I know it sounds nuts, but I find giving my goats warm water to drink, especially at night, makes them drink more. Mine walk away from water with electrolytes. The birds will drink with Sav-a-Chick, but I mist them all (read: hose them down) whether they like it or not.
I like to freeze raw chicken eggs in cupcake tins so I can pop them out and feed them frozen back to the chicken during this heatwave. I'm located near you in Northeast Washington. I hope everyone survised!
Yes! I just got in from doing that and I also am trying to regularly hose down the soil in the areas I am finding them congregating. These silly birds don't seem to understand I am trying to help! lol
