The Prophet 6 has such a unique sound, to my ears it has the most "acoustic" tone of any synth and tones similar to an electro-mechanical or transistor organ on shrooms. Can sound otherworldly sometimes.
As a prophet 6 owner and as someone who has listened to almost every demo of this synth I would have to say that, in my opinion, the sounds and patches by Jexus are the best/most interesting that I have heard since it's release. Great stuff.
I totally remember watching your weird ass soviet synth (im from estonia, so i encountered a lot of them aswell :) demos from over 15y ago, and being enchanted by the weird taste, that I've later learned became a worldwide thing actually.. Really lovely that you're still active, all the best to you!!
These are your best sounds out of all your modern synth demos, hands down. I've played a lot of the newer keyboards person, and I've read all of your write-ups. And yes, I can understand that the Prophet 6 is a lot of money, and the architecture can be limiting. But these sounds hit the bullseye for me. It does not sound like a Virtual Analog to me, whereas the Novation Peak and Summit do have a plastic sort of VA quality in my opinion. I've listened to all your demos objectively, trying to put aside any opinions I previously had of the gear. This P6 demo varies all over the place, going in so many different directions - but all those directions sound great. The ASM Hydrasynth is a close second place, just for the uniqueness and breadth of timbres available. They would make a great combo. The effects are an integral part of the P6, and you made excellent use of them. It's not just trying to be an "old school" Prophet, it is a Prophet evolved. Well done, and thanks for all the work you put into your videos and patch libraries.

I do really agree with you write up on on the 6. I have many of the same frustrations with the limitations (I wish the FX weren’t the way they are) and often ponder selling my p6 and getting a UDO super 6 instead. However I can’t help but feel it’s in one of those happy limitation spots. Like I can get it to go some interesting places but when I’m on dark and foggy as hell stage I always know what knob I’m grabbing. And not having to pack a delay/reverb pedal is nice. And who knew it could do bass!? I never really bothered cause I have Junos and a Moogs kicking around. Thanks as always for the impressive demo planning on picking up these patches.
True. Synth's interface is a huge factor. I've had synths that were 20 times more powerful than the Prophet-6 but if their interface was bad, I just didn't have the strength or the patience to go on and utilize that potential.
Every time I think about selling my Prophet 6 to get a Prophet 5 I'm quickly reminded how much more versatile the P6 is and how many features I would be missing. I'd rather a synth that can go to 11 and dial it back if I wish rather than something that I have to add additional external devices to make it go to 11.
Anyone trying to decide between an OB-6 or a Prophet 6 should listen to your patches as a way to make a decision, as they show the full scope of their capabilities and sound. And the winner for me is...OB-6😅
i dont mean any offense here, but i never heard a jexus demo that sounded good. he seems to be extremely popular, but i have seen much better demos. its true that most are bad in general, but there are now a lot of people making synth demos and some are very good
Some people like to live in peace while some like pain, BDSM and stuff. That's just life, so no offence taken. The only thing nagging me is this: you must have seen many of my demos to come up with the realization that they all sound bad. Then why do you keep coming back?
Jexus has non mainstream tastes, this much is clear. Personally I find his demos inspiring, if not humbling. He always seems to get timbres out of synths I never would have expected from that model. I prefer his style of demo over the typical uns uns techno jam preceded by 5 minutes of aimless babbling.
