I enjoy this channel because we actually see you working on things, and not just a jump cut to the finished thing your making. Also not everything works, and you try different methods of making these parts.

I have been really looking forward to this video and once again you provided an awesome detailed and relative documentary account of the processes involved in manufacturing and constructing custom exhaust baffles while detailing the cause and effect relationship of the modifications. Loved it and agree the tone sounds spot on.

Your timing on this couldn't be better Dan! This "new" 82 Virago I told you I got is obnoxiously loud. 1hr ride and my ears were hurting. In trying to figure out how to remedy that you may have just given me the answer! Cheers heaps yet again mate! Keep it up!

Great vid. I have two CB750’s (big bore) 79 & 81. If the carbs aren’t clean (ie jets deliver same quantity of fuel through throttle range) and haven’t been balanced/synced the exhaust noise is considerably louder.

I used an app for decibels this way yesterday, and the first thing I tested was the maximum input the phone can register.. Turns out it's not a lot, so I ended up putting my phone in another room, to get readings within its range.

I had the same bike and tried so many things to get it to sound good but nothing worked. I tried all kinds of baffles. Bought some, made some, nothing ever worked. Always too loud. Ended up doing something that seemed wrong, but was the best solution.. i put a cap (round disk of sheet metal) blocking off the exhaust at the tip. Seems wrong, but was definitely the best it got.

great video thanks! I just replaced my throttle cables with custom length cables and I had a problem with my throttle sticking.. I had to get the return cable made 10mm longer. Easy way to tell is with the adjusters all the way closed how much "slop" do you have in the throttle, if none or little then the return is the problem.

I don't believe in Loud-Pipes-Saving-Lives, because it's relying on everyone around me being competent and without malice to hit me, or make me fall. Now, as I do my delivery job, with an embarrassingly loud motorized bike, one pedestrian just popped out in front of me from between parked cars, making me hit them & fall. That idiot jogged into the road without looking, like he was walking down a hallway, only looking towards me, AS I WAS HITTING HIM. Then, when we both got up, he claimed it was my fault because I was speeding ( I wasn't), on an ELECTRIC BIKE (It's not). Somehow, he didn't hear me coming, or he was that zoned out. Because of person, my work phone got shattered. And my exhaust isn't pointing backwards, its down, bouncing sound off the ground beneath me. Then there was the other pedestrian jaywalking diagonally with his back to traffic, I almost hit. Instead of loud pipes, I now want strong Dustbin Fairings with a cage & mesh, to cover my bars and front wheel, to ram idiots like these out of my way, and reduce the chance of them making me fall, or damaging anything. I don't care if their heads bounce off the pavement, and they pass right there. I'm sick of stupid pedestrians causing me injuries & damages, then want to blame their incompetence or negligence on me, or give me worthless apologies instead of money. And I wish my bike was powerful & quiet, so they don't hear me coming, freak out, then move irrationally, making me hit them anyway. That's one of the reasons why I don't bother with headlights anymore, unless it's a time or place where I can't see. For me, I'm better off being invisible, and we should ride like we are literally invisible anyway. Not expecting anyone to see us. Anyway. Beautiful bike. Great job building it.
