Great review Mark and as a 701 owner, can confirm that you are correct in all areas. I've had mine for 18 months, 6000 miles and still love it. Am 10 track daysin, lots of slow cluises, supermarket trips with my children on the back etc, it's done it all. Really good bike to ride not worry about as the bodywork is very cheap if you slide off it. Should be more of these on the road😉😉
@@socialising6037 You have to remove the black plastic heel guards and then the footpegs king of replace them. It's very easy whereas fitting the grab handles is a bit awkward as you have to drill the plastics with a16mm flat drill. I do loads of trips with my sons on board for school runs, supermarket runs, dropping off at his pal's houses. Its a family bike that gets used for al sorts as well as hooning around.
@@willgarrod9907 I didnt even know you could put rear foot pegs on it, was a deal breaker for that reason as wanted to be able to take passengers. Going to have to find one to have a test ride have literally just sold my ktm excf 350 today and was set on a yamaha mt07. Cheers for the reply
Great review. Every detail anyone could want: ergonomics, low speed fuelling, how slow you can go in top gear, gearbox, brakes. Truly great engine. I'd love one.
Good work! I've watched loads of your reviews but never seen you giggling before! I bought a new one in 2020 and I've done similar mods to mine. The styling remains but they gradually refine the bike, I think 2021 model has monobloc front caliper, LED headlight, USB charger & rev counter. The 'tail tidy' is what remains when you remove the big mudguard.
At 5ft7 myself, got to admit i went straight to the side shot and paused it. It's exactly what i expect to look on one of these. Love the look of these bikes but exactly something id never hook a leg over at a dealers. It would be embaressing or do myself an injury lol
Great review Mark, I have 2020 701SM and you're nailed it :) One question, how do you manage to find neutral so easy? it looks like you're playing with the clutch a bit, pulling or releasing, i can't tell
Hi thanks 👍 The box on this one was very slick ... didn't have any problems finding neutral.. maybe your cable adjustment??? Just a thought Cheers mark
Great review mate 👌🌝 I have a 2017 triumph street triple 675R and literally just bought a 2022 husky 701 supermoto and oooooooh my days how good is the husky 🫶👌🌝
@@markpulling12 mine being the 675R the engine is amazing with lots of torque so the 765 is gonna be the bit more special! And oh boy that triple grown is addictive 💯👌 Have a great ride buddy 🙏
@@markpulling12 I can't do without a rev counter. I like to do the first 15 minutes at no more than half revs to make sure the engine is fully warmed up. I spend at least three months in Portugal a year, so I am planning on selling my two bikes there and getting one of these.
@@markpulling12 Indeed, Mark. There are both dealers close to where I have a condo. I just like the look of the 701 slightly more, but it doesn't really make a difference. I will just stick with my 390 Duke in Thailand. It is fast enough for these roads.
I'd love one of those, but it would just bring out the total hooligan, which is great fun, but I like having a license. Be a beast of a laugh on track days or for motogymkhana though.
@Peter Alexander 47hp? What you talking about? The 701 makes a LOT more than 47hp, and comparing it to a bmw650gs is ludicrous. The bmw is a mild mannered all rounder, the 701 is much more focussed. But hey, each to their own.
Mark, What kind of bike is this? It looks like an off-road trail bike. But with those road racing tires it would be a disaster off-road. I gather this has been changed from stock to suit the owner's taste for off-road lightness and agility for on-road riding. Gord
Hi Gord ....no not changed at all ...it's a class of its own called a supermoto ...they have been arround for a while,I think they evolved from track racing with light dirt sections thrown in ...they come standard with the road tyres they are a lot of fun on the road and they do make Enduro versions with semi knobbly tyres Many thanks Mark :)
@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark. I wasn't aware of the super moto class. I had heard of it... but didn't understand what it was. Thanks for explaining!:) Gord
Just about as much fun as you can have on 2 wheels every ride is a masterclass in riding like a maniac unless you have incredible amounts of self control !
Great bikes until you need to go on a motorway then they are not great at all! Can’t beat them I’m the twistys and countryside tho! Also they don’t like traffic, run very hot
Imagine if Maico Mstar was still around. They wouldn't bat an eye at building a bike with a near 40" seat height! I have a 32" inseam, but I would still lower this bike if I were to purchase it.
Impressive performance don't like the styling nor the tank at the back and the seat looks awful probably good fun to ride for a short time, I think I would look for a better looking version than this one sorry .Good review though as per Mark cheers : )
excuse me sir, spoked supermotos get Avon trail riders or shinko705s for proper off-roading. it's not track day buddy you don't need them slicks. hitting jumps in people's backyards to piss of the locals is part of the supermoto game here buddy you can't just stick to pavement xD
