It’s much better than berhalter but he needs to get the players to step up and get the best talent in not just on jersey names on back. Get new young players in and get them experience.
So much Berhalter hate ! Yet he has the best winning % of any USMNT coach in history. That being said I'm excited we have someone who is used to coaching at a higher level.
"Win. Win the World Cup. I don't want to be nice to the fans. I don't want to be nice to the players. We want to win this World Cup, a special World Cup." Finally. A manager who says what we have all wanted to hear.
we don’t need to win it all for the WC campaign to be successful,,,like when Germany hosted they got eliminated but it changed alot for the nation

The USA is currently ranked 16th in the world. To have a realistic chance of winning the World Cup, we'll need to improve our ranking into the top six. That means rising above Switzerland, Morocco, Germany, Croatia, Uruguay, Italy, Colombia, Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium. The USA is currently on a downward trajectory.
HE'S MAGIC YOU KNOOOOOOOOW! MAURICIO POCHETTINOOOOOO! HE'S MAGIC YOU KNOOOOOOOOW! MAURICIO POCHETTINOOOOOO! HE'S MAGIC YOU KNOOOOOOOOW! MAURICIO POCHETTINOOOOOO! If you don't use this, please and thank you Spurs fans, you don't deserve him!
Gotta admit I love seeing this guy here. I hope USS gives him the tools he needs to change the culture. We need young kids to feel comfortable with the ball from 6, 7, 8 years of age. Let's fucking go!!!
"We need the right amount of arrogance in our team" something the Argentinian National Team constantly strides for, as a Colombian, I see it every time we play against them, and guess what...They are world champions. The US cannot only match that mentality but improve it with American values! I am very hopeful about this project! Vamos Poche!
Everything I’ve heard from this interview and others is that Poch is a real guy who loves the game, not a propped up corporate agent. Huge respect for the guy, will be very attentive to our progress. He seems like a great guy to get a beer with too, don’t know if he drinks, but still… USA, here we go!
"We need to dream. We are going to win the cup." THAT IS IT!! Set the goal, a dream and then you work toward it with the game plan and winning methodology. We can dream. NOW WE WORK TOWARDS THAT DREAM.
I’ve never been to a USMNT game before, but I’m going to my first one ever in Austin to watch this team play under Poch! Can’t wait to watch a new era unfold.
Are you a true fan I guess by not being there at a live game is not bad but I hope you still supported them even though we have been bad for a while. We need to change this now as our country is hungry and this is the one sport we need to win something big in.
I'm VERY VERY excited for Poch. Now very important, give him time. Let him shake up the lineups and shake our best players some, because they are so God damn comfortable that they will get to start every game no matter how they play.
I’m so excited. Let’s give this group as much positive energy as possible. We will never get a chance to change the game in this country like we will in 2026. We need to make America fall in love with soccer. This is a great first step towards this.

The average American knows almost nothing about soccer.
After watching this interview just now I’m getting tickets and booking my flight to Texas for a little mini vacation. I’m hoping the stands are full and electric!! 🇺🇸
It’s unbelievable to me that it has taken two foreigners (Emma and Mauricio) to remind America of its true capacity. It’s sad, but hopefully the message is heard and we push ourselves beyond our capacity to achieve something special. LFG!!!!
"We need to see all that produce this country." I loved this inspirational statement from Poch, and I love that Poch is starting with mentality. He gets it.
Fantastic interview and congrats on being the first! So stoked about MP!! If any player isn’t ready to run thru a brick wall for USMNT, then on to the next one!!
I know this man is going to take US soccer to the next level. This is exactly what we have needed, a strong coach who will bring out the best in our players and give fans hope.
He finally said what I’ve been wanting to hear from a coach for the United States men’s national soccer team my whole entire life and I am 55 years old. Win he said, win the World Cup. That is the mentality that every soccer player that comes in the United States to play needs to have come into the game you want to win the World Cup I am very excited. I love the way he sounds inspiring. Makes me wanna pick up a soccer ball and start playing again, but I would probably pull a hamstring or something like that at my age😂😂😂😂
Let's go!!! These next few years we have a rare chance to really transform the status of soccer in America forever! Thanks for giving it a shot Poch 💪🏼
Potchittino is amazing. It's quite refreshing to hear this from a coach managing the USMNT. Welcome to the United States of America Maurichio Pochettino and family.
Night and day compared to Berhalter. Pochettino speaks from the heart, he’s truly genuine. Berhalter was a Salesman who pitched a lot of fantasy instead of reality
You have to work hard and play hard and listen and have good coaches to win as well as players. Many many professional sports teams in USA that did this know this to be true. If you want it you go take it. Finally a coach who has great international experience and has coached good quality players and teams. This is new ground for USA. Now we wait and see. Improvement is what we need to see quarterfinals and or semifinals is the next step. Winning World Cup even at home will be very difficult because he doesn’t have much time. I accept improvement and getting better is the start where Canada and Mexico cannot beat us and we best European teams is that improvement. Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!!
What a breath of fresh air. Going from “Change the way the world thinks about American soccer” to “Win the World Cup”. Is it really realistic? Who cares!?!? Dream Big!!!!
I love the idea that Poch has proven himself most when given a group of young upcoming players. There is legitimately not a better hire for this team. So exciting. I can’t wait to see all of our guys play this weekend and know that he is watching too.
That was absolutely fantastic. I see how this guy has had all these high level jobs now. What boss could possibly interview this guy and then even bother TALKING to anyone else!
Look it may be because of how he was prepped by the media/PR team, but I think it's a fantastic sign how much he said the word "believe." A core foundation for this team and this country. If he can't get the best out of these players, I don't think many can.
I'm liking what I see. And hear. This man is going to take USMNT to a new level, no doubt. More importantly, he is going to inspire countless young people - 12 year old boys, and 14 year old girls, that America can compete on the world stage with anyone.
Yes, that is a very important point. We have the athletes here in America to take football to a new level, but the popularity and commercialism of the other sports pulls them away. If Poch can inspire the next generation to choose football over the other sports, then that is when we will see the US take the next step. It would be a wonderful thing to see.
I love what Poch said about looking to the women to find the belief that we can win against anyone. What Emma Hayes did was incredible, somehow molding a committed, cohesive, Olympic champion team after only a couple months. They should definitely serve as inspiration to our guys. :)
I really hope we keep this guy for a long time he seems like a amazing person and coach we needed something like this for years and probably even decades am very excited for what’s going to happen I really hope they don’t f this up like they did this summer it was embarrassing
I have NEVER felt this optimistic about the USMNT. We have the players with the talent and now we have the world class coach. The only thing missing is the winning mentality.
Rog, I don't know if you realize this, but you are actually the face of US Soccer for so many of us. Our 1SG Carwood Lipton, holding things together during the winter of Bastogne. Courage
