i‘ve had several people at inpatient treatment tell me exactly that… „oh, i wish i was anorexic. then i could finally lose weight.“. it got to the point where the nurses had to talk to specific patients bc these comments would trigger me A LOT. anorexia is something i wish upon nobody! it’s hell. it‘s not a silly little diet! it‘s a complex mental illness that costs lots of people their lifes. there’s a reason why it‘s literally the mental disorder with the highest mortality rate…
Well said, and so necessary. The biggest decision I would change if I could, in 60 yrs on the planet, is that severe restriction I started at 17 years old. My body is broken beyond repair, teeth fall out or break at random, my heart rate and blood pressure are shot, I have no ability to regulate my body temperature, and have been disabled because of chronic illnesses/conditions that are a direct or indirect result of my eating disorder. I've been on the planet for a long time, and THAT is the biggest regret. I'm still struggling to get up to minimum intake- on the way to more than I've ever eaten in my life. I was primed for anorexia when I was 6- my mom paid me to lose weight when I wasn't fat. Our family ate a restricted 'diet'. I'm in a larger body, with the damage of someone who "looks" like they have an ED. I've been in energy deficit for over 45 years.

After 35 years of suffering from severe Anorexia with binge / purge subtype ( in my case my bmi was too Low to be classed as bulimic ) and my upper teeth have all rotted and fallen out then how the SHEER HELL can you say you wish you were an Anorexic
