Thoughts usually come from things we’ve heard from ppl, so in that regard, they are not our own, therefore not our true identity. Further, thoughts can also be regrets (which is thinking about the past) or anxiety (which is thinking about the future) which pulls you from the present. The only reality is the present, and thoughts deceive you to pull you from the present. The idea of “don’t listen to the thoughts” is to keep you in the present.

It means learning to shut down everything in your thoughts . Having control over thoughts. Stop over thinking .

I finally got this recently. We are to “pray without ceasing”, and stop idolizing ourselves. (Which is what happens when we are stuck in our heads)

Because if you sit still for long enough through everything you think and all the physical pain then eventually “you” will disappear and you’ll see that your identity was an illusion
