Thank you, John Tesh, for this amazing music! I think it is classic, and gets you excited, pumped, and feeling awesome to watch the upcoming NBA game. I think ABC tried to come up with something that would do the same thing, and it's ok, but not anywhere near "Roundball Rock" caliber.

NBA on NBC has a huge legacy in Chicago in the 90's (I grew up watching my Bulls and the Jordan era)...... It brings back a ton of memories of Chicago's greatest era in Basketball. Of course they have covered the greatest rivalries in the late 70's and the entire 80's with the Magic/Bird rivalry and witness the NBA rising towards popularity in the 60's with the ABA teams merging into the league that it is today. I have no allegiance on what channel to watch my basketball needs, but NBC's theme song is what has me think of the NBA the most. It's so iconic and since Comcast owns NBC and created CSN (Comcast Sports Network), I was hoping for Comcast to bring this song back. It's as legendary as the Chicago Bulls Intro (Sirius by The Alan Parsons' Project).

A shame they resigned with ESPN/ABC again :(.

Let's forget about the theme for a second, NitroEng I think the introduction and ending with the NBC colors and logos were terrific and the music was right on. Keep it up and you may have a chance to work at a major network or studio, I know I used to work at NBC, and I will join CBS at the end of this month and this presentation is well done.

Things are looking good for NBC's chances to regain NBA rights, they just won the rights to televise NASCAR

NBC now holds rights for the second half of the NASCAR season as well as the others.

Supposedly, John Tesh was contacted by NBC to revive his Roundball Ruckus for NBA on NBC again. I don't know what changes he's going to make or if it will even sound similar. I hope they just keep the original theme song and that's it. It was soooo good. Just iconic. When you hear that song, you automatically know an NBA game's starting and the excitement begins!!!

This rendition is an octave minus a whole step up ( a to g ) the arrangement is the same cept for a few inversions to cumpensate. I search for "roundball rock 30" for the sweet loop of john tesh's original which i believe to be the greatest song ever composed. I'm not the biggest sports fan but i played the role of dennis rodman in a tech death metal band called "96 bulls" that only practiced a hand full of times.

I think the original Roundball Rock on NBC in 1990 was better than later versions. Maybe Mike Breen, who called some of the 2001 & 2002 NBA Finals games on NBC, will return to that network, as well. At least Le Bron won his three titles on ABC/ESPN.

An update about the Olympic Games. On May 7, 2014, the International Olympic Committee has extended the US Broadcast Rights to Comcast NBC Universal until at least 2032.

When NBC gets it back, most of you forgot Mike Breen and if he does not come to NBC then it will Gus Johnson. For years, Johnson was the play-by-play man for the NY Knicks on the radio and was very good and is a excellent TV announcer.

AGREED! This video was a nice try, but the song shouldn't be changed at all! The '90s graphics would be updated of course, but the song should stay exactly the same as it was during the glory days.

Personally The NBA ON Network TV was at its peak on CBS & NBC so I would prefer one of those two networks to get the rights back to the NBA!!!!! I've never been sold with the NBA being on ESPN/ABC it doesn't bring it like CBS and NBC Did. Just my honest humble opinion

Biggest problem with the Euro soccer is the time zone difference. I think Americans could get behind the sport in the future if the games weren't telecast at noon - but this will never change.

I believe tHe NBA on NBC will return in 2026 or 2027, not sure which year, but ESPN-Disney is losing billions of dollars and this is why it will come back to NBC.

@Chilax You might be right about that the new regime is really aggressive right now in getting the rights to a lot of sports programming. I think their definitely coming back after the NBA. Versus will be changing its name to NBC Sports Network in January and I believe that they can easily get a deal with NBC Sports Network to televise NBA games. The NBA should be on two different broadcasting networks and have both networks alternate years for Finals coverage like the NFL does with SB.

To this day, NBC's telecast of the NBA is far superior to the mediocre product that ESPN and its parent company ABC put out in terms of NBA coverage.

Fox has the rights to ”Roundball Rock” which they use for College Basketball, so if NBC gets it back they'll have to use a new theme song.

The only problem with NBC getting back the NBA rights is that they have the NHL deal which overlaps with a lot of the NBA season till 2021. That includes the NBC Sports network, although they could televise some of the weekend/weeknight games on their sister networks USA or CNBC, the latter doesn't really have any destination programming after the stock market closes. Fox will definitely bid on the deal, they need programming for the Network after the NFL season ends, plus they could use more programming for Fox Sports 1 and 2, who have the MLB late Saturday afternoon deal starting this year. Turner Sports already runs NBA TV and NBA.com website so they will try to renew with TNT, otherwise Fox Sports could take over both if they lose the deal. The wild card in the deal might be Google who would broadcast them digitally on You Tube, just like they have the D-League games. I predict in 5 years one of the big 4 sports league will broadcast live games in this fashion.

@NitroEng I agree, the 4 major sports leagues should be on at least 2 networks, and rotate who gets the championships just like the NFL does with the Super Bowl. The NBA should also have games on NBC Sports right now. MLB has 3 networks, FOX, TBS, & ESPN, but ESPN/ABC doesn't do playoffs anymore. The NHL should get FOX back as a 2nd US network, and alternate the Stanley Cup Finals with NBC. I like this new theme, but I wish NBC use the old one, which is better.

@Chilax I don't think so. Yes, there may be scheduling conflicts, but I still think (an NBA season upcoming), the NBA would be more popular, and would get Sunday night slots. Speaking of Sunday night, that would be an awesome lineup. The NBA Games of the Week at 1 and 3:30 pm, local and nightly news, then Football Night in America, then Sunday Night Football.
