Because the combat is apart of every game. It isn't avoidable, and it isn't fun. As for the story, I'd have to disagree there too. I think it comes across as really pretentious and I wish the whole memories thing would have never been apart of the franchise. Exploring is definitely the best part, but given that every game has the exact same idea of exploration, (Climbing / Sailing massive empty worlds) that too has gotten old. They need to introduce new mechanics to the game that go beyond very slight updates to what's already there. The last time we saw that was Assassin's Creed III with naval combat.

@@21StaticXXSaint13 I mostly ignore the modern day story but the historical stuff I find interesting. As for variety, I've only really played 2, Black Flag and Origins and each is different enough in gameplay, mechanics and setting to not really feel too similar. The combat does suck but I don't mind it. If I want challenge I play Dark Souls

@@K1LLeRc0ck I've played 1, 2, 3, Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag and Unity. (I also play on PC, which as TB points out, are generally terrible ports) The settings are nice, and that goes for most Ubisoft games. They're interesting and aside from 1, 2, Brotherhood and Revelations, they are pretty varied. I wouldn't mind the combat as much if it were toned down or completely optional. I think Assassin's Creed could use a drastic stealth overhaul more than anything to support quiet playstyles

@@21StaticXXSaint13 The pc ports, which are what I play too, are generally very bare bones and poorly optimized. That is a fact that has stayed true until Origins which worked great. Yeah, the combat is overly emphasized and the games would be better off with a huge overhaul to that aspect. Still, I stand behind my original comment. The combat, while simplistic and poor, isn't in my opinion enough to really detract from the great aspects. I think it also helps that I don't play every one of them but the ones with enough new to not feel tired.

It is too easy honestly I’m glad it changed, I could walk up to any amount of enemies in black flag and kill them all without taking any damage, not because I’m good but because all you needed to do was press b and then x

And me! Pc was just FAR to much unnecessary bollocks just for some marginally better graphics. The whole thing was ridiculous, from storefronts to ports. Fuck it, console now all the way from here on out.
