@@pastorofmuppets8834 She's never used the trains in her pampered life, pater buys her ponies to ride to the Sky studios Fisher Price activity centre every so often.
As a passenger of Northern every single day, I agree wholeheartedly that we want a good and fair service and not to "just get to work". Mike is schooling the presenter on what people actually need, at this rate she will get a job at the BBC to make sure those tories have the cleanest bumpholes.
I'm a human being and a middle aged woman and a journalist...........what is she wittering on about,if thats the best she can do maybe we need someone with better interviewing skills
I do not care what the passengers think, I care that british people are being treated like peasants. And if corporations are allowed to treat train workers like peasants those passengers will son become peasants in time.
Well done to him for speaking up. Trains services are expensive and horrendous outside of strikes anyway. I'd rather the train drivers and conductors to go to work with a good night sleep and belly full than sleep deprived because of bills and hungry. And I rather trains and offices being ran efficiently
How can she sit there and spout her Tory fed crap. I like every other working class person stand by the railway workers, the NHS staff, the teachers and every other working class person who only wants a fair deal. If the railway links are destroyed, the buses come to a stand still and they make fuel so expensive we can't afford to come and go to work so be it, we'll find another way to survive.
“ I’m a middle aged woman journalist on 200k plus expenses and I’ve had conversations with other people on 6 figure salaries who sit on their arses asking silly questions about people who get up at all hours and work in all weathers for the benefit of the public so I know what I’m talking about “
What an awful presenter. As a passenger I would like people to be treated fairly, safely and with less money being shunted to shareholders. As a passenger we see how poorly it is functioning day to day due to lack of investment and constant cuts. We see through the government and corporate nonesense and the media mouthpieces that peddle it.
Why do all these presenters on TV spout the same tripe about the strikers being to blame for causing disruption and rarely focus on the REASON they are striking ? Seems like they have been told under no circumstances can they upset the government or train companies and just rephrase their questioning to say the same thing again and again rather than ask questions the public want answered. I bet she earns more than a doctor as well just to sit there asking biased questions that most people know are ridiculous and completely misses the point of any of Mr Lynchs answers.
Truth, I bought a return from Devon to Stansted last week, I thought better to chill on the train than drive. This was probably the 2nd time I've taken a UK train as an adult. My taxes still pay for a privatised network and it's an absolute disgrace. My train was so late it terminated at Reading, I heard announcements on the the other lines of delays and cr8p excuses. I left plenty of time as a just in case and glad I did as got to the airport with minutes to spare. 4 hours of worrying I was going to miss my flight and rushing about frantically looking for ways to get there. On the way home 3 trains cancelled, then a 2 hour wait on a train to leave Paddington. The system is not fit for purpose, private companies are not fit to control the network, end of. EDIT: I am 45 and have avoided the train all my life because of the rip off prices and will continue to do so, I want my taxes back, it's criminal
That is criminal. England is meant to be a world leading business hub, it's a developed country, and an extensive railway network is, or should be, pretty much standard.
Here in Ireland the extensive railway network was dismantled and now we have two or three main lines, no regional lines, and none at all in the west past Galway. All the while the greens are in power sharing government here screeching about reducing car usage (and home fuel restrictions) without any real public transport links.
Tell how like it is Mick. The audacity of a Sky newsreader saying they aren't a mouth piece for the government is laughable. I'm a middle aged woman but I haven't been bought and paid for by Murdoch.
My ex wife is travelling from Norfolk to the north west to visit our daughter. She’s hired a car because it’s a lot cheaper and faster than the train. How that possible! We need to nationalise the railways.
Why do we never see the railway bosses being grilled on why the provide a poor service and make millions in profit... in the same way the go after Mick.. strange that eh 🤔
The presenter is in tune with the people she talks to. Yes, it is all one big club, then there are the rest of us, struggling to make ends meet whilst we sit in the cold. Very sad to see the UK becoming the country it is. The railways are in a mess, and they cost too much to use. But, they make a profit, with the help of taxpayers' subsidies. Well done Mick Lynch, very impressed at your response to all this nonsense. The Brits need a pay rise and our services need to do just that, provide a good service - so poor old Blighty can get running as it should again. Time we all valued each other, what we all do and contribute, and start working as one nation again.
@7:16 the presenter got fed up with facts and appeared to take it personally. She said she's not a government mouth piece, 😂 Clearly corrupt media and the presenter appears to be influenced by tories !
Who does this presenter think she is speaking as if she speaks on behalf of passengers? I've been a public transport user my whole life and I suppose these strikes 100%. Shame on these big companies & people prioritising their bank accounts over the services they're in charge of. And Shame on these media outlets being in their pockets.
lol u tell her Mick.....corporate mouthpiece "all the people i know" yeh a load of rich fookers with a season ticket and a car in the drive(electric of course)
He's a human being as well, I'm surprised his patience with her tone of questioning lasted as long as it did. She didn't respond well to his eventual rebuke.
Unbelievable how Sky thinks that appeasement is the best way for them to slide through this crisis - which is ten times worse because Sky and other cowed reporters are actually helping Cons. to stay in power
Why don't they ask tory ministers tough questions? Like, "Why does the uk have the most expensive electricity in the world?", or "Why is the uk economy expansion the lowest of the developed nations?", or "Why does the Financial Times refer to the uk as a poor country with some very rich people?" while showing stats that the average standard of living is below ex Warsaw Pact countries whose GDP, and indeed GDP per capita is far lower? And then why austerity has killed so many people while more than doubling inequality, and indeed national debt
Shame, I thought this presenter was (somewhat) decent at first, but then her true thoughts and intentions started slipping out, and by the end she had a full on Burley-Madeley style meltdown when it appeared like she wasn't even gonna make the governm.... Erm the case for 'the people she's talked to' in anyway stick or seem reasonable! Great job by Mick as always
i "was" an rmt member.....im a rail worker i wasnt consultated about the offer put foward....the offical word from the union was that the "exuctive commite"- whatever that means turned down the offer............without any consultation from members....soooo despite the fact we pay in to the union we actually didnt have a say on the last offer !!!!
