What is a twiddle (fidget/sensory) muff (mitt/cuff)? They are made from crocheted, knitted, or tubed fabric with lots of different textures and bits and pieces attached inside and out, such as ribbons, buttons, and beads. As well as keeping the hands warm, twiddle muffs are used to ease agitation and calm persons with dementia. They help keep restless hands and minds occupied, encouraging movement and brain stimulation. Interested in crocheting/knitting for charity? There are no real rules when making twiddle muffs, as long as the colors are bright, and interesting textures are added. They can be as many rows of as many different yarns as desired.
