What a change in weather, not worth trying to last it out when you can pack up and get home safely. Glade everyone is ok. Great video and love the story of the green ball of light! Keep them coming
Hi Iain, hope the camp with the girls when well pal. Yeah it was a big shock that storm, really wasn't expected. Yeah definitely pal, makes the best sense doesn't it. Yeah the Orb certainly was a weird show mate, have no clue what it was. Thanks pal, for watching and commenting 👍
Brutal weather Ant, and serious respect for sticking it as long as you did. As others have said, that wasn't a bail, it was an early pack up lol. Fingers crossed for better weather next time.
Hey Ivan mate, yeah it was a rough two days if honest mate 😆. Thank buddy, I still loved every minute of it though. Yeah I had some decent weather the week after dude, thanks man
Hi Joe, yeah for sure mate. Wasn't on the cards this, I was planning a nice relaxing camp lol. Haha, I'll go with that then mate haha. Yeah it was a lovely wide open spot with mountains galore to look at. Thanks buddy as always 👍
Great video just shows how the weather can change and to be fair, I wouldnt class that as bailing.. It was early morning so you did survive the night just no breakie. Loved the drone footage but i bet Leon is chuffed you didnt go for a fly through. Lol.. Sorry, thats a cloud peak 2 gag and was below the belt. Keep up the good work pal. Atb Andy
Hi Andrew, oh yeah mate, was expecting the storm that hit us, didn't even expect wind. I suppose so mate but I call it quitting because I got push out through no fault of mine, wasn't by choice I mean. I wanted a couple of brews and some breakfast haha! Thanks pal, I nearly forgot to put the drone footage in! Haha yeah I will not be doing something like that again. Thanks as always pal 👍
Brutal stuff Ant😮 Good to see Matt back out with you. I know the spot, it's a good one but boggy round the edges at the best of times. Glad you survived 👍
Hey Benny, yeah it turned out a right old mess matey. Yeah it's always nice yo see Matt, he's a top bloke. I bet mate, the tarn is quite big and obviously breaks its banks regularly it seems. Thanks buddy, hope your well 👍
Don't worry Leon, I've asked my friends in Sweden to look out for your tent as it passes by. Elon may have Starlink, but at least you own the first tent in space. Two rough nights what with arsehats and a storm, still at least you're managing to get out and about. You'll catch a fish one day mate. Stay safe
Haha I know right!! Poor Leon is like, have you completely destroyed my tent yet! Haha your a funny man Si, always make me laugh. Yeah a very eventful couple of days to say the least matey. Haha I'm hoping I'm not back in the fishing draught I was before the big Pike! Thanks pal 👍
Hi Harry, thank you matey, the pressure was on I think haha. Loved it though mate, gets the blood pumping. Yeah was great to get out with Matt again and to finally get that camp with Martin was top. Cheers buddy as usual 👍. I hope all is well with you buddy.
Hey Tarmac, yeah got a little bit hard work when the water rose up lol. Yeah beautiful place as is most of the lakes. Thank you bud as always for watching
Nice one Ant...👍 It's quite a rush being in a tent when the weather's crazy...!😄 I wonder, would U have stuck it out, if U had been on a lone camp & was in the Bobcat, wotcha reckon...!??🤔
Hi Kev mate, thanks pal. Oh yes! I loved it even at 3am when it started haha! I'd like to say yes, I'd have had to have moved anyway due to the banks bursting so probably would have just packed up anyway mate. I definitely need ground anchors though. Thanks my man 🙏
Yikes....maybe next time bring the canoe & sleep in that 😄...... LOL, always entertaining. Glad you guys made it out okay. Your fishing adventure reminds me that I vowed to take up fishing again last year.....still haven't done it. I need to get after it. Cheers 🍻
Hello Ted mate hope your well dude. Haha yeah good idea that pal! Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah me too, was getting a little wet in there haha. Yeah do it mate, love it even though its very rare I catch haha. Big thanks Ted 👍
i always carry a goretex, more recently event bivy, esp when going remote (not that the lakes is remote) for emergency situations. At 500g ish its a no brainer. Bailing out middle of the night in high winds/rain and tired can make a bad situation even worse. Also handy to happen should the worst happen and solo and not capable of getting a tent setup. However dropping the tent and getting inside the bivy whilst it might not be the most comfortable night, you will sleep alot better, earplugs in and rest than in a tent in high winds (hilleberg included). A good bivy will survive whatever wind or rain nature decides to throw at you.
Hi Dave, normally I do just that, well just a standard army biiv nothing special but would have kept me dry but nowhere to store the backpack but hey, just proves anything can happen can't it mate. Thanks for the top tips and thank you for watching and commenting pal 👍
Blimey Ant. That was a rough un. At least you survived the night. Me and the grandson was caught in unexpected weather this weekend just gone aswell . Luckily we pegged down our tents with some big stones, and we where in a slight dip, mainly away from the heaviest of gales. I was in the bobcat. The jury is out on it a present as i made a few mistakes setting it up, and the gusts of wind and driving rain didn't help. Ill give it a few more goes first. . Keep smiling. 😁Billy
Hi Billy mate, yeah haha but a fab experience that's for sure pal. Yeah it's been a rough couple of weeks hasn't it, fingers crossed for better weather. Ahh right, what mistakes did you make mate, maybe I can help. Yeah definitely give it more time, I'm sure you will fall for it. Thanks Billy 👍
The main mistake was not putting the inner section to the outer section at home. It would have been a bit easier to put up on the camp spot. 😊. Mind you it was flipping windy and driving rain. That didnt help. 😂. Ill have to rewatch your vids on the bobcat again. Ive tried to mention your channel in my upcoming video about the bobcat, but ive had to put it in writing. My external mics decided to pack up on a number of clips. Ill put a link in my description for your channel mate. 😊
Ahh right yeah that's what got me. I came up with the idea of attaching the inner to the outer using football net hooks. If you need me to link them I will mate. It's in one of the earlier Bobcat videos if you want to see it. Oh thanks matey I appreciate the shout out, that's very kind. If people find this awesome tent then I'm happy. If you need any help with it, give us a shout pal 👍
Good watch Ant, it just goes to show people how quick things can change, the right decision was made and fair play to you. Great tent as well, I’ve recently got a tunnel tent and was out in it Saturday night, it was brilliant for space 👍
Hi Geoff mate, thanks buddy. Yeah you just gotta be prepared haven't you pal, thankfully we made the decision to move before the banks gave way so most of the gear was packed away. Ahh nice mate, which did you get? Hope you had a good time out. Thanks matey 👍
Nope! Wouldn't have it any other way I reckon Mark mate lol. Yeah definitely, thankfully we were nearly ready to get the tents down when the watcher came in. Cheers buddy 👍
Great vid Ant but your topography skills are still out. I came up from Suffolk not Norfolk. I’ve got gills not webbed feet All the best. Was an ‘interesting’ night
Lol I knew when I watched it back! I was thinking, won't take Martin long before he comments lol 😆. Great to have you come up and spend some time with us mate. I appreciate you travelling all that way to climb a mountain then have to cope with Tails From The Tent then having to put up with the storm haha! Hope we see each other soon for another one matey. All the very best Martin
Well I dont think that this kind of camping is for me. Its not so much the weather, its the low down life style. Cos once you are the the tent thats it, you are on the ground. I'm 5' 4" fat 73 with arthritis that crawling about isnt for me. However, watching from the safety of my couch with a pint o tea in my paws is Ace. Keep it up Ant. 👍 Eh but keep safe, yaeh?
Hey Stephen, yeah it can be hard work in a small tent but in the larger ones it' can be done, maybe not going far due to weight of the tent but perfect for local camping, getca chair in there... Glad your enjoying the videos the Stephen. Thanks buddy 👍🍻
No mate that was not a "quit".... if it was 6am when you started packing down, then you had stayed the night.. so it was a success, you just left earlier than planned... Take care out there.
Hey buddy, yeah kinda but I call it quitting due to having to pack up not by choice I would say mate I wanted to chill, come round, have a brew and some breakfast maybe some fishing lol that didn't happen! Haha. Cheers pal for watching and for your comment again 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight the channel is called "ant survive the night" , you accomplished that with flying colours... I know nothing about fishing , though iam quite sure none of my friends go fishing in torrential rain fall... you had to adapt and alter your plans, you did that successfully.. so you missed a coffee and some down time. Conditions were against you. Well done buddy. You did what tens of millions of people wouldn't do and you did it successfully..
Aww thanks man, very kind words. Yeah I love it truthfully whatever the weatger. I'm always safe, I wouldn't put my self in real danger (apart from the rivers and lakes when canoeing lol) I'd always make sure there's an escape route but that doesn't go for the kit I use lol. I push it to the max and if it breaks then its up to the limits and I'll deal with the situation but I certainly won't be at risk or having to put anybody else at risk having to rescue me. Big thanks again for the kind words matey
Haha I certainly did matey, two mountains, up and down. They come into their own when you face weather like this, great to get over deeper water if its surging. I wear them to be honest because of my bad back, just hear me out lol. When your up and down faffing around in a tent, stooping down and struggling the last thing I need with serious back pain is to sit squashed up trying my hardest to get tight boots back on to go outside. Cheers matey for the watch and for commenting, Ant 👍
Oh thank you James for the sub matey I appreciate that and cheers for the comment. It was a rough one, got the blood pumping but very exciting at the same time. Big thanks pal, Ant 👍
