Yes it's a rivalry since they're hardly are any. I went to the embiid and jokic game and they hardly guarded each other. The old days were better when stars would guard each other. Edwards ain't scared to guard anyone he wants to. There are hardly superstars who are like that and I love it

Is this not a great finals matchup? Boston is way more mature than Minnesota right now. Tatum doesn’t make the mental errors that Edwards is prone to but Edwards is HIM. He’s 22 and doing a lot of great things. Just needs to be more of a facilitator in crunch time when he draws help and double teams.

If so, a dominate backcourt for Boston, Wolves with multiple scoring options....but that Wolves defense is stifling. So if they can both get there, it's going to be great basketball again. And to me, this will show WHO is the true champ at heart: Ant or Tatum. If Tatum loses? Etch him out of the greatest book. Put Ant in his place. He's already doing what players at his age in the league has never done before.

As a wolves fan I want to see a wolves celtics finals. The only 2 games they get to play each other in the season. Both went into OT and both won at their respective home. 1st in the west in the majority of the season vs the 1st in the east in the majority of the season. Who wouldn't want that

In the second matchup, Ant was off the 2nd night of a back to back, without Mike Conley AND Rudy Gobert, and still guided the Wolves to go toe to toe with Boston, even as 10.5 point dogs. Oh, and the Wolves plane had issues so they didn't get into Boston from Orlando until early on gameday. In the 2 games, it shows that at 22, the 3 year younger Edwards is already matching up with the 25 year old Tatum. ANT: 33.5 pts, 7.5 reb, 5.0 assists. +17 on 52/36/91 Tatum: 38.5 pts, 4.5 reb, 2.0 assists, +6 on 52/42/86 Both are elite, Tatum has 3 more years and in in prime, was not missing 2 starters, and was not coming off a back to back with plane trouble getting to the city at noon on gameday. And yet Ant still almost guided them to the first win by anyone in Boston, even with everything working against him. Odd that the major thing that was forgotten to mention.. Not only were the Wolves not as good as the Celtics before this year. Tatum STARTED these matchups at nearly older then Ant is currently. Tatum turns 26 in early March, while Edwards isn't 23 until early August. Tatum is almost 3.5 years older then Edwards. Last question.. why are we comparing Ant and Tatum in the first place? Tatum is a 6-8 SF/PF while Ant is 6-4 and a SG. The proper comparison in these matchups would be Brown.

I will say this. Ant looked off in the fourth and ot of that game. I wasn't sure if it was because of the injury he picked up in the previous game against Orlando, or if it was just the back to back wearing down on him, but either way he looked off. The turnover he had where he through it away to jrue seemed like a tired mistake. He was bricking shots, and didn't seem like he was getting as high off the bounce as he normally does. Who knows though... Maybe Boston was just playing lockdown defense.

As a neutral fan of a poverty franchise, I can say that I would take Tatum 10 out of 10 times over ANT. Not a knock on ANT, I'd gladly take him too. But if I'm starting a franchise from scrach and get to pick between those two players its going to be Tatum without hesitation and I think most franchises would do the same. Even Minnesota even though they would never admit it.

Brown v Ant is the matchup, Tatum plays the 4 in Boston's system, and only comes in contact with Ant on switches. Brown is the one who locked Ant up in the last game, and each guy is the only one on the other team who can keep up athletically.

Idk personal opinion but JT kinda crumbles under pressure (in the playoffs). He doesn’t feel like the MJ style de fecto leader of his team. He’s like a great iso player without real leadership. Ant on the other hand feels like ‘that’ guy. I mean he’s young so it’s just starting to really flourish for him. But he feels like the de fecto franchise cornerstone. JT is an elite player but it seems like he’s not the most comfortable in a leadership position. I think that’s why the Celtics are so good this year. They have a bunch of superstars (their starting 5 is insane. Props to Celtics gm for figuring that out) and they can gel and be successful without JT having to be the full leader- which is something that doesn’t quite fit him.

Damn this is crazy, I always liked tatum since 2017 when he got drafted and took over for Gordon Hayward after Hayward twisted his ankle.....Anthony Edwards been a favorite back when he was still honing his skills like 2-3 years ago, always saw his potential.
