i just want you to know that writing spice is embarassing as hell, and theres no shame in that! dont be afraid to work up the courage to do it in later drafts! in a personal project ive been working on (several novellas) i kept wanting to include spice, but i never felt brave enough to write it (and I'm still not there yet), and i've just been editing it several times to make it a *little* spicier each time, and this is on a project no one else will ever see (except google i guess). if that isn't what youre planning on doing already, i highly recommend it

7:22 It is harder. When I started university, I just knew that I was going to be moving to Japan, starting a career in radio and being a super OP creative that's dabbled in a bit of everything. But then I got friends, made connections, and the idea of just uprooting myself and starting all over again from ground zero felt less and less appealing. Then I graduated, and I ended up staying in the US. I think I made the right decision with that one. (For the record, I still do plan on being a super OP creative that's dabbled in a bit of everything, but I don't need to move to a whole other country to do that.)
I totally understand what you mean about traveling as you get older... I definitely don't have that anymore LOL I love two cats and my cozy home so much. I can't wait to read Moths in the future and that GOTHIC ROMANTASY!!!

Hey Lynn! I've also lived abroad a couple of times (Australia and New Zealand). I had a bit of a different experience as I didn't start travelling until my late 20s/early 30s and I'm not particularly close to my family. But I wanted to tell you that it's 100% okay for you to be homesick and just feel like going home. I never felt that way, but I know plenty of people who have and it's okay. Don't feel bad about it. Just because others are having a good time doesn't mean everyone has the same experience. Cut yourself some slack and just try and enjoy it as much as possible. You'll be home before you know it!

Yes, I still write fanfic about my favorite TV ship because they are that trope (to me anyway, they never actually got together cuz the show got cancelled). YES, PLEASE, ENEMIES TO LOVERS VIDEO!! 🥰😍 You got so much done with MOTHS and your Gothic romantasy sounds so sexy and riveting! I know what you mean about querying. I’m still waiting on some more beta feedback before I write/revise again (4th draft)-but I’m also excited to get my story out there and query because at least that means the story is getting out there (even if there are rejections). You can’t cold query in screenwriting, lol (that’s a conversation for another day). 2024 is the year we’re gonna query our Adult fantasy novels! Woo-hoo! I know I’ve said this before, but I love your comps! My comps for my novel are Sarah Gailey’s MAGIC FOR LIARS and Hulu’s ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING (for the TV pilot version I swap out MAGIC FOR LIARS and use Netflix’s RAISING DION as a comp instead). 🥰 Have fun with your travels and I hope you have a safe trip home! Sounds like a solid structure. Sorry to hear that the year in France back in your youth got soured. Paris can be a bit overrated, but it still could've been good. And I know how it feels to spend a year in a good place without the healthy mindset to appreciate it.
