Another no-nonsense review courtesy of your good self. Not a bike I am remotely interested in, but like most motorcyclists I like to keep up to speed with what is available....
The dash is actually better on the R version even though it's more simplified. It's really nice to have a standard looking digital tachometer that's much easier to read than the weirdo looking duo tachometers that they put on the RS model. I don't understand why Triumph won't listen to the massive wave of feedback from their customers; no one really likes they way they've set up the TFT on the more expensive model.I've loved the R's display ever since I've seen the Trident's 660 iteration of it. It's all one needs!
Test rode both back to back last Saturday. Came to the same conclusions as you. So impressed I bought one in the silver ice colour. Can't wai to pick it up in a couple of weeks
Great review of a lovely road bike from Triumph - has to be my favourite all round sporty road bike and they sound absolutely glorious too! The R strikes a very good balance of having virtually all of the performance and functionality of the RS but at reduced cost so very good value for a premium street bike👍👍
Thanks Mark. It seems that the "R" has had a few engine tweaks but retains all that was already great about this fast but very rideable middleweight. Being the owner of the 2021 model your review captured brilliantly what I think this machine is all about. Call me a wus but I rarely ride in sports mode as it's all too easy to achieve licence-losing speeds in the blink of an eye. Curiously it's happy enough at 30mph in 6th without any feeling of bogging down or stalling - Truly the ease of a 300 with the performance of a sports bike. Please keep up the good work and I look forward to your next Vlog. :>)
Hi Peter... thanks for the comment...I was lucky enough to have a long ride last week on a 21 R as well and a 20 RS both absolutely superb....near as damn it as good as the latest models ...the R had the standard rev counter which I like Best wishes mark
l still use a 2014 Street Triple 675 R...light, nimble, handles well and sounds great when you give it a bit wellie... whats not to like.... The Striple just gets better. ...best in its genre
Great review mark. I had one of these for an hour on Saturday, I totally agree with you, absolutely superb machine. Reckon I'll be back there next week with wallet in hand 😁
My trust in some of the vloggers I routinely watch has become a bit jaundiced. You, however, always provide opinions and info without thinking about the next corporate freebie. I've given up on vloggers who are too scared to provide an opinion because they might offend someone in marketing. You are free of this stuff. So, thanks for that.
Hi Mark Thank you for your road test on the Street Triple R, your reviews are always very informative. I'm thinking about one of these, but still have my Ducati Monster 937. Seeing your review has encouraged me to test one. Best regards David
Great review of an awesome machine, Mark - I think you enjoyed it! You're right about buying the R for the road & saving £1700 over the RS. But Triumph will soon claw it back from you too as the flyscreen & bellypan are extra, the bar end mirrors are cool & a single seat hump looks the business too!
Always wanted a street triple but end up always buying something else. This time I bought the new hornet and love but wish it looked more like the street. Maybe next year I might upgrade to one of these. Shame the clocks aren't that special but a small detail I'm sure. Great review as always
Had the 2020 R. Needle tachometer, quick shift, slightly less on the wrists, didn’t notice any difference in power, and what I felt was better suspension on not perfect roads. Everyone bangs on about the rs being better, but I found it the other way round. Money wasn’t a factor in my decision. On a track, yes, the rs ohlins will perform better.
I’d definitely advise at least an hour demo before buying this , I bought the speed triple 1200 without testing it and I loved it at first, but now I just find it annoying and irritating to ride because day to day it’s just uncomfortable too fast. It doesn’t like going through traffic. It’s a bit of a waste of a bike in my opinion but I did have a ride on the street triple and I thought it’s perfect for UK roads as a do it all Bike , even though it’s not as powerful it makes up for it because it’s so comfortable to ride and it’s so light . 180 hp is a total waste of a bike but 130 is pretty much perfect 👍🏾
@@markpulling12 💯 👍🏾I’ve had my Speed Triple a year and honestly I’ve never been over 7000 Rpm yet because it’s already doing crazy speed! Can’t wait to trade it for the Street Triple Rs 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Its rather strange when my 2008 second generation Suzuki Hayabusa have a 190 rear tyre and then my much smaller Triump Street Triple R 2010 have a 180 rear tyre. But the SURPRISE power in that Street Triple is beyond words. Nothing you expect when walking past it. 😄
Thanks mark great review. I bought my ninja 650 off the back of your review quite a while ago. I was thinking of an upgrade and your test of triumph came up. I love the ninja because of the riding position is it similar? Only down side to the ninja is the vibration through the bars how does this compare? Cheers
Hi the ninja 650 has clip ons that are quite high this has straight bars which offer a bit more control ...they are both quite comfortable....I prefer the triumph...the triumph is super smooth hardly any vibes at all being a triple Best wishes mark
I love the engine note of triples. My F3-S is a triple. This seems like a great bike. I like the colour, as well. Why pay more for the RS? The usual first-class review.
The simple answer is because I wanted it 😂 The Ohlins feels so good. I think any particular feature on its own, perhaps not worth the premium. But all together it just seems to work. And if you find a brand new '22RS like I did on discount, the out the door is a lot closer than you'd think
Hi Mark, This is an awesome motorcycle and in my favourite colour scheme. This will no doubt replace my tiger 660 sport in a couple of years time as this to me is an all rounder do it all machine, Triumph have made a great motorcycle for the masses. Great review mark cheers from Gary.
Hi Gary many thanks....it's got to be best in class ...I know it's a lot more than the hornet/ gsx8s but gee wizz does it ride well !! Best wishes mark
I've watched this again as you do a good review Mark.I think you like it a lot. Looks a great bike. I can see you swapping your KTM Duke for it ......... The only deal breaker for me would be if it doesn't have cruise control. Really tempted to get a ride on one and the RS to see whether they are that good and maybe chop my Speed Triple 1050RS in for either. The RS with Ohlins with a proper suspension set up to suit your weight and riding style is awesome which I am having done on my Speed Triple RS atm as it is a bit firm. I go back for final adjustments this coming thursday morning.
Hi Alex yes the street triple R and Rs are awesome machines.... would definitely like one in the future.. looking forward to your thoughts when you get a go on one Best wishes mark
@@pcarts232 If I am spending £10k on a brand new bike then I want it to have cruise control or there to be an option for it. Not interested in aftermarket bodges for something that should be an integral feature of a bike.
@@alexmorgan3435 it’s fitted by Triumph with a Triumph part number it’s not aftermarket , also the dealer fitted £1000 of extra parts for free on my Speed Triple
Ive pretty much decided on an aprilia tuono 660, but the street triple r is sorta looming there and i cant decide which one i want to go for... unfortunately i cant test ride either so its hard to decide just based off sitting on them and watching reviews
Hi any bike can be used for touring...but the best are ones that have big comfy seats and massive fairings ...this doesn't but you could easily ride it for several hours a day and 200 miles ...so it's ok for moderate touring plus it's more fun than a touring bike best wishes mark
I have a street triple s 660 21, anyone have experience with aftermarket quick shift ? I think I’d like to have that fitted now after trying on other bikes
Hi great video. A question. I've been looking at this bike. But every bike I've looked at doesn't have the plastic stone guard at the front of the exhaust. The RS does but not the R. Is this an add on? Or does it come standard on the white one? Thanks
Hi Steve the belly pan is standard on the R and Rs models of recent years and present model ...but like 10 years ago it wasn't I believe Best wishes mark
Greetings from Australia. Looks like fantastic bike but alas at 6”5 I would probably be cramped. There are not many bikes comfortable for my size with out a lot of mods
"LED lights all round" Is that the case? On the Triumph UK website's configurator LED indicators (both normal and "scrolling" iterations) are listed as optional extras for both the R and RS. That would presumably suggest they only come with halogen indicators as standard. Also, that example is fitted with a fly screen and belly pan which are also optional extras.
@@markpulling12 Nice! That's puzzling then. The optional extra LED indicators feature a cast alloy housing so maybe the standard ones feature a plastic housing.
I do wish Triumph would offer some less dull paint schemes, bright red, yellow, blue, orange, please just something other than the same old grey or white options
Hi Simon...the xsr has the brilliant tracer 9/mt09 engine...loads of power and torque..and looks retro and cool the street triple...is similar performance but a bit more revvy...and lighter handling...they really are both 5 star bikes can't go wrong with either ...I guess just go with what fits you best and the best deal best wishes mark
Had a 2021 Street Triple RS. Picked up a new XSR 3 weeks ago. XSR has a better engine and has more character. Tried the new 2023 RS, wasn't feeling it. Suspension might not be so good ( not by much) but brakes are top notch. Best back brake I've used! That blood engine - so good and great midrange. Looks great too, esp in blue. Real head turner.
I am trying to decide between the R and RS....and interested in your comment when you say the R makes a better road bike. From a test ride on both i felt the RS was more planted, less wobbly on the back suspensions. Do you prefer the suspension of the R on the UK ( Devon) roads for general commuting.... Anything else I should consider on what makes it a better road bike compared to the RS? Cheers
Hi Patrick I had this conversation with the salesmen at triumph and they all agreed the R is the better value road bike ...I found the suspension to be perfect for the road ...the Rs is nicer in the display and switchgear etc plus higher spec ohlins but for me id get the R its much improved over the older model I think Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 Many thanks, always happy to read your valuable opinions, especially when you say that the cheaper version can do as good for my needs!!
G'day Mark, Great review as always, not a fan of this machine yes it has two wheels but no street appeal, the rear and front look like an after thought 🤔🤔🤔 and even Triumph won't put their name on the tank are they also disappointed, try again Triumph this one's not going to cut it, cheers mate ride safe, Neil 🤠.
Hi the 790 duke is much stronger in the midrange say 5 k rpm ...the triumph is just waking up then and flies upto about 12 k rpm whereas the duke is over and done by 9 k ish Best wishes mark
No not all all. I would have definitely noticed that ...Perfect low speed manners for me .. couldn't fault the handling fast or slow ...funny isn't it how some reviews say things that most people don't even notice 😂😂 Best wishes mark
Thanks Mark, I was surprised when I saw the original comment from the Bike Magazine tester. It put me off buying one, but will now test ride one to see for myself 😊
Hello Mark, we like your reviews videos in RU-vid! We are looking forward to sponsor you some wheel stickers for a try. Are you willing to receive it? ☺
I have question...I have a new motorcycle. I drove 1000 km. the engine runs erratically at start. even a warm engine does not work like a 4-cylinder is it ok according to Yi?
If you have any concerns just get your dealer to have a look at it The triple engine does sound and perform differently to an inline 4 Best wishes mark
Yes all the time off camera lol 😆 ...I can't incriminate myself at super high speed if you rev a bike to max revs they are travelling at super high speed as you know ...I have my reputation to uphold with dealers .. public safety my safety ...the list goes on ...most dealers love the way I sensibly ride their bikes hence I get more keys Best wishes mark
Mark, Re. Street Triple R 765: a) Does it have Wheelie control ??; b) what DECIBEL Level of intake & exhaust??; c). Does it have RPM ASSIST ?? ( PLZ, See UTUBE video: " 2024 Triumph Street Triple 765 UNPLANNED Test Ride ". Channel: 6Gear Cutloe. ) Thanks.
Oh great, Triumph release yet another uninspired colour with horrible decals. They used to have some lovely looking street triples back in the day but everything they put out now is so bland looking.
It’s the headlight lack of symmetry that annoys me. I’d buy tomorrow if they sorted that out. And I do know their logic behind it, just think it ruins many a bike
@@majordelays4909 Yeah not a fan of that but a lot of bikes have that "feature" which doesn't make any sense to me. My Tiger 800 xrt didn't do that and neither does my current bike, F900XR, thankfully.
I bought my 2022 Speed Triple 1200rs From Destination Triumph last year great place to buy a bike but I’m really looking forward to trading it for the Rs Street triple it totally fed up with the ride of the Speed Triple, it’s fast but SO irritating to ride, it’s either full gas or just shit tbh 😢
