This is my guide to Dublin - it's a lovely city to explore, and you can do everything that you've seen in this video in less than three days. Do you have any other bucket list suggestions? Let me know in a separate comment below!

Now this is what I call a brilliant video city guide. Well spoken and totally coherant - a real delight. Lots of relevant information without being boring. Actually this qualifies as a professional presentation - it`s that good. Ninh knows what he~s doing - and has a sly sense of humour. Tells it like it is- Book of Kells viewing - a rip off.- how delightful is that !!!

You describe the book of Kells as medieval. But it was written in the 9th century long before medieval times. You don't seem to understand why it's important. It was written and illustrated by hand over a 1000 years ago and we still have it. It's worth learning more about it. Kilmainham jail is historically interesting because it's where the 1916 leaders of the revolution were shot. Also Temple Bar is the name of the whole area not just the pub of that name. It was a medieval part of Dublin that was going to be demolished about 30 years ago until a group of artists managed to buy it and turned it into the interesting area it is today. It's not just pubs, it's theatres and venues and exhibitions and restaurants.

Hi Anne, Thanks for clarifying these points to everyone watching this video. He produced great content about the Dublin tour. However, he didn't dive into Irish history and its importance worldwide. The book of kells is a treasure, and a visit to it is a priceless experience. It is "similar" to a tour around Rio de Janeiro without spending time to see Jesus' statue. Or going to Paris and don't pop up near to Eiffel Tower. And many other treasures around the world. Although I understand where he comes from. It is all about budget and priorities. I definitely recommend the Book of kells tour. Nowadays, it is offering an extra level of experience with the new Magical Virtual Pavilion where the visitors immerse into the pages through technology infrastructure. Ireland has a lot to offer, and it takes time to learn its history. 💚☘️

Regarding Temple Bar area, it's become a tourist trap aver the last two decades. Walk across Dame St to the Fade St area and the surrounding streets for where Dubliners actually socialise. Or in the evening, walk ten minutes further south to Camden St. Again, energetic nightlife but not a tourist trap. Oh, and a taxi from the airport to the city is about €30-35

Thanks! Glad you like this video about Dublin and found it helpful to plan your trip. To answer your questions: 1) To find that map, Google 'City Sightseeing Dublin' and download it from their website. 2) Best thing to do is use Google maps to get directions from Dublin Airport to wherever your AirBnB is located. Click on the bus icon and it will tell you what bus to take, and which company it belongs to. Alternatively, use the interactive digital map at the airport. Hope that helps?

Under British rule until recently? I wouldn't call 100 years recent! The Ha'penny Bridge is not rickety. The Air Coach is probably the most expensive mode of transport to the centre. I'd suggest getting an ordinary bus (such as the 16 or 41). It'll take longer, of course, but you get to see a bit of the suburbs, and it's much cheaper. Last time I was there, you could buy a bus pass at the airport - and it covered the bus into town. Temple Bar is to be avoided. You mention that there are other places to drink, but you don't suggest any. Next time you're there, explore the area around Grafton Street. :)

We have about 10 hours available to us. Also, do you recommend the hop on hop off bus as a start to get additional information other than what you shared?
@UltimateBucketList
@UltimateBucketList Год назад
Hi Gary, thanks for your kind comments. If you're arriving via cruise, you'll most likely dock at Alexandra Quay on the east side of the city. Some cruise companies offer complimentary shuttle busses to and from the city centre, but in general, it's only about 2 miles so really not far. If you're short on time, the hop-on, hop off buses will ensure that you see pretty much everything - but you'll have to decide which attractions you really want to see and get off at those specific stops. Hope that helps?

@@UltimateBucketList Thank you we are going to be docked at Glasgow (Greenville) is that only a couple of Miles from the city……A couple of more questions please. 1. Also we are going to the castle in Edinburgh …. But will be in theses other ports of.Dublin, Belfast, Holyhead Wales, Cork(Cobb). Would you visit castles in each of these ports? If not, what would be your priority list based on these ports like I said, we’re already doing Edinburgh. Thank you for your help. Just not sure we want to visit several different castles unless you reccomended it.
@UltimateBucketList
@UltimateBucketList Год назад
I'm unaware of any place called 'Greenville' in Glasgow, but if you're going to dock where I think you are, again it's only a few miles from the city centre. Dublin is worth exploring in detail, as is Belfast. To be honest, once you've seen Edinburgh castle, the others are lame in comparison - so just focus on the actual cities themselves.

@UltimateBucketList

Yes, absolutely! For a first holiday, it's pretty good because you're only a 30 minute flight from Liverpool Airport and everyone speaks English. The weather is exactly the same and they even have Liverpool FC stores in the city. It'll be very familiar to you, but also very different.

The government plan to link the airport to the city by a metrolink train by 2025 ,but to be honest would n't be that hopeful that will come to fruition.Good guide but the Epic Museum which is about irish emigration is very interesting for tourists who have irish heritage and dublin writers museum for those into the literary side apart from that you covered most of the sights
@UltimateBucketList
@UltimateBucketList Год назад
Yeah for sure. It would make sense to make a Metrolink to the airport, but politicians have a dirty habit of over-promising and under-delivering! But yeah, apart from a few things like some of the other museums and the Teeling distillery, I think I covered most of what Dublin has to offer?

Better than the average Dublin guide and glad that you mentioned some places (like Croke Park and the National Gallery) that many other guides fail to do. Don’t agree with your comment about the Book of Kells - there is a lot of information included that will certainly take more than 30 seconds to read. And the Library is iconic and much raved about by most visitors. You mentioned the Bank of Ireland but failed to mention that it is the former Parliament of Ireland prior to the Act of Union and you can still visit the Irish House of Lords inside. If there was one place to miss I would suggest the Guinness Storehouse - way over rated. But everyone to their own. While you did mention the National Gallery you failed to mention the Hugh Lane Gallery which is worth a visit alone to see the Francis Bacon studio which was donated and reassembled here. You mentioned the Gardens at the Royal Hospital but failed to mention that this iconic building houses the Modern Art Museum. Another fabulous art museum is the Royal Hibernian Academy. All these institutions host wonderful concerts and lectures. While you did mention one of the branches of the National Museum you did not include the wonderful Museum of Decorative Arts and History housed in the former Collins Barracks. You did not show the wonderful Georgian Squares and historic Henrietta Street. You showed the Spire on O’Connell St but failed to mention the GPO, and it’s attached museum, which was the HQ for the 1916 Easter Rising. You talked about the Phoenix Park but failed to mention that it also includes Farmleigh House which is open to the public if heads of states are not staying there. Also, in the Phoenix Park is Áras an Uachtaráin, the former Vice Regal lodge and now home to the President of Ireland, which can also be visited. You failed to mention the plethora of theatres and performance spaced - the Gaiety Theatre, the Abbey Theatre, The Gate Theatre, the National Concert Hall, Bord Gais Theatre, the 3 Arena, the Helix, the Project, Smock Alley, to name just a few. And probably the most overlooked gem in Dublin’s crown, the Casino Marino which is the most important neo-classical building in Ireland. And if you are really interested in gardens a visit to the Botanic Garden is a must. Close by is Glasnevin Cemetery where many famous Irish people are buried and should not be missed. Dublin also has some spectacular walks - Howth Head on the north side, the Bull Wall at the mouth of the River Liffey and spectacular Killney Hill on the south side. A visit to Killiney should include the famous James Joyce Tower in Sandycove. While Dublin Airport is certainly the major entry point for many visitors you can also fly into Ireland to it’s many other regional airports such as Cork, Belfast, Kerry and Ireland West. Flights from the US also fly into Shannon Airport. And of course you don’t have to fly as Ireland is also served by many ferry routes from both Britain and the Continent.

My wife is currently working in Dublin and I’ve been 3 times in the last 5 months. My first image of Dublin, dirty. There is trash on the sidewalks almost everywhere I went. The people have their heads buried in their cell phones and will literally walk into you. I don’t think its the Irish citizens, but all the people that are there working. Once you get out of Dublin, the scenery is beautiful. Every country has its beautiful places. The Grand Canyon is magnificent and the Smokies are just as beautiful. My 2 cents
