Greetings, Mark. Currently owning this model for almost 2 years in CFMOTO’s motherland, China. Though it have plenty of designing problems, like high center of gravity, horrible UI design & interact logic and lack of electronic assistance, it’s still a great bike for it’s value. It rides smoothly and powerful, that’s the core of motorcycle experience right? And it’s super comfortable for long distance travel. For those who are interested in this model I highly suggest you to wait for the Explore version which I consider is the full version of this model platform, with new dashboard, new hand switches, rear radar system and most importantly TCS. Many details optimized too. And it stays almost the same price(even cheaper in Chinese market). BTW, I just came back from your lovely beautiful country. Traveled in the United Kingdom for a whole month (a pity not on motorcycle) and you guys really have an excellent riding environment and atmosphere. The roads, the traffic, the landscapes and the weather, all perfect for motorcycle traveling. I do hope one day I could enjoy riding a bike on Great Britain Island. Best wishes.
I think CF Moto and Zontes are leading the Chinese pack in terms of quality. In 5 years time they will be up there in terms of mainstream quality. Nice to hear from an owner and glad you liked the UK. Need to come back for some biking and fish followed by fish and chips on the seafront!
@@mikehorton8603 CFMOTO is doing great both domestic and overseas. Probably the best motorcycle company of China and their cooperation with KTM made a great success. Actrually, Zontes is not that popular in Chinese market, they have bikes with a lot of features at a low price, but this comes with issues of reliability(in China, overseas models have better quality😅). They don't have bigger capacity engines, and many of their models looks emmm...weird. But I'm happy they put efforts on overseas markets and you guys liked it. Definitely going back to UK in the future. I left so many things unexperienced and places unexplored. It's a great country and I love it.
Moto economica con telaio acciaio, forcellone alluminio, motore tutto ktm, forcella e mono kayaba, centralina bosch, cosa vedi di economico o cinese di questa moto??🤔🤔🤷♂️
Those bikes reminds me of the old super ténéré, they, IMHO, try to compete with GS/RT and target people wishing for a road bike with a trailbike look. The equipment list is long as a day without bread (tire pressure sensors, steering damper, centre stand...) The engine they build for KTM is sure well known and shouldn't be a trouble for the owners. It may be just a bit too sporty for the spirit with its torque at 8000rpm. In France they come with a 5 year warranty (not sure in the UK). I just don't understand why the cruise control only operate on some gears (4th and up) and only from 40kph to 130kph... I guess they don't target germans :D
Nicely spec Ed, lovely sound, and decent amount poke, whats not to like. Still wouldn’t buy because of backup and dealers. But bike right up my liking street. Only lacks electronic suspension which personally I don’t want. Heated seats/grips and cruise yes please
Great review Mark, I really like this bike but I’m waiting for the Benelli TRK 702/800 which I thought would be released by now? Be interesting to put them up against each other!! Do Poole Moto have any details about the Benelli’s yet as they would be my local dealer?? Thanks Mark.
Great review Mark, that's a very well specd bike, I wish all manufacturers would take note, cruise control and tubeless tyres, take note Honda for your next gen transalp.
Nice to see 9k service intervals on a Chinese bike on the whole they are far too short so what you save on purchase will potentially go in the sump in service costs!
The spec of this bike at such a reasonable price puts all other manufacturers to shame. As a comparison Tiger 900 GT Pro 14k currently also with luggage inc. This bike deserves to do well, good to see they’ll now have a reasonable dealer network too. Thanks Mark 👍
This bike doesn’t get that good reviews in CN market,I live there,it does have problems.A subpar replacement for a Honda bike or something.Btw In China one Tiger800 price can buy 3 Cf800MT,so think twice before buying, good luck
As a tiger 900 gt pro owner I tend to agree with you, Although I was never a lover of any thing made in china but when you hear 🎉that CF Moto are now part of KTM and also I believe are now involved with Yamaha they must be upping their game on Quality and reliability from years gone by and with all the bells n whistles for the price seem very competitive and with good service intervals especially 18 thousand miles for valve checks as am presently saving up to put my tiger in for the big service and valve clearances at 12 thousand miles 😢although I love my triumph it does make you think your paying a big premium for a name 🤔so if your not bothered about a name brand these bikes may be an option to save a few grand and I think once they more established they could be a rival to the bigger name brands, love em or hate em it must only be a good thing for the bike market as more choice must make for more competition prices
Interesting, thanks. It sounds like fundamentally a good bike, but I wonder why we have so many 'faux' adventure bikes around these days....apart from fashion, of course! All these bikes like this CFMoto and the new Transalp are almost never going to go off road, but are afflicted by several 'adventure' features like hard to clean wire wheels, knobbly-ish tyres and the obligatory tin boxes on the back. These are actually good road bikes - far more practical than sporty bikes, but why can't we have something similar, but as a pure road bike without having to pretend that you are going to go round the world on them?? btw those panniers look irritating - they make the bike wide, but don't seem wide enough to get anything very useful in them!
I have a few minor questions for owners of this bike. Does the control panel have indictator and hazard warning light reminder, can you still see the panel with brilliant sunshine glare on it, does the engine heat go direct to your legs like another reviewer in the US stated, can you add a GPS app to the control screen?
i don't like adv bikes AT ALL ,, but your reviews give every bike a fair chance and i have to say - this bike is the complete package , and if i was in the market for another bike this would at the top ;;; - good pedigree motor and all the kit ;;
Just bought a 23 leftover ibex 800t..13,899, no luggage was on it in the showroom so I assumed it was extra. on the day I drove it home they had the luggage on it, and said it was part of the package, I left as fast as possible !! Smiled all the way home, mostly because of the sound the motor makes when it starts to..'honk' 👍👍
Mark, I'm a big fan of your reviews. 2 years ago I purchased a Tiger900LR. In South Carolina I paid $18,000 with taxes and extras like center stand. No panniers or topcase. Yesterday I met a man who just purchased this CF Moto for $10,800. And it was loaded, plus panniers and top box. I am giving this a serious look. I traded my tiger for a Bonne and then sold it. So I'm hunting another bike.
The set button gets you into the menus. The pressing and holding the up or down arrows will cycle you through the diff menu option like Bluetooth, heated grips modes bike info etc. same happened to me when I rode it. It’s a down side to have to press so many buttons to change modes and heated grips. But you really can’t beat the price for the features. Def a fantastic lite adventure bike/sports tourer/commuter. Does everything. Great review. One of the better ones on a demo ride. Probably the best I’ve seen. You hit all The points
I don’t like the idea of going into the tft menu to activate the heated grips. Wonder what the resale value of this bike will be in twelve months and a few thousand miles ?
Dedicated buttons would be nice but the tft really is no different then your tv remote..looks daunting at first, but becomes very easy to fathom once you use it a week !
Yet again Mark you have given us another superb review,I’m an NC750X owner & this machine is a very tempting proposition. Totally amazing Value for Money that at the moment no other manufacturer can match, only issue for me is there are no dealers nearby. ☹️
@@mikehorton8603 your absolutely spot on Mike about the NC,it’s a Great bike particularly in DCT form as it just makes sense. Perhaps I can’t see the wood for the tree’s here & should remain loyal to the cause. But the CFmoto MT800 is so tempting just for the VFM,only issues I can think of is how reliable will it be,parts and servicing. Not to mansion the dreaded depreciation also.
@@michaeljohndelmundo4741Have you still got the bike? Have you had any issues? I’m in The Philippines too and am considering one of these , a VStrom 800 DE or Ténéré 700 for touring the islands. Just have questions about the reliability . No doubt it’s a bargain though.
@TripleB6036 still got mine. Still going strong. Still the best bang for your ADV bike here in the philippines IMHO. What kind of riding will you be doing?
@@michaeljohndelmundo4741I’m planning on touring, mainly roads, perhaps the odd unfinished road/track . Based in Cebu but want to travel all the islands.
Some of political comments here are a bit absurd and silly, the amount of parts used in every motorcycle/car/household goods that are made in China is huge ,, cfmoto are a Chinese company that build Chinese "stuff" ,, bmw are a German company that use Chinese "stuff" in their vehicles, just like honda Yamaha Suzuki etc etc,, the industrial Chinese world are who they are because we (the rest of the world) buy their "stuff" ,, without china we'd have very little in our homes,, how many items are made in the uk or usa or Europe anymore???? ,, ..
An excellent review Mark! Good test route, mixture of roads and speeds. Walk round, talk through features etc and your audio was good quality which goes to prove the air pocket you did you were sat behind that screen that you described. Definitely a contender for my next bike and Puig does a nice tall touring screen
You should set up filming of the bike passing by. Good stuff, 3 electrical plugs that’s quite a loaded bike. Anything priced like that is a bargain but this bike is actually Euro-nice.
Hi Mark thank you once again, a really good review. On the span adjustable levers, may worth just a bit more info, on the actual span variation. My hands are glove size medium, but I still find I need my clutch lever at its nearest the bar setting.... So yes it's adjustabke, but only if you have larger hands if that makes sense.
Hi, great review as ever. This bike looks fantastic and the Explore version has the radar on to have blind spot recognition etc. Not sure how this make fairs in winter riding and left out side under cover and used daily, thinking about rust and electrics etc
Hi mark nice video, I’m half way through but had to break off. Random question. I’ll be visiting hengistbury head soon, I’m thinking of following family down a couple of days later and using the bike. Thinking out loud I was toying with paying a bike shop to store it as there isn’t anyplace secure where I’m staying. Any ideas of places that may be forthcoming ?
Mark, how does this new incarnation of the 790 engine compare to our 790 dukes, i assume you still own yours.... apparently its got a 20% heavier flywheel, also that quickshifter seems to work so much better, i wonder if we can get ours re calibrated so they work just as good, or is that also a characteristic of the new engine.....ps still love my hunter..... i enjoy your reviews
Hi it feels very similar....but in being in the heavier bike doesn't feel quite a fast and it has more of a roar from the air box....I've had my 790 duke remapped by j33 and it's way better than before or this engine in the cfmoto now Best regards mark
This engine was very problematic for KTM with major failures.Oil pressure the culprit but the Chinese have resolved the issue.Needs a remapping here in OZ and C spanner for rear shock otherwise good value especially 2nd hand as huge depreciation factor
As a new Hornet owner I really hope you review the new CFMOTO NK as its the same price unlike the 8s or 790duke that are at least a grand more. As it also uses the same engine as the 790duke it might be worth saving money and buying the NK instead.🤞you get to try one.
seems that it is excellent bike. Pretty new. We'll see after long distance tests. Thanks. I hope we will see more from you about CF Moto (700 Heritage or Adventure)pls
Nice bike, just wonder how it will hold up in winter weather…any thoughts? Also, and this is either a stupid oversight of deliberate, why no traction control. It has got an IMU and cornering ABS so the hardware is there. Not a real deal breaker but come on CFmoto just activate it with a software update!
hi have a cb500f on a 22 plate looking to upgrade either to the 650mt or the 800mt i'm 51 on a full licence my son has a tiger 660 sport i'm on tip toe on that with would you suggest ?
Hi they are both similar seat heights i think ...im 5 ft 7 30 inch inseam and can get the balls of my feet down on this as the seat isnt too wide ...you may find you are ok on the cfmoto failing that you could get it lowered 30mm best wishes mark
I rode one of these about a year ago here in the US. I have it on my short list as a possible addition to the stable. Appreciate your reviews, keep it up 👍🏾
You obviously liked it. But my problem is this, it’s made by a company in a country with a government who regularly cyber attacks the UK on a regular basis and we could easily be at war with at anytime soon (if they attack Taiwan). There is also zero copyright laws in china and many companies just clone western products (although I understand this is not the case with cfmoto). On that basis, I try not to give too much money to Chinese companies if I possibly can avoid it, although due to the west blindly handing virtually all manufacturing to China, is very difficult.
Just watched this again. More sophisticated than the Benelli in today's review? Do you think there is any chance that you will review a CFMoto 800NK, Mark? I have a preference for the basic one. It is only 6,999 GBP in GB. Nick J
This is good value if you can get on with the looks. 435-degree firing order? A slip up, I assume. It certainly goes well. Good review, Mark. 1990 [Nick J]
Thanks nick There's a 435-degree firing interval, designed to emulate the firing order of KTM's big V-twins, with a crank pin offset of 75 degrees. The engine has a DOHC, eight-valve head, with one spark plug per cylinder. Best regards mark
I like this, reminds me of the Africa twin, which I love, love the colour of the wheels, great tech... Why don't ktm market this as their own. Great review Mark 💯❤️
Hi Martine... thanks...I guess it's because they already do the KTM 790 adventure which is similar to this maybe ...,? X cfmoto just use their engine 😁 x
@@pierb2848 I'm hoping its detuned a bit for a better reliability record..lots mention the ktm's 790 flaws..but fail to mention ktm wins the most gruelling race of the year..year after year after year..can you say DAKAR !
I test rode one of these. I found the quality as per Mark’s review. The one I rode didn’t have a quick shifter (or it wasn’t working) - clutch was easy to use however. Personally I found the fuelling appalling (even in rain mode). Even at constant highway speeds the bike was lurching back and forth. As Mark says definitely worth a test ride - the one I had could have been a Friday afternoon bike.
