraced. So unsure if he will be able to cut deep like Lupe was able to.

As a Royce stan since Slaughterhouse. (being honest, I was a kid when he first came out.) LUPE absolutely DESTROYED Royce. I'm happy too because as much as i love Royce, He deserved all the credit he got with Prhyme, Slaughterhouse and his last 3 or 4 albums and Bar Exams, He was getting really cocky and him walking around his house all 2020 because of the Rona, he felt himself too much and he got too political and caught up on what's happening on TV. too opinionated. Cant blame him tho, he was stuck inside all day. And then Royce was weird on the podcast, i guess its their "friend dynamic" but it didnt seem geniune. Lupe is a goddamn monster.

I spit your verse to get immersed inside my enemy / just to remind you they gotta go through you, just to get to me 🔥 dawg this bar was a BAR maybe the best of the whole thing
That exactly Lupe's point. If you want to prove whose a better rapper, a battle ain't the way to do it. First problem is that it's not objective because of the audience and their biases and second, you can diss and how deep you cut matters more than how well structured your lyrics are.
Well, Mickey was lyrical Miracle while slapping Royce at the same time. Lupe was chill and just pointed out the facts. Mickey did both. Royce raped well but he wasn't really on Lupe's neck like they were on his. The entire rap was a Royce slap with personals and disarming from both Lupe and Mickey. meanwhile Royce was 90% lyrical General and 10% talking about Lupe.
@drjonesey5 Mickey Factz was less lyrical than people give him credit for on that track. The issue with several of his triple entendre with word play is that it sometimes distracts from the message. What does a man cave have to do with the beef? What does Deadpool have to do with the beef. That and other reason made it hard for me to take it too seriously because he was playin. Lupes shit was scathing - going at the core of Royce. Describing and putting a spotlight on Royce's two faces - his hypocritical behavior etc. Lupe was talking to him and us. That's why it had impact! Everyone felt it. Lupe was really going at Royce and cutting deep. Mickey had some fun jabs but I don't remember a single thing that he went after royce as a person about except checking boxes.

Lupe was actually a gangster, he pushed H for one of the biggest dealers in the Chi before he started his mixtape career, and almost joined the Latin Kings on the South Side. Then Chilly Chill (who he pushed H for) recognized his talent and created a label for Lu drop mixtapes on... which obviously was a great investment, lookin' back on it. People think Lu just some nerdy nigga, when the irony is that brother is one of only a few rappers who actually dealt and lived that life. And even more irony is Lu almost never even raps about it.
In addition to being a master lyricist I feel like Lupe is also a G for real. A LOT of his music is quietly terrifying once you understand how he codes things. I'm a huge fan of both of these dudes and even though it's sad to see personal relationships go sour it's definitely exciting to see two S-class emcees go for each others' throats.
Just one... Royce has been preaching on Instagram this whole time. But, I agree with your "quietly terrifying" take. I think Lupe has been telling us his story on every album in the most abstract way possible so he doesn't incriminate himself.
