I’m a serving Royal Marine and we’ve been covering recent strike action for ambulance workers. Got absolutely no bad feeling for those who’ve chosen to do so even though they earn a lot more than me. As long as their real wage is decreasing and MPs/bankers continue to earn more - I will fully support the movement. And for the record if I’m asked to ever police crowds and protests in any role that’s not a peaceful presence I will quit my job with immediate affect. I joined because I love my country. I will not work for and support the interests of a government that doesn’t.

as a serving royal marine, do you think it's justified, that these nurses can create a "500 a week dead, and counting" statistic, in the name of a political stunt, that is organised by labour? after all, people seem to forget, that labour controls the unions of which are currently striking, another question, whilst i have you here, did you ever find those WMD's in the middle-east? we the people are eager to justify the bombing of 500,000 iraqi children, whose relatives migrate across europe to reach us, and dismantle our antion from within, sadiq khan is not english, he intentionally increased knife crime in london, by publicly announcing the end of "stop and search" sadiq khan is what we call, a spy, incentivesed by the actions of our army, which is just a political arm, why havent you resigned already?

@Marcus Avey some say that social media has given arseholes with opinions the ability to be rude and indifferent to people online who they wouldn't normally say anything to for fear of shitting themselves as they ran in a different direction. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on those sort of parasites? Perhaps some arseholes with opinions who sit on their arses all day should think carefully before insulting a member of the British armed forces who has probably done and seen more in his short life than some arseholes have done in the entirety of their own, wouldn't you say? Just an opinion.

Due to the existing GPs working very hard, it is actually fairly easy to get a GP appointment across most of the UK, albeit many are telephone appointments. In fact, GPs have been setting records for the number of patients seen over the last few months. However, many GPs have retired early or just given up, and the reduction in training from 2009 to 2021 didn't help, so there are less of them, and they are all under immense pressure, but CONservatives saying that it is impossible to get an appointment is an attempt to promote the growth of private GPs & into private health care.

Where have the unions been for the last 13 years of austerity? Many of them have said and done very little about declining wages, which will never be clawed back. Right wing policies supported by a right wing electorate ( yes, even most of the Labour voters are neoliberals at heart) have destroyed the UK. Anyone who thinks it is going to change is deluded. It is too late. Neoliberalism is hard baked into the system. Thatcher won and we live in Thatcher's Britain today. That is the tragic truth.

@eightiesmusic1984
@eightiesmusic1984 Год назад
@@daxiom6119 I would not describe my view as defeatist. I think it is an accurate assessment of the situation that the voters have put themselves in by failing to support even moderate social democracy. I do not subscribe to ' know my place', quite the opposite. I want to see a genuine change in Britain and firmly believe that democratic socialism has all the answers to the UK and the world's problems. However, experience and knowledge of UK political history in the twentieth and twenty first century tells me that the conditions for a different type of society do not exist in Britain, no matter how much I or others might hope for it. I am 52 so I have seen how the situation has worsened since the 1970s/ 80s, with widening inequality, etc. I am very much aware that fatalism can only play into the hands of the Tories and fellow neoliberals in the Labour Party ( and Liberal Democrats) but the voters have had their chance to force a change of direction but rejected it. In essence they want the same policies they complain about. Until they realise this by rejecting neoliberalism, nothing will change. The reaction to the Corbyn interlude ( forget him as an individual, it is about the policies), proves this.

Find a way that agency staff can strike mate its almost impossible by the very nature and they are the most abused and underpaid.. loopholes and paying employers national insurance admin fees no sick pay.. you have a day off sick and you get instantly replaced or the employer could just randomly decide they dont like the person or "fancy a changed" and then your stuck waiting for the agency to find somthing else.... Find a way for construction workers to strike because the same shit will happen to them

Correct. Labour has purged the left and is committed to the same neoliberal policies that have caused the utter mess Britain is in. The voters, of course, in a country with extremely low levels of political literacy ( or any kind, including the written form) do not join up the dots. They act as if the decline in living standards has happened by accident or the conspiracy against working people was not done in plain sight. Ever since 1979 th voters have accepted neoliberal polices, including in the Blair era. They rejected even moderate social democracy under Corbyn because they mistook it for radical, 'extreme' left socialism. Labour's support is soft and it may contrive to lose the next election in a re-run of 1992. But if it does form a government, it will continue the same policies that have destroyed Britain for forty four years. Living standards will continue to tank- the time for change has gone and it is too late.

The problem with the UK today is that the infrastructure of this country, ie, rail, transport, energy, quality huge manufacturing has been sold off to foreign investors. We, thru consecutive government's have sold this country down the river and there is no room now for manoeuvre unless of policy change. The Tories have left this country financially bankrupt with nothing left to sell due to a "greed is good" privatisation policy started by Thatcher. Even British steel is owned by China!!. This country is now being run by the criminally corrupt financial "cess pit" London financiers, corporate businesse's and off shore foreign investors, all for profit and greed at the ordinary working classes expense. What are the basic human rights? Hmm, I could recommend some GOOD improvements; could you also? The right to withdraw your labour/strike is already restricted, and didn't need additional legislation. Let's stop comparing to what over countries are doing, and start being the example set that other countries should aim for... Simple.
